I like the other two. It’s been a while but I believe the third is better than the 2nd. I think they’re all worth a watch though

Kangdarius

I’d stop at this one tbh. The 3rd one is legit awful. 2nd one is ok but doesn’t come close to the first. Gotta give it credit for starting a genre though.

Jeff K

I would tend to agree. I don't think I ever even watched the third one because the second one was already such diminishing returns. The sequels were very clearly a blatant cash grab on an unexpected breakout hit. First one is great; George and Simone are probably good to stop there.

FaceMustache

The first Taken, while flawed, is a fun, quick action flick. Do not bother with the rest of them.

Jobbe Smit

Don't waste your time with the others really. Unless this does amazing on the algorithm I think watching some genuinely good movies would be a way better use of your time.

Boyan Konov

taken 2 and 3 are cash grabs. They have some nice moments but the first one is clearly the best.

mojo shivers

This is the perfect example of the first movie being spot-on great for its genre—good action scenes, believable motivations and choices for each character, and quotable dialogue. But then to have its sequels be utter garbage. I still can watch this movie but have never wanted to rewatch the next two movies in the franchise.

Michael Langille

You should def. stop here, everything after is a cash grab and never recaptures the first

Paul Mcmenzie

I wouldn’t bother with the other 2, 2nd is ok. 3rd is awful, the jump cuts are horrendous for a start.

jmundt33a

Second is decent. The third is a Taken interpretation of the Fugitive withe the second husband recast to make him more imposing.

Mark D

You guys gotta watch Non-Stop with Liam Neeson next

jmundt33a

In these Besson action flicks, the guy directly protecting the big boss is always the toughest fight.

PIG

Oh no

For the next reaction, I nominate Rattle and Hum (1988). :-P

Fabulous string of George jokes from pez dispenser/ guillotine. I had a slightly higher opinion of 2 than most, but I’m a big Jean Grey/ Famke Janssen fan, so. Along those lines, you all have a more positive reaction to her character than most, like I do - it’s generally understandable she’s annoyed early, and he’s certainly being overprotective about Paris. That it’s validated is a weird offshoot of the “rest of the world/ trafficking” panic genre (sometimes amplified by torture horror themes) Americans had in the 2000s. For obvious reasons. Probably best represented by Hostel/ Turistas, but also in Bourne, Casino Royale, more that I’m forgetting.

Jason Pratt

Loved this reaction! I think a fun Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Rampage Jackson, Jessica Biel movie would be A-Team from 2010. It’s an over the top action flick based off a cheesy tv action show from the 80s.

Happy Hanukkah

George's (and Simone's) comments on Neeson's "immediate competence" in the famous phone scene (echoing similar comments in the past) lead me to once again nominate Margin Call (2011).

Jacob Lantom

I recommend the sound of freedom. YouTube may flag it but the subject matter is identical to this movie. It's quite a tear jerker

Alexrandom

Taken is pretty nice even though the writing is very cliché and the cinematography/editing is subpar. Shaky cam is a hell of a trend... Despite all that I like taken for what it is but I honestly wouldn't bother with taken 2&3. They're very very much worse than this one. I won't spoil anything story related but there is one particular shot that became a meme because of how over the top the editing was. It's just "Liam Neeson"climbing over a fence and there's like 12 cuts... It's bad. If bourne was tough for George this is going to be worse. If you guys want action films like this one you should check Korean cinema. Sadly I believe a good Korean film wouldn't get as many views as a mediocre American one. No matter what you guys choose I'll be there to watch with you ;) Have a nice day :)

Logan Kerlee

Enjoyed the YouTube version of this as well! Found my name at 32:09

michael clarke

a good liam neeson movie is 'dark man'. its a cult classic thats vaguely in the super hero genre. its a sam raimi movie. i think its actually responsible for making both their careers because it was a surprise hit at the time. its fallen into obscurity and its only remembered now by die hard raimi fans, but its a lot of fun.

michael clarke

i read the other comments, so ill pile on, in a world where you havent seen evil dead, the never ending story and they live, just stop here with this series.

Felix94K

If you want to watch some more Liam Neeson action movies, I would recommend Unknown (2012) and Non-Stop (2014). Much better movies than the Taken sequels. I personally don't think the sequels were completely terrible, but they are definitely a lot worse than the first one and there are much better movies to react to.

Felix94K

Also, that guillotine joke was great. Fun (or not so fun) fact about guillotines: Before capital punishment was abolished in France, the last death sentence that was carried out was actually done with a guillotine. It was also the last one in all of western Europe. And it happened the same year that the first Star Wars movie was released (1977). As someone from Europe it is kind of crazy to think that this wasn't even that long ago.

Felix94K

Oh and the crimes of the guy that was executed in 1977 were very similar to the bad guys in Taken (not sure I can write these words here, but they are pretty terrible, so I don't have much sympathy for him)

James O'Sullivan

Honestly think this should have been left at one film. The second one is meh, it's just a below average basic action film. It doesn't have the original's dark themes or its tense time limit. Personally never bothered with the third one after that.

David Nesbit

100% agree with George regarding U2.

Corabal

I disagree, It should have led to a fourth - Taken Tag Tournament

jim Howe

That thumbnail though 😅

Brandon Meng

If you want the romantic Liam Neeson experience, please check out Love Actually. If you want the survival Liam Neeson experience, please check out The Grey. If you want the sexual Liam Neeson experience, please check out Kinsey. I feel like none of these would disappoint.

Jeff K

Wait, they recast Xander Berkeley? And I'm just now reading... they put Dougray Scott in that role!? Oof. Nothing against Dougray Scott, but Xander Berkeley is one of the best "That Guy" actors working.

lance tophoj

Lol, I love these two, but highly doubt George would let them watch that since it goes so far against the mainstream narrative. Maybe I'll be surprised....

Bolivar

George's quote of the reaction, "Imagine she's awful at it?"😂

Lachlan Caldwell

The girl who plays the singer Liam bodyguards for is Holly Valance, an Australian singer/actress.

Peter Dillard

This is the movie that caused me a lot of worry with my daughter's solo travels that started at age 16 to Europe.

Pol Wow

You should react to Excalibur. Epic 80’s fantasy with a young Liam Neeson, young Gabriel Byrne, young Patrick Stewart & a young Helen Mirren!

Joshua DeRoode

its a shame I can only like this comment once. I loved Excalibur. another one from that era (maybe better for cinecringe) was Yor the hunter from the future.
