I can't see how you two missed this one. Especially with Mike Meyers as the lead. In how many seconds will Simone fall in love with Donkey? That's the question. Edit - And a few seconds in I find out this is not George's first viewing.

dieselbeast

If you haven't yet there's a video on YT with Chris Farley voicing Shrek but the animation is still in paper form (best way I could describe it) definitely nowhere near the animation we see today but it would have been pretty cool seeing/hearing Chris Farley play Shrek all the way, God rest his soul 🙏 If you're ever curious Two movies that are definitely worth a reaction of his are Tommy Boy and Beverly Hills Ninja

JayF

Yes the whole entry into Farquaad's castle is making fun of Disney. You missed that the parking lot had a sign that said "You are now parked in Lancelot". The stupid ass banking lines were first used at Disney as far as I know. The guy with the giant costume head was making fun of the Disney characters that walk the grounds inside the park. The little song they pressed the button to hear was making fun of the It's a Small World ride in Disney.

HalfMayn

Shrek 2 is easily the best of the lot, hope you guys watch that

Dalvory

Can’t wait to see you react to the second one. I think it’s just as good as the first. I go back and fourth on which one I like more.

Caleb S

So stoked to watch!

Rob M

I think Shrek 2 is even better than the first. The other sequels aren’t as good but Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is amazing too

Guillermo Antonio Ricci Alvarez

The Shrek movies you have to watch them all(even if some are not considered as good as the others) included both Puss in Boots, the movies from Eddie Murphy that I like are Vampire in Brooklyn(don't remember much but I remember liking it), Doctor Dolittle, Holy Man(is hard to find I think),Bowfinger,Showtime,Daddy Day Care,Dolemite is My Name

Amos T Fairchild

Well now you did it. Next two Shrek films...

Dave van der Kuyp

Life (1999) is amazing. Def a must watch, even if you don't react to it.

The Maestro

to my knowledge Eddie Murphy's career goes to shit in the 2000s where his only good rolls are voice acting rolls

samuel Jakob

Love this one, the second one is certaintly worth watching, its even more fun that this one, the others I dont know, I think I saw the 3th once but I cant really remember it so it probably wasnt great. Anyway, great reaction, cant wait for the second, and remember there is an after credit,

DM DC

I'd say definately Shrek 1-4 though you could probably just go with the first two Shreks. The 2nd one is a lot of fun. I know 3 is supposed to be the weekest from what I hear but I thought it was really good. But Shrek 4 is really great., I have only seen the first Puss in Boots movie, but it is great. I'd say just go with those, then carry on with the new Puss in Boots movies. I'll need to see the other two Puss in Boots movies also.

Chase Lonnergan

Ahhh. A new pronunciation of my name. Always fun. Hehehe

Odd Thomas

Wreck it Ralph please!

Odd Thomas

The second one is best imo - the rest I can take or leave

Alex Ch

The best Eddie Murphy movie you haven’t seen is 48 Hrs, which is really the start of the buddy cop movies of the 80s. Bowfinger is not perfect but fun. The Nutty Professor is kind of the balancing point between good and bad. If you want Cinecringe, Norbit is probably the low point.

Alex Ch

Shrek 2 is generally considered about as good as the first. The later Shreks are lesser, but you can skip them and go to the Puss In Boots movies.

Blips

Can I just put my hands together and nod my head in approval, and start quietly saying “They did it! They achieved enlightenment thru Shrek”

Odd Thomas

Murphy did a movie called The Adventures of Pluto Nash around 2001 that was one of the biggest box office bombs in history. Then he just made awful Disney comedies for kids.

W T

He came back for Dolemite is My Name, that was a great flick at the very least

W T

3rd one has some pretty great moments too, even the fourth one is game. I had people who aren't at all into animation lose their shit over the less well-received sequels, it's still a good time regardless.

Robert C

Really hoping you get around to So I Married An Axe Murderer. No rush but please put it on your list.

Paul G

All of the Shrek movies and both of the Puss in Boots movies are solid. Some are obviously better than others but there isn’t really a steep drop in quality on any of them.

MatthewBrown74m

Shrek 2 is really good recommend it and puss in boots 1 is good and2ed really good

FranciscoGios

This is my first time watching Shrek; and I bet the animation team were having difficulty, specially with Shrek and his mud shower.

Young Blood Priest

Norbit was horrible but I’d argue that Pluto Nash was worse. I hate pointing out bad moments in people’s careers but on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast Eddie joked about being voted worst actor ever for one of his movies. Good he has a sense of humor about it.

