Thats a rap

Just watched this movie for the first time with your reaction in preparation for 28 years later. Holy cow now I get the hype! Apparently the scenes of empty London were a combination of clearing streets and filming really early in the morning, but it's all real and in-camera. Bonkers. I never would have thought that was possible. I love how the infected aren't technically zombies but at the same time it's totally a zombie movie lol. Like how corn isn't technically a vegetable but you can still totally put it in vegetable dishes xD That's how I like to think of it anyway

Subscribed last night, you two are the best. George is great, but I'm here for Simone. Hi Simone. 👋🥰🤣

Fan

Please check out The Place Beyond the Pines, this goes to anyone who sees this comment too :)

Odd Thomas

Ah back when digital moviemaking was in its infancy. The number of reaction vids on this where people are like 'why does it look so bad?' It was also a budget thing & so they could work fast getting the London shots.

Odd Thomas

Please watch the Danny Boyle movie Sunshine too. Genuinely one of the best sci-fi movies ever imo

redddfer44

I don't like or even watch everything Danny Boyle puts out, but I gotta respect the dude for versatility. For a killer soundtrack and a really young Ewan McGregor, check out Trainspotting.

Opti_Frog

I will fight anyone who says that the infected are zombies. 😛 28 Weeks Later is not bad, but it's not on par with the first one. I think it's worth a watch though.

Steve Mercier

Love this movie. Still fantastic after 20 years. The sequel, 28 weeks later, is also quite good.

Kyle Urbach

Earlier in the movie Selena tells them she qualified as a chemist. She's a trained pharmacist and has had some medical training. So its kinda plausible that Jim survived, if she had access to the right drugs.

Logan Kerlee

Hell yeah! Happy to see you both reacting to this! I'll be sure to comment again after I finish watching the reaction. :D

Andrew Smith

Eh 28 weeks later isn't that great. Watch it if you want but its no where near as good as this movie.

Nick Sneddon

its on another poll, but Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy is a better film apparently lol

Monica Alarcon

I was worried because my copy lasts like 5 minutes less than yours but It synched perfectly all the way to the end... I was thinking maybe yours has like the alternate ending after the credits or something... weird... Also, you should watch the sequel...

Saifu

Top Gun Maverick reaction soon?

Richard Flores

Don't pretend the sequel doesn't exist, just pretend that it is its own stand-alone movie. They don't compare. And they don't have to. To get Empire Strikes Back, you don't have to first watch Attack Of The Clones. (Bad example, but you get the point.)

Thomas Yanez

Even after Simone pointed out that they aren't real zombies, George can't let "zombie" go. When the commander said he'd learn how long they took to STARVE, George turned it into "how long until they decay so far they can't get up". They aren't real zombies, George. They aren't the dead come alive. They are just humans infected with a rage-inducing virus, like a super-rabies. They die like the rest of us. Edit : Added the word "real" to clarify intent, since jesusmowsmylawn got butthurt.

okay but thats just being pedantic. the movie introduces a slight variation of a fictional being, that neither of them have seen so they use the nearest thing familiar as a point of reference; which is zombies. which the infected in this movie basically are. no one deliberately told them that they arent zombies, because as George points out, the movie went with the cliche of people inside that universe not knowing what zombies are. Theyre both just making guesses with info as they receive them. it just happens that Simone got it right this time. where as other times in other movies she happens to get it wrong and George is right. but the fact that i dont see you making similar comments in those videos tells me youre one of those people that is so thirsty anything the pretty girl says is immediately correct and perfect, and anything that differs from the guy she spends time with must be met with reprimand and snark.

Nogusta

I'd vote to skip the sequel. It's mediocre at best.

Foodassassin4life

Please watch The Count of Monte Cristo from 2002

REDR58

Watching this for the first time... I don't care what the artistic/technical/financial reasons might have been, the video quality is appalling for the year. I'd rather it was shot on black and white film than see this muddled mess. Oh well, powering through.

MacGuffinStuff

I knew you guys would like this movie, it's one of my favorites and I always say it really kicked off the whole zombie craze of the 2000s and beyond (Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake had to have been riding the coat tails of the first relatively successful "fast" zombie movie), even though it's actually more akin to George Romero's OTHER movie, The Crazies. Hope you guys watch more Danny Boyle movies, he's one of my favorite directors, story teller with a great unique style, and they always have great soundtracks too, some of my favorite music I first heard in movies like Trainspotting (not for the channel, no idea how demonetization on YT works but pretty sure that one's not getting through lol).

Chase Schleich

The quality looks so low res because it was either shot on tape or a very early 2000's digital camera. I've seen both options get argued over. Either way, it makes it so it can never be properly upscaled to 4K because it wasn't shot on film. Maybe some day they'll be able to upscale it with AI which could clean up the image, but for now, we're stuck with the low res original version. Also, all the London traffic was right outside of frame in those early scenes. They had only a few minutes to shoot those shots so the small camera allowed them to move quickly without having to move equipment. You'll notice the last scene looks much better because that part was shot on actual film, probably to show that the nightmare was over so everything looks nice again.

Opti_Frog

I just remembered that the cinematographer of 28 Days Later was Anthony Dod Mantle, who also shot the Dogme 95 danish film Festen (The Celebration) that no one on YT has reacted to yet, unsurprisingly. It won't win any polls here, but i very much recommend it to those who can stomach a darkly comic and psychologically harrowing trigger warning of a film.

Haverford West

It was shot on Canon XL1 MiniDV cameras. They shot at 720x576. I had one but I got rid of it, because the removeable eyepiece and mic assembly looks enough like a gun on airport scanners, to get your bag searched every time.

Torsten Maekler

On the topic of Zombies: You have any plans to watch the 2023 upcoming TV series "Last of us", based upon the Playstation game of the same name?

Gary Trousdale

“… darkly comic and psychologically harrowing trigger warning of a film.” Wow! The hard sell!

Jon

this is one of my short list of movies that i can watch over and over!

SavageDiplomat

The sequel 28 Weeks later is also well done. I'd definitely recommend it.

Logan Kerlee

lmao, took me a week to comment. Yeesh. Anyway though! Really enjoyed watching this reaction. :) You both were very entertaining and fun. As for 28 Weeks Later.. eh.. is pretty much how I'd rate it. It's an okay flick! It just doesn't really hold a candle to this one. The people's performances in this were much better and the directing as well. You can really tell that it's someone else running the show.

Logan Kerlee

lmao, I was reading and as soon as I got to "To get Empire Strikes Back you don't have to first watch.." my mind irked mighty quick! :P I live in a world where the prequels aren't connected. I like my world. hahaha

FranciscoGios

Well I’m bad I wrote a comment on a YT version instead of the Patreon version. Hello
