Awesome movie! Gonna have to find a way to get Severance on your next TV poll. But how to make this happen...

Woody G

Denzel is such a Legend. Between Training Day, John Q, Remember the Titans etc

JayF

Great choice! So many fantastic Denzel performances to choose from. You really can't go wrong with him. Edit - I didn't find out why I was born until I got a job with Animal Control at age 42. So there's still plenty of time for both of you.

JediLounger

When the alert for this post popped up on my notifications a singular thought occurred to me. Simone and George have probably never seen Training Day (2001). I would advise you guys add this movie to the top of the list. Personally I enjoy Antoine Fuqua’s movies, even the lesser ones. The extended cut of King Arthur (2004) is pretty cool. Shooter (2007) and Olympus Has Fallen (2013) are both pretty good, way better than they should be due to the excellent action and commitment to not cutting away from the violence, similar to The Equalizer and the 2018 sequel. On a related note, when Olympus Has Fallen came out, a similar movie by Roland Emmerich called White House Down (2013) came out a few months later. If you watch Olympus Has Fallen, watch White House Down after, it is hysterical, almost parody level laugh’s through the entire movie. It would be well suited for Cinecringe but I think you guys would have a blast. Edit: George, I can almost guarantee the meme you are referring to is from Training Day. It would also be relevant for Oscar season.

Duncan

"Training Day (2001)" a must watch Denzel movie

Martin

Can’t go wrong with Denzel. Definitely need to react to Training Day, Man on Fire, and Malcom X.

8bitAndy

The comments are all Denzel movie recommendations, and no one is mentioning Glory? Come on team.

Josh B.

The Book of Eli is a fun Denzel movie

Foodassassin4life

Keanu Reeves is the bad guy in The Man of Tai chi

Jay Davis

Agree. Fallen and Man on Fire would be healthy additions to the Denzel library. This franchise is a nice reboot of a TV series we grew up with in the 80s called The Equalizer staring someone you saw watching closed circuit TVs for the NWA in Hot Fuzz, Edward Woodward.

samuel Jakob

Nice suprise! I still prefer this one over John Wick when it comes to the whole package, but both are great movies.

Lyle Morgan

His Magnificent Seven remake was entertaining. It's pretty paint by numbers but it's stylistic and he knows how to make charismatic stars even more charismatic. It's a fun watch.

Young Blood Priest

I’m surprised this is the first time I’ve seen a Denzel movie here. Maybe add Training Day, Inside Man and Malcolm X to a future poll? Guarantee you won’t be disappointed with any of these.

Justin Wolford

Training Day!!! Best Denzel Washington movie!!! Same director as this one Antoine Fuqua. They are such a great team. Thatbeing said i have never seen a bad Denzel Washington movie. And he has an amazing filmography: Remember the Titans, Glory, Man on fire, John Q, etc. Can the next poll just be Denzel Washington Movies, lmao.

Jayson Phillips

Part 2 is even better, This was based off an 80's TV show of the same name, can you imagine John Wick, Robert McCall, and the guy from Nobody teaming up? who could stop them? What if..... Clark Kent was targeted by the Mafia or Cartels for a story he wrote about them and the whole movie is them just trying to kill him but they can never figure out why he won't die?

Wirenfeldt Jr

I am pretty sure that Keanu is the bad guy in Man of Tai Chi.. Also instructed it..

Odd Thomas

Love this one but the sequel was utterly forgettable tho; I mean I literally can't remember anything that happened. Man on Fire is the best Denzel movie imo; I highly recommend it

Odd Thomas

Simone if you dig Tri-Star you need to watch Short Circuit!

Thomas Yanez

Not sure what this says, but you guys are the only reactors that ALWAYS seem to have deleted messages when I first check new (to me) posts that are more than a few hours old.

Generators

man you really like to throw accusations at them dont you. like every other video i see you post something accusatory

Arthur

Yep, came to check if someone had already answered this after I heard George ask the question. He indeed was the villain in that film, which was his directorial debut. Also, the protagonist in that film is the guy who gets that slow eye stab in Wick 3.

Thomas Yanez

I remember the opening scene, due to the costume... and... and some inclement weather at some point. But, I also remember kind of enjoying it, but now I can't say why. That probably speaks more than saying "I remember kind of enjoying it".

Odd Thomas

Bill Pullman plays a sort of villain in Lost Highway. Excellent David Lynch movie.

Odd Thomas

Man on Fire is The Equilizer but with a ton more heart and even more style. If I had to pick a desert island Denzel movie, this would win hands down. Is there even a 'bad' Denzel movie? There are movies he's IN that may be bad (Virtuosity springs to mind) but I can't think of a film where I thought HE was bad in it. So basically I'm saying watch everything! (Man on Fire first)

Robert C

Man On Fire is top of the Denzel list for me also. For a Tristar film with a lot of 80’s cheese try Iron Eagle with Louis Gossett Jr. Hilarious to watch now but when I was a kid I thought itwas the best war film ever made.

Tim Boxall

The original series with Edward Woodward had one of the best theme tunes of the '80s! And if you say "Edward Woodward" fast it sounds like farting in the bath.

