Just rewatched Atla, I wonder if they'll watch Legend of Korra

Mati D.

Just for reference, Denzel NEVER did a sequel, except for this movie.

Fuzzy Dunlop

George, you're thinking of Training Day (Denzel in a car with a toothpick) A must watch Denzel movie.

Jeff K

That movie is worth watching for the “Still Dre” scene with the car alone. (In addition to the rest being good)

For Denzel movies: Training Day is the big one that every reaction channel should have. Crimson Tide with Gene Hackman (and pre LotR Vigo Mortensen) was huge in the 90s Courage Under Fire is one of my favorite movies. With Meg Ryan, Lou Diamond Philips and baby Matt Damon.

The Equalizer was a show on CBS in the 80’s, this is a reboot/remake. Now there’s a new Equalizer show starring Queen Latifah.

Jeff K

Bill Pullman has kinda played a villain? He was a “bad” guy in the movie Ruthless People but a really dumb, bumbling one. (It’s a dark comedy with Danny DeVito and Bette Midler)

mojo shivers

This and John Wick came out the same year so I always lumped them together as the best revenge thrillers to come out in a long time. But whereas Wick went into spawn pretty successful and good sequels, The Equalizer’s sequel was a bit of a letdown. But at least the first one kicked ass. That final standoff with its Home Alone-style traps is inspired.

Andy H.

He also plays a douche bag in You Kill Me. Not really a villain, but not his normal nice guy.

Jobbe Smit

Man on Fire really feels like an prequel to this and totally worth a watch. Not on the same level of 'coolness' this movie brings but great.

Dave Gaskin

I love all the movies starring Denzel that were all directed by the late Tony Scott: Crimson Tide Deja Vu Man on Fire The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009) Unstoppable

michael clarke

have you done denzels training day? he won an oscar for it.

And that new show is terrible, unfortunately. The original show had that similar mysterious, quiet, planned, somewhat "off" vibe that this movie, while very different, still emulate in some way. In some way, from a certain point of view, I would put the show alongside Miami Vice. Less flashy, but with that kind of stylized grounded off handish vibe, with a protagonist working against an unstoppable tide of heaviness and pessimism.

As said, the iconic toothpick one is from Training Day. As for Denzel movie recommendations, in order, I would say: - Man on Fire: it could be compared to The Equalizer, but in a less supernatural John Wick way, more contrasted and grounded. Not a "great" movie, but a good simple one. - Fallen: it's a less known one, and a very underrated one. I can't say anything because going in blind elevate the whole, but it is a very nice movie, also with John Goodman, Donalf Sutherland, and James Gandolfini. - Inside Man: one of the best heist movie there is, directed by Spike Lee, also with Clive Owen. 'nough said. - once you have a few more Denzel movies under your belt, then of course Training Day. - After that, American Gangster was a very interesting movie, not totally dissimilar to a Casino or a Goodfellas but with a different vibe of course. - and the list is getting long, and there's much more. Malcom X, of course. But so many more too.

Thomas Bengtsson

Yeah, Deja Vu and Pelham 123 as mentioned above. American Gangster...

jmundt33a

Their second attempt to wreck a great concept with a cashgrab. That would be a Cinecringe candidate. Like The Last Airbender live action was.

Jinyatta

I liked Book of Eli as well

jmundt33a

Deja Vu, The Magnificent Seven remake are excellent. Man on Fire and Unstoppable are another pair of good choices. Can't believe I forgot Inside Man. The fixer is portrayed by Martin Csokas.

jmundt33a

Reeves played a villain in Much Ado About Nothing. Bill Pullman was a villain in The Guilty from 2000, I think.

jmundt33a

As far as the cool factor of monologues, I once saw an interview with Denzel where the interviewer spaced out while he was talking. He broke off his answer and asked if she was okay.

Jacob Lantom

American money is green like that

AdNoctumLoki .

My favorite Denzel Washington movie is Bonecollector from 1999 i think, Angelina Jolie is in it aswell. I would love to see someone react to it.

Roberto Abitua

Hey, if you ALWAYS trust Bill Paxton ... Go ahead and watch his one (I think) directorial effort (starred too), FRAILTY 🫣 Great reaction, as always!

John

Crimson Tide is a great movie. Kind of topical right now too.

Peter Dillard

Beyond Equalizer 2 there is Book of Eli for a Denzel action movie.

BlackOpsElf

I used to work in Home Depot. The staff rooms were actually like that. TV, couches, etc.

E.P.B.F.

I know many people will advocate for Training Day and Man on Fire as Denzel's signature performances, but as Simone reminded us there is a bigger picture to consider here so prevent Gobal Warming we have to go with Glory instead since it has both Denzel Washington _and_ Morgan Freeman giving monologues in it (plus Ferris Bueller and Wesley from Princess Bride). It's the responsible thing to do. ... wait a minute... it's freezing outside and my gas and power bills are through the roof. Forget everything i said. Global warming is a good thing ,and we can't watch any more Denzel Washington movies, ever. Spread the word!

Kevin R Studer

Training Day (for which he won a Best Actor Oscar) is probably his most notable role.

James Falato

And No PETS Were Murdered In The Making Of This Movie!!!

Soccerdmon

A movie where they think they know the good guy...Dumb and Dumber, The Man who knew too little...

Elgrouch

Keanu played a villain in a martial arts movie featuring Tiger Chen called Man of Tai Chi

Hunter Adams

If you would like to see more Denzel Washington *and* get Keanu Reeves as a villain, I recommend Much Ado About Nothing (1993), directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh. It's a film version of the Shakespearean play, and it's quite good. And if you enjoy it, I also recommend the 2012 version, directed by Joss Whedon, which was shot in under two weeks at Whedon's house, and features about half the cast of Angel and Firefly.

Who Are These People

I'd love to see some Shakespeare here, unlikely to ever win a poll considering the demographic. - 'Taming of the Shrew' (1967) Best way to see a Shakespearean movie for the first time. Costumes, music, performances- gorgeous. - 'Much Ado About Nothing' was good because of seasoned Shakespearean actor Kenneth Branagh and his then-wife Emma Thompson. Keanu Reeves, Michael Keaton and Denzel Washington were also there. - Branagh also did a great 'Henry V', a very good movie for intro to Shakespeare (I didn't like his 'Hamlet' as much, despite the prestigious cast). - Ian McKellen did a good 'Richard III', but I like Al Pacino's 'Looking for Richard' because of the behind-the-scenes stuff (and I bet Simone would like that too given her cinema experience).

Lee McDaniel

Keanu played a bad guy in The Gift (2000, not 2015). It's got an amazing lineup of actors (is it too much info to share the list of big names in it?). Criminally undervalued movie.

Darren Harrison

I am surprised so few people are aware of the original 1980s television series starring Edward Woodward as Robert McCall. There was debate about his backstory in this reaction. If they had been familiar with the series they would have known his backstory.

R.L.HUNTER

How have they not done Equalizer 2 and 3 yet, and Man on Fire [just for the semi crossover in 3 iykyk]
