Quentin related in an interview contained in some bonus footage on the Jackie Brown DVD his favorite movie review of all time. He describes watching the film during its opening night incognito at a local theater in 1996, then upon exiting he noticed an older black woman recognize a friend and call her over, asking her the following: "You seen that movie Jackie Brown? Wasn't it good?" Wasn't it good, indeed!

Scott G

I agree. I enjoy Jackie Brown but I think Out of Sight is the perfect Leonard adaptation. It just captures the tone of his novels so much better.

The Cop with the mustache that Simone doesn't like is Buck from Kill Bill

Young Blood Priest

If you can’t afford to bail someone out you go to a bail bondsman who will front the money in exchange for collateral. If that person skips bail the bondsman will take whatever you put up for collateral in order to get their money back.

Pam Nail

The guy on TV who needs a beautiful woman is Tony Curtis, who was a big star in the 50s and 60s and is also the father of Jamie Lee Curtis.

Brant

As you finish out the Tarantino filmography, don’t forget Death Proof (2007). It was made as part of a double feature with Robert Rodriguez in the style of 70’s exploitation films. Rodriguez’s half of the double feature, Planet Terror, is also very fun.

Young Blood Priest

Damn. All the times I’ve watched this movie I never noticed that dude. The original owner of the “Pussy Wagon!” 😆

Prof. Writhms

Pam Grier was a big star of the Blaxploitation genre back in the 70s. Quentin Tarantino was a big fan of Grier growing up and this was his homage to her and the genre. One of her movies was "Foxy Brown" (1974) and Tarantino used the same 70s title font to spell out "Jackie Brown". The title song "Across 110th street" was the title song from the (1972) movie of the same name.

Chris Tucker was in the movie Friday and was a really popular actor at the time he was in this movie so maybe that's why he was giving that recognition in the credits. Also in Friday from this movie is Tommy "Tiny" Lister Jr. The Big guy that works with Max at the bail bondsman office

Lucas Gifford

yesss the most underrated Tarantino film!

Sarah

I like to believe that Max stays in LA just long enough to finish closing his business, then follows Jackie to Spain <3

Rob Parry

My favorite Tarantino movie also and probably most underrated. Fun reaction.

Young Blood Priest

Sid Haig had a big roll in Foxy Brown as one of the henchmen. He has a cameo in Jackie Brown as the judge in Jackie’s arraignment hearing. Q pays homage wherever he can.

Young Blood Priest

I don’t think Simone or George recognized Tiny but he also played the president in The Fifth Element.

Monica Alarcon

I think the movie in the background is kinda out of phase... but it's okay, I synched using the timer so it's all good :-)

Florian Geyer

Now there is only "Dead Proof" left of the Tarantino legacy, am I right?

Haye Zeus

Yeah Jackie Brown is my fav Tarantino. If I had to rank them i’d say 1. Jackie Brown The rest just randomly put them wherever. But dead last will have to be OUATIH.

Pam Nail

I love all of QT's films and think they're all great in their own ways, but my personal preference ranking is: 1. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 2. Kill Bill vol. 2 3. Jackie Brown 4. Kill Bill vol. 1 (if I'm counting KB as one movie, it's #2 with JB still at #3) 5. Pulp Fiction 6. Death Proof 7. Inglourious Basterds 8. Django Unchained 9. Hateful Eight 10. Reservoir Dogs

Odd Thomas

Not my favourite Tarantino tbh. If I had to rank them: 1. Kill Bill 1 2. Kill Bill 2 3. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 5. Death Proof 6. Inglorious B 7. Hateful Eight 8. Django Unchained 9. Jackie Brown 10. Reservoir Dogs

Ricardo Alanis

This is top of my QT list along with the Kill Bill films. Such great low-key intricate camera work, fantastic cast, great dialogue and performances. Just now realized the cop with the mustache is Pussy Wagon Buck from Kill Bill vol 1.

REDR58

Ah, Bridget Fonda...

Monica Alarcon

Now you need to watch The Hateful Eight (honestly my least favorite QT movie), Death Proof (I'm on the fence if you should watch the theatrical or extended version, I'd say theatrical is you intend to react to GRINDHOUSE and watch Planet Terror also or extended if it's only Death Proof.) Also worth a watch are True Romance and Natural Born Killers, written but not directed by QT. I actually bought the books with the original scripts just to compare the finished product with his original vision.... But the movies are really good too.. Natural Born Killers is probably the most violent movie I've seen.

Charlie Keeler

I really enjoyed Hateful...actually love all QT works, so I'm a bit biased

Kyle Baker

Yay! This is like a top 5 movie for me all time.

Eddy V Ruiz II

His piece of 4 Rooms was very good as well

david moreland

Feel in a lot of ways this is the forgotten Tarantino movie as it rarely gets a mention but glad I re watched it with you as it really is pretty fantastic.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

I don't really like ranking things like music and movies because my rankings are constantly changing, but I will take this opportunity to recommend the two movies Tarantino wrote but did not direct: "True Romance," which I love, and "Natural Born Killers", which I didn't love so much (didn't hate it but Tarantino supposedly DID). I think this movie was underrated at the time because of just how huge his first two films were. Reservoir Dogs wasn't a huge hit necessarily but there was a lot of buzz about it, and Pulp Fiction was a total game changer. So I think people who were expecting something more like those two, with so much more violence and the crazy timeline, just didn't take the time to appreciate this one. Man I love this soundtrack, not what I usually listen to but it brings back memories, my aunts and uncles were always playing stuff like that when I was a kid, what I'd call "Oldies". Lots of Delfonics, Al Green, Earth, Wind, & Fire. No auto tune back in the day haha

PIG

In this order: Pulp Fiction Reservoir Dogs Jackie Brown Death Proof Kill Bill 2 Kill Bill 1 Once Upon a time Inglorious Bastard Django Hateful 8

Alan Kobb

Since it was such a major plot point, George, the little thing on the phone cord is so that the cord doesn't get tangled, because over time people swist the receiver and the cord gets swisted. https://www.amazon.com/Telephone-Detangler-Uvital-Anti-Tangle-Untangler/dp/B07423KW3V/ref=asc_df_B07423KW3V/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309708743736&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11427881059389772450&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9003533&hvtargid=pla-562717049702&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=60510342446&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=309708743736&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11427881059389772450&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9003533&hvtargid=pla-562717049702 This comes free of charge from Alan's House of Important Knowledge.

Yeah they are about 5 or 6 seconds behind the movie (on HBO, anyway).

Logan Kerlee

Holy shit.. this movie was INCREDIBLE! I really enjoyed watching this with you both. This was a first time watch for me and yeah.. just plain awesome, Wow..

Alex Ch

This is actually the second movie where Michael Keaton plays agent Ray Nicolette. The first is based on another novel by the same author called Out of Sight. It’s by Steven Soderbergh starring George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez and it’s really worth watching.

sarCC

Yay! Now you can watch OUT OF SIGHT, which I think is a much better Elmore Leonard adaptation(Get Shorty is also better, and really fun).
