Heck Yeah! Training Day!

NaffyWaffy

Do we know when Man of Steel is dropping?

Kalak451

I would vote for "Crimson Tide" or "Courage Under Fire" for Denzel good guy movies. People also love "Remember the Titans".

Pam Nail

"Philadelphia" and "The Pelican Brief" are good movies for good-guy Denzel. Also, if you're into Shakespeare, he's quite charming in "Much Ado About Nothing (1993)" and -- on the other end of the spectrum -- terrifying in "Tragedy of Macbeth" (2021).

Jason Pratt

Fallen is also a great Denzel flick, it also has James Gandolfini and John Goodman.

Jason Pratt

His character in Fallen is the polar opposite of this one.

Montel Durham

This may be random but since y’all brought up terry crews I think y’all should watch “White Chicks” starring Marlon and Shawn Wayans and terry crews their all hilarious

Andy H.

Denzel is a 'good' guy (for a certain value of good) in Man on Fire. He is also a 'good' guy in The Book of Eli. In both cases he is rude/gruff/ruthless, but he does good.

Brandon Scott

Hoping others will back me up on this: A good guy, can't-help-but-empathize-with-him Denzel Character....:: John Q (!!!100%!!!)

Ohmss

He's a good guy in the 1993's version of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. It's basically presented as a stage play on film, but has a killer cast in Denzel, Keanu Reeves, Michael Keaton, Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, and Kate Beckinsale's first film role.

Brandon Meng

Was waiting to see how long it would take to find this movie mentioned. So good and underrated in his filmography.

8bitAndy

There's so much depth to Denzel's performances, it almost doesn't matter if he's playing a "good guy" or a "bad guy". He plays his roles as a person who feels real and flawed and believable in his motivations and that sort of makes the good/bad guy label not really apply. Instead of looking for his "nicest" role, you should really be checking out his best roles instead. Malcolm X, Glory, Crimson Tide, Remember the Titans, Courage Under Fire, He Got Game and The Hurricane are some of my favs, but it's really hard to go wrong with this man's body of work.

underAtack

I feel like he doesn't get enough love for "John Q". If you want to watch a movie that's equal parts suspenseful and emotional with a great cast, that's the way to go! Please watch it!

Jeff K

I would go with Remember the Titans, if you're looking for a movie where you can REALLY root for Denzel. Added bonus: Wood Harris (Avon Barksdale) is also one of the stars. I would say Denzel's breakout role was probably Glory, for which he won an Oscar but he was very young. Civil War movie that also features Morgan Freeman, Matthew Broderick, Andre Braugher, and Cary Elwes.

Ken Myers

this movie to me is just overrated. Yes, great actors, and good performances. But the story itself is ridiculously incestuous. It is like if some one living in a small town where everyone knows everyone and you run into people all the time going about your day tries to write a movie set in Los Angeles or Dallas or any urban sprawl and they write how characters keep bumping into each other coincidentally, and if you actually lived in those types of cities, you'd be like, "that NEVER happens, this is ridonkeylus!" Some stories have an obvious implied "fish bowl" approach where all the characters live in this tiny fish bowl where they keep intersecting, even though they ostensibly say the story is in Los Angeles or whatever. Anyway, the unrealistic contrivances surrounding the intersection of characters in this movie was absurd and kicked me out of any ability to actually stay invested in the characters and plot.

Inside Man is a great movie. I guess Denzel would be considered the main character, but the supporting cast is also fantastic. It also has a bunch of twists that I didn’t see coming, along with a very satisfying conclusion. Also gonna throw in Remember the Titans, as someone else already suggested, as an absolutely fantastic film.

Blacky

Inside Man is a terrific Spike Lee movie, a great heist movie, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster, Christopher Plummer, and a plot that keep the audience on the edge of their seat.

