PIG

I always forget it’s Tuesday until I see this post.

SlaverStudios

Literally the best thing about Tuesday is this.

Spacedone

One blink and you'll miss it detail from these episodes. When McNulty is walking through the underpass full of homeless people, the guy who says "He's got teeth don't he?" in response to McNulty asking if the dog bites is Johnny Fifty, Ziggy's dockworker sidekick when they steal the cars in S2.

Stu84

It tells a whole story without seeing it. The docks shut down and he had no where to go.

Cheese's surname is Wagstaff. Randy's surname is Wagstaff. Good chance that Cheese is Randy's father and therefore Randy was related to Prop Joe.

Jay

David Simon has confirmed that Cheese is Randy's dad, but they never got around to addressing it on the show.

When y'all finish this you should watch "We Own This City". It's an HBO miniseries. 5 episodes I think. It's about a plain clothes unit in the Baltimore PD that gets out of control based on a true story and pretty damn close to the truth from what I could find. Same writers as The Wire and tons of actors from the Wire. The cops are so over the top you can't think it's a true story. It's really good.

Charlotte Drolet

What was that? Ain't no hack in Baltimore cost that much! Guy says 200 for a hack?!?

Jeff K

The season really is so much better than it gets credit for. As soon as you allow yourself to buy in that Jimmy would be pushed to these lengths, and just accept it as (what I believe to be) a natural character progression, it’s really such a good season.

JP

You folks might be the only people to finally get me to watch the wire! I’ve resisted the temptation for far too long haha

We have come to the time of Prop Joe. A favorite character of mine. The smartest man in the room. So my thoughts on Joe and The Wire was "what if some of these switched places". If Joe had spawned into perhaps a middle to upper middle class neighborhood, he would have perhaps went to a University, maybe elite Ivy. Joe then would have returned as a successful business person, perhaps a lawyer in city of Baltimore. As a charismatic and successful person the elite of Baltimore would eventually ask him to run for some state office possibly Congress. Now Joe being Joe would be that person who would work for his elite, rich friends, not for the people. Sort of a Clay Davis but not corrupt for himself but like most politicians, making the rich more rich. George mentioned about the prequels and Prop Joe was one of them as a young school kid, showing his intelligence and business acumen. Proving what people who not having the same opportunities, might be talent that never was.

Jay

If only Joe could have dealt with unhappy relatives at thanksgiving. But even if he'd given Cheese up at the end of S4, or killed him after Cheese told Chris about Butchie, Marlo still would have cut Joe out to become the Greek's main connect. And Marlo definitely liked Joe, as much as a sociopath like Marlo can like someone. As for S5 upping the comedy? Never got that myself, I think The Wire is intermittently hilarious from start to finish. George, I'm a straight man but I'd probably go to bed with a drunk Jimmy McNulty:)

Google maps shows Six Flags America is about a 40 minute drive one way. Round trip plus gas seems about $200 plus convenience of having a ride back waiting.

A friend of mine has the coolest piece of television memorabilia. A box of Honey Nut Cheerios signed by Michael K. Williams.

dieselbeast

After this series, I have no idea if y'all have ever watched "The Sopranos" or had any interest in it, but it is regarded by many as One of if not the greatest show in television history, would be amazing if y'all decided to react to that show, just planting the seed, worth a shot 🤷😁

Jakub Krelik

a minor question if I may, will you be still calling Kevin Spacey a predator?

Chris

Bond isn't pursuing Lester's loan case for Clay Davis because he wants the glory of convicting him himself. In Baltimore. If it goes federal like Lester wants then it's the FBI who get the credit for taking Clay Davis down.

Chris

Oscar Requer is the name ( it isn't the actor) of the real Bunk. The cop asleep in his car helping mcnulty and lester

RarelySober

one of the dock workers from season 3 at least in the homeless camp there, show has a lot of nice small continuity

Byron Abrahams

Marlo feels like he came out of nowhere because he wasn't given a history. We never saw Avon and Stringer come up either, but we got the sense of them having a deep, involved history in the city. Connections, family... That was the difference, I think.

Timothy Hedrick

"We have to kill again..." If it's not the best moment in the whole series, it is definitely in the top five.

Pierce

no Bond was not trying to protect anyone by bypassing the "headshot" bank charge.. he didnt want the case to go federal because he wanted all of the glory for himself

Angela D. Mitchell

Did y'all notice the docks guy in the homeless camp? I'm pretty sure that was Horse Face. I know you don't like Marlo as a villain, George, but to me he's a fantastic villain precisely because there is no "there" there. He's empty. He feels nothing. For Marlo, Chris, and especially Snoop, life has no meaning (except their own). Nobody matters, he'll take out anyone for any reason. As far as I'm concerned, Herc is already full-on "kinda bad." He brought tragedy to FOUR lives (Randy, Miss Anna, Sherrod, and Bubbles), and is now working for the slimiest drug lawyer in the city -- routinely saying "hello" to the very guys he was trying to bring down as a cop. Ugh. Simone, I absolutely think Lester Smooth and Shardene are still together based on her S2 appearance -- she looked so happy, and visibly more at peace, and said Lester was helping her get into nursing school, etc.
