George is correct. Only in America do we wear panties.

droodly

The small dog thing is cultural. Canadians could NEVER understand.

Generators

Definitely just personal preference cause sense of humor is subjective blah blah, but.. Im 50 mins into the movie, and I havent laughed once. had to stop it. it's just not that funny to me :( as George calls it, "everything is just literal".

Mitchell Bowker

The plot of Top Gun: Maverick is the same as this movie.

Einherj

Top Secret! (1984) when?

Mitchell Bowker

A really good spoof movie is TOP SECRET! starring Val Kilmer, a parody of spy films and Elvis Presley musicals.

redddfer44

Yeah, same. I like Airplane! and Police Squad! a lot, but this just doesn't have the same sort of energy.

redddfer44

Oddly, I've never really cared for this, even when I adored the second one as a kid. If you watch more of 90s comedies, btw, I must keep repeating myself and recommend you really watch Casablanca.

Matt Chris

Please continue with the Mission Impossible movies and Bourne movies DEF worth it

JayF

That whole part towards the beginning in the native village was spoofing Dances With Wolves...which I'm patiently waiting for a reaction to.

MikeBdrx

Oh if we could get a Spoof Movie Thursdays going for a few weeks, that would be great lol

BND

have you guys seen Wayne's World? I really think you'd enjoy it

Joe Mallard

The second one is way better.

Jomero

The chihuahua is just a running gag. Nothing more complex than that.

faiszal

The food scene was a reference to 9 1/2 weeks, an 80s erotic thriller with Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke.

MikeBdrx

You should check out Beyond the Law. Which is a really good Charlie Sheen movie.

Monica Alarcon

Honestly not a fan of this movie, maybe because I don't like Top Gun... But part two, sorry, part Deux is one of my favorite spoofs...

Thomas Handcock

honestly i never found Hot Shots! funny....Hot Shots! Part Deux however is hilarious

Odd Thomas

The Twilight spoof is actually really funny. I think it was called Vampire's Suck.

Odd Thomas

The blonde pilot is Kristy Swanson and she was the original Buffy. She also made another film with Charlie Sheen in '94 called The Chase, which was pretty fun but Speed (quite rightly) left it in the dust. For more Lloyd Bridges, he actually made a film with his son Jeff, the 90's actioner Blown Away, which I think is great, but sadly forgotten. Some amazing stunts in that. Cary Elwes is an underrated comedy actor and he was in Mel Brook's Robin Hood spoof Men in Tights. He's also in the first Saw movie (it's great, directed by horror master James Wan, but the sequels just descended into torture porn nonsense)

🖤I totally get asking about the jets saying "The Navy" on the sides because it looks weird. Because it's not as if the Navy is a business where it makes sense to have the company name on their vehicles like a fleet of plumbing vans or something LOLLL. So a valid observation. I've seen pictures of jets that say "Navy" on them but not "The Navy" so for comedy sake that "The" makes all the difference 😂🤣

akaTheBARON

🖤You're a GD rockstar! Yeah, for the most part I don't think I've ever heard it said either so never really knew how it was pronounced. They ripped on him on Family Guy once and Stewie said his name but I couldn't quite grasp at how he was pronouncing it LOLLL

Haye Zeus

Top Secret and the sequel to this movie are my fave spoof movies.

REDR58

It's interesting, because on the sides of their respective aircraft, it's still "MARINES" and "NAVY" yet (used to be) "United States Air Force" or "U. S. AIR FORCE" and then just "USAF" (but now, apparently nothing) and "UNITED STATES ARMY" for those two branches. I suppose the Marines and Navy figured they didn't need to be specific. :)

JayF

The whole food sex scene was a spoof on a movie you've not reacted to yet. (no spoilers)

Pearl Jam

One movie where the original actor played in the spoof was “Not Another Teen Movie” where Paul Gleason played his counterpart from “The Breakfast Club”… and it looks like Richard Crenna from “Rambo” also played in “Hot Shots! Part Deux”.

sarCC

Neat!

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

I feel kind of bad for this joke I heard recently, but I have to: How much drugs did Charlie Sheen do? Enough to kill Two and A Half Men. Sorry. I agree with a lot of the other comments, I think the second is funnier, even more meta, and I love that a certain well respected actor has a cameo in it, don't want to spoil it though.

Joe Mallard

Though it's not a spoof, y'all should react to Blockers, hilarious movie!

dieselbeast

"Not Another Teen Movie" is my favorite parody movie, worth a reaction, even if you haven't seen every single movie its referencing youll get most of them to some degree just from existing and pop culture lol

Chris Moon

You guys should watch Horrible Bosses!

Chase Schleich

That movie was way worse than I remembered. I liked it when I first saw it 20 years ago, but watching it today..... it was just blah. Pretty sure the sequel is better though.

Gary Fixler

I remember some behind the scenes of this movie from waaay back in the day, early 90s. They actually cooked the breakfast on her stomach. It was a ceramic thing they built and painted and put on top of a small stove.

Huckleberry lobo

these parodies seem like prequels to Idiocracy 🤣

JonnyBoomstick

I think a good movie for you to watch is Red Dawn (The 1984 one. They remade it in 2012 and they're both good)

John

If you liked Charlie Sheen in this, a possible poll is Young Charlie Sheen movies (Wall Street, Red Dawn, Young Guns, Major League, Eight Men Out, Platoon)

Tanx

Saw this in the theaters when I was a kid. some of the jokes went over my head but got most of the movie references. I think I liked the sequel much more. It's a spoof on the sequel to Rambo if I remember right. Emilio Estevez also did a spoof movie of Lethal Weapon called National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1 with Samuel L Jackson that was ok...ish. after the success of Scary Movie, spoof movies became an epidemic. and they basically just tried to target the most popular movies out and get them out as fast as possible, which back then was straight to vhs/dvd. no streaming back then, so not going to theaters was basically saying "not good enough for theaters, don't pay money to watch." pretty sure they just rushed the scripts on every one of them as well. they also tried to spoof successful comedies which works far less than spoofing serious movies or action movies.

John Richards

The piano scene is a spoof of "The Fabulous Baker Boys" - another movie worthy of a reaction.

Ferdinand Tayo

I bought hotshots just so I can watch your full reaction. George Eww's reply after Semone's doorknob intro made me do an air spit take.

Amelie W

The biggest mystery, does everyone call Kowalski a guy because of some unspoken gender equality initiative where they're forced to, or because they just never noticed? The latter one is probably funnier but I've seen this movie like 25 times and I can't figure out which one it is.

pinkdino99

The one everyone forgets is Baseketball which is Abrams (Airplane!) and Trey Parker/ Matt Stowe (South Park, Team America). You get the zany silly puns and the absurd vulgarness all in one spoofing your typical sport movie tropes. It's really funny and no one reacts to it.
