Jon

ahah...first (we don't care)

Wulfric

Home Alone 2 this Christmas?

Young Blood Priest

I’ve personally never heard hate towards Ferrell himself but I think some people find his movies over the top silly.

Rash Bandicoot

Stranger than Fiction is a great Will Ferrel movie that isn't his usual thing.

DeAndrew Greene

Stranger Than Fiction is the serious Will Ferrell movie and it's great

Tyler Foster

Stranger Than Fiction is so lovely and I would be thrilled if you two react to it.

Odd Thomas

Yet everyone voted for The Lego Movie with Will Ferrell

JayF

I assume they are watching an unrated or extended version. Any idea where it can be found to stream in the US? Edit - I found the "Unrated Other Edition" for sale as a DVD but the length is over 3 hours so I don't even know if that's the correct version but the extras on the DVD make it longer.

Odd Thomas

Good Mark Wahlberg movies: Deepwater Horizon, Ted, Three Kings, The Lovely Bones

JayF

Yeah Ted and Ted 2 are hilariously funny btw. He's also in The Departed (as is everyone else) which is great.

Jay Davis

I'm also gonna jump on the Stranger than Fiction bandwagon here. I saw it in theaters and it hooked me so much I went back and _watched_ it again that same day. Haven't done that since Jedi.

Jon

yeah, watch Ted, it's awesome

Martin Roca

YES watch Ted, great comedy.

Michael

Stranger than fiction is ok, but Everything Must Go is a much better serious will ferrell movie. The Other Guys in my favorite will ferrell movie, I'm glad you reacted to this!

Patrick

I like this movie but it's pretty hard to watch Mark Wahlberg try to act sometimes lol

Patrick

The Prius really only gets a bad rap because they were super popular when they came out and were the first real mainstream hybrid car. They're also just pretty ugly and the people who bought them when they first came out were kind of pretentious about being more "environmentally aware" than everyone else.

Joe

I just can't watch anything with Wahlberg in it. He's such an unlikable person that I just can't get past it, no matter the film.

W T

I don't think Will Ferrell gets more hate beyond baseline variance. Not everyone is into boisterous and noisy comedies, but I mean... Will F. is pretty well-liked, all things considered

Ian Forbes

I like Will Ferrell (not all his films but most) and my only guess for people with a strong dislike/hate is a mix of maybe people who don’t like his brand of humor and/or those who enjoy hating popular things (because they’re popular). I don’t think there was some sort of scandal or public action that would get people riled up … but to each their own.

NobleProfession

Why do you post your extended editions on YouTube? Last time I subscribed to a reaction channel's Patreon he posted his videos on a google thing so it was like the Youtube version just without the cuts and blurring. Not that it's bad, it's just I like listening to the movie or show on reaction

Cinebinge

Hi there, the reason we do not show the entire movie is not because YT does not allow it. Its actually because it is fully illegal to just show the whole thing regardless of the platform, as doing so would be a deliberate act of illegal distribution. The platform the video hosted on is irrelevant.

djKENTO

Pretty bummed this version of the movie has never been available on streaming or digital. Guess I’ll have to wait until I can get a physical copy.

djKENTO

from the same director as Deep Water Horizon is Patriot’s Day which is even better. Not as action packed or exciting, but better.

Conner

The prius thing. Toxic american men, so the ones in the movie, think hybrid cars are for pussies because gas guzzlers like muscle cars are manly and awesome. This was more prevalent around the time the movie came out when hybrid cars were a more recent thing.

Martin Nicholls

Polarising views in the polls? Pun intended? Dunno, can't answer that - I don't hate any actor, some annoy me outside movies but I can set that aside; like Seth Rogen fills me with rage outside movies, but I love his body of work. Will Ferrell made some of my favourite modern comedies, Get Hard, [this movie] - though I struggle with full length reactions to it purely because I've seen it so many times, Old School and some others. He does tend to be a bit shouty and has "a tone" and maybe that's the thing. Only other funny actor we know who has done drama is.. - then clearly you've never seen The Big Short :) Mark Wahlberg, good movies.. Pain and Gain, Ted (obviously), The Departed. Bunch more.

