@01:09:04 The Shining scene wasn't in the book

In the name of Jebus, please put “In Bruges” (2008) on a poll

Marko T.

Many don't seem to like this movie but I enjoyed it. Now react to The Iron Giant. :)

JayF

Simone - This is like when I play Elden Ring. Me - ...why is there no video of this? Edit - Simone, watch some Gab Smolders video. She doesn't play half naked for views or anything. Just a sweet person that enjoys gaming and she has over 900k subs. Here is her start to Elden Ring - https://youtu.be/sumszqnsJuI

You guys should watch the iron giant. Best animated movie of the last few decades in my opinion.

samuel Jakob

I really like this movie, its a total nostalgia trip all the refrences are so great. You both seemed like you didnt see The Iron Giant, its an oldschool animation classic with a great and really wholesome story I highly recommend it. Its one of my favorite animated movies(if not my favorite) from my childhood and one of those "must watch" imo.

Logan Kerlee

Really enjoyed watching this reaction! So much fun. :D

Monica Alarcon

Dang, I've avoided this movie since it came out. Gonna have to watch it now...

Carlos Hurtado

I really enjoy this movie. It has quite a few eye rolling cliches but overall the movie is a ton of fun.

Erich Bomke

Its only because the book is in another league compared to this. Who would have thought that a movie so heavily influenced by Steven would be let down by Steven because he didn't want to do any of the references.

Erich Bomke

The movie is somewhere in average to good. The book is in the excellent category. More than likely because the movie is only 5% similar to the book. Basically the characters names and easter egg end goal are the only things in common.

Odd Thomas

My 4k disc arrived today! It's almost like it was meant to be...

Ruphus

You miss so many references not reading the book. For example: D&D plays a large part in finding the first key. I loved that book. I get why they couldn't reference everything but still it makes the movie disappointing.

Brant

You should definitely still do The Shining on the channel, even though this movie spoiled some of the imagery and plot points.

JediLounger

Watching the movie now with you guys. Simone you should read both books, they are excellent. I also like this movie. I think one must view movie adaptations of books as separate from their source material, otherwise the world is much less fun. In this case the author of the book worked on the movie with Spielberg and deliberately changed things as to give fans of the book a reason to see the movie. In the movie the story is mostly the same but the path is significantly different. For example the first challenge in the book is very different than the movie. Thanks for watching it. Edit: Robert Zemeckis directed the Back to the Future trilogy. Second Edit: You guys need to watch some Godzilla, either old school or modern.

The magic words for the orb is the charm of making from Excalibur

wroot

A movie i never get tired of :)

Jayson Phillips

Loved the book. You guys should watch Alita: Battle Angel next!!!

Purple Dragon Knight

Simone, you might like the book. D&D plays a huge part in the beginning of the novel. As all things should. But the book is just one huge easter egg for people like me who grew up in the 80's. Every page was a nostalgia trip. So, maybe not for you youngin's after all lol. I hope you enjoyed the movie and thank you for all the reactions.

Monica Alarcon

Okay so far (halfway through) it's not that bad... it's different enough from the novel, in the novel there is no car race, no zero gravity disco, no Shining (btw you REALLY should have seen The Shining first), so it's kinda it's own thing I guess...

Steve Mercier

Zemeckis did 'Back to the Future'.

Colin Stemp

Love this movie! Can't wait to watch tonight! It's just a feel good fun movie.

Steve H

I had a friend with the Attari 2600, I saw the secret; awesome!

Haye Zeus

This movie is eh but if it gets you guys to watch all the shit they reference then it’s worth it.

JayF

Their intro kind of made it seem like they have seen it. Edit - well I was wrong lol. Hit the point in the movie where they say they haven't. Which means, George and Simone, please add it to a poll. It's an incredibly good movie. It was also directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles).

Josh B.

It was called the Zemeckis Cube because he directed the BTTF movies and the cube turns back time and plays the music and jingle from BTTF, Also Overwatch 2 is still fun gameplay wise just the monetization of cosmetics and technical difficulties at launch put a bad taste in peoples mouths, but still a fun game especially for new payers since they don't know any better since they never played Overwatch 1 to care about the changes, and we have the big PVE story mode coming out next year that justifies it being a sequel but people were so content starved they released the PVP first instead of with the PVE, but yeah lol I love this movie I normally don't care for newer movies but this one I really enjoy since I am a fan of video games and pop culture in general, hope Ready Player Two comes out next year.

Ricardo Alanis

Definitely recommend The Iron Giant and The Shining. Tons of references that are easy to miss. For example, the ship Parzival takes to the Distracted Globe and that Daito jumps out of to become Gundam is Serenity.

MacGuffinStuff

I still kinda think you two might've benefitted from a few more movies under your belts (particularly "The Shining", but also because I was pleasantly surprised by the sequel, so hoping you guys watch them both sooner than later), but it was fun anyway, SO much nostalgia! Love that "Excalibur" from 1981 got some love, laughed at a lot of the references but the magic spell for the orb being the spell they used repeatedly in that movie was hilarious to me. And Parzival, or Percival, was a character from that and the Arthurian legends. Btw if you want to see Patrick Stewart looking 40 years younger, yet exactly the same, check out John Boorman's "Excalibur", it's awesome anyway, plus tons of now elder statesman type actors, including Gabriel Byrne, who we just saw in "Hereditary", as Uther Pendragon. Also, I'm just going to assume everyone got the Rosebud reference from "Citizen Kane". Chucky taking out about a platoon of Sixers was hilarious. "Iron Giant" is great, highly recommend. Artemis/Samantha was Olivia Cooke, Allicent in "House of the Dragon", and she was wearing a Joy Division shirt, love it. I don't think I've seen Ben Mendelsohn play anything but either a villain or a creep, and he's amazing at both; honestly my favorite actors are more the character actor types. This movie was so fun and now I really do want to read the book.