Ben

I must admit, when I saw that Simone & George had reacted to this movie ... I had no interest in watching it, BUT I was immediately reminded of that great theme tune and immediately went to watch it on youtube. It's also fun to say "Edward Woodward" without the "D's".

Kocyte

I didn't see anyone mention Deja Vu and another DW movie, but it's also pretty good.

Brant

An unfairly underrated movie in my opinion. Tony Scott is a great director, and Denzel is fantastic as always.

Logan Kerlee

1000% necessity! Short Circuit is a must watch for everyone. It's so damn fun! :)

Logan Kerlee

Man on Fire is a must watch (for sure)! And yeah, I can't name any where he was the lead actor where the movie was just plain bad or boring. His films are well acted and directed. I'm glad that he's only in good ones. :)

Logan Kerlee

Really enjoyed this watchalong! I first saw this movie years and years ago. I'm pretty sure that I watched this alone - I don't think my ex wife was around when I first saw this. Anyway - this movie is great!! I'm very happy that you both enjoyed watching. :)

RLYtoxic

The Taking of Pelham 123 is probably one of my favorite Denzel movies and you get John Travolta.

Forrest Tanaka

For Denzel, Pelham 123 and Man on Fire are my favorites. Flight is interesting.

Jesus F Christ

That song at the end just before the closing credits is Moby's cover of Joy Division's New Dawn Fades. It was also used in Heat when Pacino is on the highway catching up with Dinero to pull him over and invite him for coffee. The original is great, but I've always loved that cover of it too. It's really intense. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjwQ4QYIeBw As far as Denzel movies I'd echo Crimson Tide, Glory, and Malcolm X, but Training Day has to go at the top of the list. Bonus Link: The opening credits of the original Equalizer tv show from the 80s that this show was based on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g87nDBIyqeU

Joe Mallard

Remember the Titans is probably my favorite Denzel movie.

benjamin hall

please add "Nobody" to a poll or something if u haven't already unless you've seen it already

Richard B.

Yes more Denzel, if your looking for something I never see anyone mention try Inside Man.

Odd Thomas

The creepy dude was actually in LOTR; he's the elf with Galadriel when the Hobbits first meet her. He's also an effective creepy dude in Kingdom of Heaven and The Bourne Supremecy

Tiberius

You should check out Dead Man's Shoes if you're looking for more movies in this kind of vein. I really think you would both love it.

Martin Nicholls

Definitely don't be afraid to do more Denzel movies, lotta good suggestions in the comments too - I'm going to literally burst if you don't do a Training Day reaction soon, I saw Man on Fire mentioned - incredibly underrated movie and one of my favourites, American Gangster is a great movie, The Book of Eli is great too. He's one of those actors with a really good agent who finds roles for him that fit him perfectly, there's hardly a dud in his entire imdb page. When his son (John David) wasn't that well known back in the early days of Ballers I was watching an inverview where he was talking about growing up as Denzel's son, apparently he was a massive hard ass absolutely riding his kids to be better, the scenes where he's coaching Ralphie in this make me think of that for some reason.. It's funny you mentioned Kick Ass - the actress who plays Teri in this (who gets beat up by her pimp) is Mindy in Kick Ass rofl :)

braaap

I hope This Is The End isn't too far away :D

Chase Schleich

I just realized you've never done Training Day. Probably Denzel's best and most famous film. HOW THE HELL?!! Training Day! Now! Go!

Chase Schleich

They've never even watched Training Day. There's this giant gold mine of Denzel films that they've never touched. Fingers crossed that changes now.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Pretty sure George is thinking of a still photo of Denzel from Training Day, except it's a cigarette not a tooth pick in the scene I'm thinking of. I can't believe that movie is over twenty years old now, it's still one of my all time favorite Denzel movies and roles. As far as other iconic roles he's played I always think of him as Trip in "Glory", which is a great movie, and which he won an Academy Award for; as Malcolm X in the biopic; and as Tom Hanks' lawyer in "Philadelphia", but there are honestly so many.

Tomcats62

Where to start with Denzel suggestions? Here are some that a lot of people have not reacted to and then some that are just great. Crimson Tide, Remember the Titans, Malcolm X, Unstoppable, American Gangster, Deja Vu, Out of Time, Training Day, Courage Under Fire and a lot more but I don't have all day.

Alex Ch

The comedy George wants to see, where the villains are convinced the hero is executing a brilliant plan, is a Bill Murray movie called The Man Who Knew Too Little.

S

Remember the titans and book of Eli are my favorite Denzel flicks.

Foodassassin4life

Inside Man is another great movie with Denzel Washington and Clive Owen

sheriffjt

Only comment I've seen that mentioned Glory, he was so good in it. Plus Matthew Broderick with an era-appropriate mustache!

Jonas Buckner

You almost cannot go wrong picking any random Denzel movie, but the one I think you two would particularly enjoy is called John Q.

Jack Burton

breaking the window control in the car is pretty easy to do before he even gets him in the car. no plot hole. also the 'get out' stuff is money and passport so he can leave and info on the bad guy for insurance.
