Yesssss. I’m having a really hard time tonight and I’ve been up all night. I need this right now.

Amos T Fairchild

I just searched rogue nation for that reason.

Ginger

Sorry to hear that! All the best, hope you'll feel better soon. :)

Ah, yes. Finally the ultimate form of the team’s line-up with the addition of the deadly Ilsa Faust. I think she brings a lot to the team and I think Rebecca Ferguson brings a lot to her portrayal of her. I love the whole way through this film you never quite know what side she’s on until the very end. It takes a lot to pull that off successfully without getting silly. But she executes the torment Ilsa is under well.

djKENTO

Such big Rebecca Ferguson fans but y’all haven’t reacted to Doctor Sleep yet? FOR SHAME! SHAAAAAME!

I too enjoy the cold and have high blood pressure. The only problem is I hate hot drinks, so even in the cold I drink everything with ice. :D And never question the logic of a freezing woman. :P

Okay I get to geek out about why I love this movie’s score so much. Mission Impossible’s theme is 5/4. It’s pretty rare for most western scores. Lalo Schifrin, the original theme composer did this because the theme is Morse Code for M:I. Then this movie integrates the Italian opera about China, Turandot which has a main theme in 5:4… less rare in opera and classical music, but the way they’re weaved together because of their time signature is AWESOME! Literally the best score in the entire franchise. Would also love to see George’s take on Turandot because it’s banned in China by the government.

Tay Schumaker

The underwater scene here doesn’t come off as impressive since it’s not in one take, but Cruise held his breath for 6.5 minutes to film that scene. It was a record until Kate Winslet beat it for the avatar sequel

Love this movie. Possibly my favourite but Fallout is definitely on par with it. Cant wait. Great reaction.

Mati D.

Fallout next, one of the best one and with Henry reloading his arms.

Sean Harris did play such a great villain. His look and voice all just worked so well. Even though this one is better than Ghost Protocol, I still like Ghost Protocol more, because it just works for me more. But I love this whole franchise, even the second one. I cannot wait to watch the next one with you two.

Tom Cruise did his own driving down the stairs in the chase scene, with Simon Pegg in the car with him, so most of Simon's reaction is real. I also like to think that they told Simon if he did not looked scared enough with the bomb on, then they would reshoot the stair scene. :D

Shane Driscoll

The part where they gas Lane in the glass box never fails to remind me of the Thin Man interrogation cutscene from XCOM.

Ph4ZeD

Noooo George you forgot the movie timer :( sadge

I'm not sure that the Puccini opera 'Turandot' was used specifically because of the involvement of a Chinese company, although it's possible I suppose as this was filmed after China's government decided they officially liked it. I think they wanted to use the extremely popular Nessun Dorma aria from that movie in the soundtrack, including as a leitmotif to highlight the building relationship between Hunt and Ilsa. That whole opera scene is in part a callback to Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Man Who Knew Too Much”.

Josh B

Nessun Dorma is probably top 4 most famous parts of a Opera to most people, other than Ride of the Valkyries, Lohengrin Wedding March and the Magic Flute, I suppose. So I think it's as simple as that. Love that how that theme is used in the score.

Odd Thomas

Chris McQuarrie and Tom Cruise had already worked together on Jack Reacher which, if you ignore the fact Cruise looks nothing like Reacher from the books, is a great movie taken on its own terms.

Calum Grace

absolutely loved this reaction, and really wanna see you guys react to Fallout ASAP 'cos it rules to an unholy degree and continues/wraps-up some plot threads from several of these previous movies

Tyler Foster

I was literally five minutes from the end of the discussion part when you deleted the video to re-upload...glad I'd already finished the movie! (Not complaining or anything, just funny.)

King_Panarisi

Is the video 360p for anyone else or is there something wrong on my end?

Com1xguy

The way they play the mask gag from movie to movie is such a great bit.

Eric Santiago

Since you noticed the opera playing in the background when the characters had a moment of "peace," take a look at the lyrics of this aria. It's called Nessun Dorma and it speaks of a character who awaits the morning to arrive in order to win the heart of his beloved: "Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma! / Tu pure, o, Principessa, / nella tua fredda stanza, / guardi le stelle / che tremano d'amore / e di speranza. / Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me, / il nome mio nessun saprà! / No, no, sulla tua bocca lo dirò / quando la luce splenderà! / Ed il mio bacio scioglierà il silenzio / che ti fa mia! / (Il nome suo nessun saprà!... / e noi dovrem, ahime, morir!) / Dilegua, o notte! / Tramontate, stelle! / Tramontate, stelle! / All'alba vincerò! / vincerò, vincerò!" "Nobody shall sleep! Nobody shall sleep! / Even you, oh Princess, / in your cold room, / watch the stars, / that tremble with love / and with hope. / But my secret is hidden within me, / my name no one shall know! / No, No, On your mouth, I will tell it / when the light shines. / And my kiss will dissolve the silence / that makes you mine! / (No one will know his name / and we must, alas, die.) / Vanish, o night! / Set, stars! / Set, stars! / At dawn, I will win! / I will win! I will win!"

Hi George, if you haven’t watched the next movie in the series (Fallout) yet I would recommend NOT checking the cast list on IMDb first.

Logan Kerlee

Super enjoyed watching along! :) Good stuff, you two. :)

Chase Schleich

The plane stunt was the big marketing stunt for this film, but Cruise also did the under water stunt as well. He made 120 foot jump then held his breath for 6 and a half minutes and it was shot in one long take.

Chase Schleich

Can't wait for the next one. There's a long brutal fight scene in a bathroom that is great. I think Corridor did a stunt men react video about it. Worth watching that after you watch the movie.

Daniel Popp

Can't wait for your reaction to Fallout. The best in the franchise in my opinion. Also, if you want to watch a truly brutal but awesome knife fight, watch "Eastern Promises". A very hard film to watch, but absolutely brilliant.

Jacob King

If you like the Ferg you definitely have to watch Doctor Sleep. Ilsa Faust is the most on the nose character name ever. Ilsa from Casablanca had to chose between two men, Faust sold his soul to the devil. One of the things I love about the MI series is it’s not afraid of being completely unsubtle at some points while also having real complexity. The plane stunt is technically out done in the next one (the chase scene at the end) but it’s slightly less obvious how difficult what he is doing actually is. It’s completely out done in the new one. Sean Harris plays King Arthur in The Green Knight. A brilliant movie and a great piece of casting.

MasterElodin

@Simone just take showers that are colder than the air outside then you will look forward to getting out :)

ThePVO

Since you guys like The Ferg so much you should do Doctor Sleep. Just make sure you do the director's cut.

FranciscoGios

When Hunt memorized all those bank accounts someone said he has an ability called ‘photography memory’, that’s something I wish I would personally own. Also George the best car flip is I have to go with Casino Royal, no discussion.

Khan1001

I'm having fun watching these greats films again with you guys, please can you get to MI: Fallout & then Dead Reckoning P1 (which I have not watched yet) sooner rather than later please!

SnabbKassa

BBC News has a piece about Tom Cruise at R.A.F. Wittering where he did the plane stunt