JoeySnowyNoey

I hate this movie. Lol I only watched it once and thought it was horrible. The book also pissed me off. 😂 glad if you guys liked it though! 😊

JoeySnowyNoey

Doctor Sleep is fucking awesome! Lol if you haven’t checked out that directors other movies you have too! He did an adaptation of Gearld’s Game too which was dope!

Opti_Frog

There are so many things in this movie (have not read the book even though i got a copy for free in a loot crate) that does not work for me. The VR hardly makes any sense and the whole thing comes off as if it was written by someone with only a passing understanding of gaming and gamers. But enough of it works that i can have fun watching it. Best bit: Ore wa Gundam de iku!

Ricardo Alanis

I have some friends who love the book but hate the movie and it's unfortunately just the fact that the book appeals to more hardcore gamers and people way deep into 80's pop culture (I grew up in the 80s and still some of it was very obscure) and this was meant to be a move with more mass appeal not to mention getting the rights to everything would've been impossible and feel bloated (like the separate challenges for the gates). I still love it for what it is not for what it couldn't be. I do think it could make a great miniseries which is the same way I feel about World War Z. Hard to capture the geo-political aspects of the book that make it so great into one 90 minute movie.

Grand Moff Slackin'

I would echo other recommendations for watching The Shining and then also watching the sequel, Dr. Sleep, which is also good.

AC10

So many comments saying they didn't like the movie because the book was so much better... I don't understand how that was ever expected. I haven't read nearly as many books as I have seen movies. But literally every book I have read was so much better than the movie. I have friends that read a lot, and they are always saying how this book or that book was so much better. My default is of course the book is better... like they seem to always be. IMO this movie was made to be watched in 4k. They obviously put a heck of a lot of time and an insane amount of money into all the visuals from day 1 to make it mind melting awesome for the viewer. I think the 4k visuals more than make up for the "more to be desired" parts of the story. As far as the whole VR headset gaming thing talking over the entire world replacing real life in the future..... Well sh** look around. I thought that was a very realistic possibility of our future. I mean how many people do we know right now today that spend all day every day with their heads buried so far in their smart phone/computer screens they don't even live in the real world anymore. The only thing stopping people like that from using VR is the price and availability. Make VR cheap and affordable enough the whole world can have it and smart phones become the flip phone. Just another obsolete piece of tech. Is this my favorite movie of all time??? Of Course Not. It doesn't need to be. Is this my favorite 4K movie??? No but it"s definitely on the top 10 list! That's my whole point here. IMO this was made from day 1 to be a "4K Movie". The visuals in 4k are mind meltingly awesome. Hundreds of moving parts all over the screen, vivid colors, more cool characters on screen at one time than you can count on a 3rd re-watch. Flying 3d looking metal coins coming at you, you flying through the air and even the racing scenes all scream 4k visuals to me. I'm sorry for those that were expecting the movie to be as good as the book. I cant think of a single movie/show off the top of my head that was as good as the books. Expecting that is a sure was to always be disappointed IMO. I'm sorry for anyone that has never watched a "made for 4k movie" in 4k as it was intended. You don't know what you are missing. I enjoyed the heck out of this movie. I have all the 10ish times I've seen it. The visuals blow my mind every time. And it has enough pop culture references and comedy in it to keep me laughing and entertained throughout the whole thing start to finish. What more should I expect from a movie? It's for entertainment and I was thoroughly entertained. (thanks to the 1 person that actually read this whole freakin comment...)

Robert 'Jemimus' Kloosterhuis

If you are gonna read the book, make sure you have seen "War Games'. Might as well watch it and record for a reaction :)

Richard Flores

Read Stephen King's "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption". Then, watch the movie "The Shawshank Redemption (1994)". This is not a challenge, I agree with you. This is not a fight, I agree with you. This is the exception that proves the rule.

Alan Kobb

I am shocked to hear George ask "Why is it called the Zemeckis Cube?"!!! Robert Zemeckis, director of so many great movies that you reacted to such as Cast Away, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Forrest Gump and... BACK TO THE FUTURE (1, 2 and 3)!!!!!! So, yes, George. Robert Zemeckis did a movie about that. Then he did another one, and since they still hadn't made enough money, they made a 3rd movie about that!

Generators

i think hes asking why a cube of all things, why not zemeckis pyramid or zemeckis orb.

FranciscoGios

If you know Battletoads you are old but young of the soul, they were the frogs you see in front of the big battle and almost in the beginning of the movie. Also I saw that big tear drop stain in slow motion:D

Fabian Kracik

if you liked this one then I recommend "free guy"... funny as hell

Patrick Egan

I know people rave about the book, but honestly I feel like the movie is better in many ways. When I read the book the first time I absolutely loved it, but now it reads like a teenage boy's nerd power fantasy. And while I did enjoy the challenges as they were laid out in the book, they wouldn't have translated well to the screen.