Jason McCloud

Alonzo's license plate, ORP 967, is a reference to Officer Rafael Perez who was born in 1967. He was one of LA's most crooked cops and the basis for not only this movie, but the TV show “The Shield".

jmundt33a

Fallen is another Denzel film worth checking out.

Byron

Glory. It’s also got Matthew Broderick, Cary Elwes, Morgan Freeman, Andre Braugher, and a whole bunch of “hey it’s that Guy”s

jmundt33a

That might be his breakout. Higher profile than Ricochet. He played Steven Biko a couple years earlier.

G G

He’s definitely the bad guy in this. The depth of His performance doesn’t change that.

Wrencher86

Inside Man for a "Denzel as good guy" movie.

jack ass

Fallen or Man on Fire

JH

American Gangster (Denzel as a equally terrifying and charismatic, if not more than Alonzo, as he plays a NYC prolific drug kingpin, Frank Lucas- BASED ON REAL EVENTS). And for a good Guy, like The Equalizer, —- watch the film, The Book of Eli—- ALSO A VERY UNDERRATED FILM and one of my favorites: The Siege, starring Denzel, Bruce Willis, Annette Bening and Tony Shalhoub.—- however some films that run the gambit which tests his range: Flight, Crimson Tide, Glory(one do his first), He Got Game, Fences, and The Great Debaters. Try. Them. All. And heck, throw in The Mighty Quinn and Roman J. Israel Esq..

christopher b swanson

worst 1st day on a job.........Ben Sliney....................the head of the FAA national operations center for the united states 1st day on the job was 9/11...........he was the one without authority, but correctly, made the critical decision to halt all air traffic in the US...............that's a crazy 1st day............... before lunchtime even hit................well portrayed in movie flight 93

dom

you should watch malcolm x or american gangster

BlueTrane

Man on Fire, Glory, Remember the Titans, the Siege, Deja Vu,... all his movies are good. Do all of those please. :) Malcolm X and Pelican Brief are also really good, but maybe not as good for reaction videos.

TJ

Remember the Titans.

Kangdarius

Devil in a blue dress! It always gets overlooked in Denzel’s catalog but it’s one of his best. Great dialogue and who doesn’t love a nice noir film

Justin Wolford

Denzels break out role was Glory which also stars morgan freeman and mathew Broderick and is a civil war movie. His best heartwarming roles are remember the titans (a football movie) and john Q about a father who struggles to find a way to get his son the medical treatment he needs

Andrew

This movie is so damn good. One of my favorite Denzel roles ever. And Russell Crowe is good also. The Siege was so prophetic. I remember when it came out, seeing it with my mom in theaters.

Andrew

When you guys said, "Hello, I'd like one drug please," it reminded me It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. There's an episode where they're buying crack and the character says, "One please." I don't know if you have seen that show, but if not, you should definitely check it out. It's like, 16 seasons, so reacting to it would be an endeavor, haha.

Who Are These People

More Denzel; 'Philadelphia'. Tom Hanks won the Oscar, but I remember it as the first time I noticed Denzel.

Jon

Antwone Fisher is a fantastic movie with Denzel directing and playing a good character. It’s based on a true story and I think you both would really enjoy it.

Mister Forbez

Denzel had a few smaller roles before it, but his breakout was definitely 'Glory,' for which he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Not a huge role, but very... supportive. It's a good Civil War movie that includes Matthew Broderick ('Ferris Bueller'), Cary Elwes (Wesley from 'The Princess Bride'), Andre Braugher (young Captain Holt), and Morgan Freeman (Morgan Freeman), Also highly recommend 'Malcolm X' and 'Philadelphia' for very different subjects, and 'Ricochet' as a silly early 90's action movie, with John Lithgow eating scenery wherever he can.

Brandon Meng

Not gonna scroll through all the comments but if John Q is not recommended after your movie comments and wanting to see Denzel in that likeable hero role, it's a travesty.

Eric Brown

Crimson Tide or Unstoppable!! Both very fun Denzel movies where he plays a hero! Both directed by Tony Scott