James O'Sullivan

Last line of the curse: "Take true love's true form". Shrek 1 and 2 are great, 3 isn't, 4 is okay. Puss in Boots is supposed to be good though

Martin

To answer George’s question about other Eddie Murphy movies that didn’t suck: 48 hours. Probably his best movie.

Vwlss Nvwls

Dragons are rather unique because people love them no matter how they are represented. Good or bad, everyone loves a dragon.

Noe Ramirez

Eddie Murphy movie that doesn't suck, Dolemite Is My Name. Awesome fun movie.

Young Blood Priest

48 hours, Boomerang, Harlem Nights, Life and Dolemite is my Name. Some of his good ones. Do yourselves a favor and steer clear of A Vampire in Brooklyn. You’ll thank me cause it’s trash.

Guy Gordon

Add Bowfinger to the great Eddie Murphy list.

Mike Adams

When (not if) you watch 2, stick around for the post credits.

joejud1017

Where he plays every family member was actually part of the Nutty Professor which was really popular during its time. A lot of movies you've named weren't bad, some pretty good. Its just that he hasn't been in the spot light in a while. Dolemite is my Name is a recent movie.

Hakuna

Shrek 2 is widely regarded as one of the best sequel movies, definitely continue!

Turnt SNACO

You 100% should watch Shrek 2. It's considered a perfect sequel and set a high bar for 3D animated films.

DinChild

Shrek 1 Shrek 2 Puss in Boots: The Last Wish That's all you need.

Joel the Human

Boomerang and vampire in Brooklyn are not good in my opinion, Nutty Professor and Life are a good comedic time.

Dr Ozzy

Can’t see Shrek and not think about the TikTok “Fiona turns into a ogre to marry Shrek because the message of the movie is that you can only marry people of the same color” haha

Logan Kerlee

This reaction was fantastic! Had so much fun watching along with you both. :) I first watched this as teen when this came out and I had such a blast! As an adult this movie has only improved. As for bad Eddie Murphy movies - I'm not gonna jump into that mess. xD ALWAYS include your singing George! You're so great, dude.

Elvenwitch

One Eddie Murphy movie that I happen to like but everyone else hates is The Adventures of Pluto Nash.

David N

Im not sure that ALL of the shrek movies are good. They start to lose a lot of plot cohesion after 2. Those puss and boot spin offs arent very good either but I never saw the newest one. I never enjoyed any shrek thing anywhere near as much as the first one; everything after just felt like cash grabs.

overdev

agreed with the shrek movies but the second puss and boots movie is one of the best movies that has been released last year and got ton of praise

REDR58

First time watching for me, had fun, but good gravy that Smash Mouth cover of “I'm a Believer” was horrendous. Should have stuck with The Monkees. Dolenz is a much better singer, no matter what anyone thinks of The Monkees. Maybe it was a licensing thing.

Nathan Hill

Shrek 2 is just as good, if not better

Daniel Simmons

For Eddie Murphy movies, I would definitely recommend the Nutty Professor.

Cubonemaker

I for one wouldn't mind if you guys skipped to the second Puss in Boots movie. It's so freaking good!

Pearl Jam

This was a great reaction! The bears… omg… I’m so oblivious; I never noticed that Farquaad made a rug out of the mama 😱. I have the new Puss in Boots movie, but haven’t watched it yet. I’ll hold out for your reaction. I enjoyed all the Shrek movies (and Puss in Boots), so if you watch them, I’ll watch them again with you.

Pearl Jam

R.I.P. Steve Harwell: Lead singer of Smash Mouth.

Trevor S Bright

You guys should watch a clip of Chris Farley's Shrek online. It's the camp fire scene with Donkey (Eddie Murphy was the only cast member who stayed on after Chris died). It really kinda dives into why the role was written with Chris in mind cuz he was kinda tired of playing the fat clown all the time. When Donkey says in both versions "When we met, I didn't think you were a big ugly ogre" and Shrek says "I know", you can really tell the subtle but powerful emotion in Chris's Shrek cuz he had such bad self-esteem otherwise he wouldn't have been so into drugs. Chris's brother actually offered to finish recording cuz he sounded close to his voice, but they decided to scrap it altogether. Mike Myers started recording the original script and decided it had to be re-written cuz the dialogue felt wrong for Mike to read words written for Chris.