PureGonzo

Not only can I not possibly comprehend why anyone would dislike Will Ferrel – let alone HATE him – but I’ve never seen any comments (on the internet or elsewhere) from people saying as much. Now I’m curious lol.

Prof. Writhms

Will Ferrell is dramatic in "Everything Must Go" (2010) and it's a pretty good one.

Harold Wright

haha I feel like I have to respond to George, I am kind of a Will Ferrell hater. I don't like him simply because his style of comedy is always the same, and while he _is_ funny for a short time, after 5-10 minutes his schtick starts becoming obnoxious, and I start to find whoever he is playing annoying. His humor gets old pretty fast. That's why he was great on SNL, throw him in a skit, let him be funny, and then give the audience time to recover before seeing him again. Great as a side character or in skits, but over a feature length film with him as the lead, I normally can't stand to watch him after the first 30 minutes. Some of the movies can balance him out decently with another actor sharing the spotlight and make him more bearable, but some lean on him too much. I realize that this is all a subjective view though, and I don't normally comment about it, cause I don't want to start an argument about peoples taste in movies, because a lot of people love him, and like I said, I do find him funny in small doses. I hope this made some kind of sense :)

Ethan Holgate

I can't speak on behalf of other people's opinions on why they don't like Will Ferrell I think it could have something to do with the fact that he hasn't done a great comedy movie in roughly 10 years you know how some people can be easily turned off over the recent crap thing this person has done I don't get that it might not be that the last great comedy he was in was Get Hard Imo very funny movie he did with Kevin Hart every other movie he's done since hasn't been great Imo

GBmain

No one hates J.K Simmons George :D

Martin Roca

Did you guy miss the post credit scene? I'm watching the same version and i have one at 1:53:30

ChickensAreRacist

Will Farrell had a great reception in a serious movie called Stranger than Fiction. And as for Mark Wahlberg, a really good movie of his is called The Fighter. Includes a great role by Christian Bale as well, and Amy Adam’s.

Scott G

IMO an underrated Will Ferrel comedy is The Campaign. I think by that point the world was starting to experience Will Ferrel Fatigue, but that movie makes me belly laugh.

Tay Schumaker

You watched a weird version and you missed the post-credits scene.

Odd Thomas

Again, one of the best Sam Jackson movies is Die Hard 3! And with xmas approaching it's perfect timing to restart the franchise as 2 is set at xmas

Patrick

I kinda thought Derek Jeter's celebrity status extended well beyond baseball fans. His list of ex-girlfriends alone is wild.

Jonah

The funnier someone is, the more polarizing it will be to people. Because people's sense of humor differ so dramatically. So the better someone is at comedy and the more fans they get, the more the haters will hate, and also to be SOOOO good at comedy, (for the most part usually means) you have to have a specific type of comedy, which as you said, not everyone likes the same thing. so to be at the very top of some people's list means he's going to have the equal and opposite effect on others, people who hate him REALY hate him to try to compete with the overwhelming amount of love he's given. if people didn't like him so much the haters wouldn't feel so compelled to compete with their hate and would just do the rational thing and ignore him and forget he exists. but hate is akin to love. And if you hate someone enough to talk about them a lot and tell people just how much you hate them, it's because you still hold a place for them in your heart, no matter how you externally process it.

Jonah

Or to simplify and make it a little more ignorant, "people with bad taste are always the loudest about their opinions"

Jonah

PLEASE WATCH TED OMG YOU NEED TO WATCH TED!!!!!

NobleProfession

You guys should watch some classic samurai films like Harakiri and Seven Samurai. On Letterboxd Harakiri is literally the highest rated movie and it doesn't have a single reaction on YouTube. Also Six Feet Under is my favorite show.

Brendan Rafferty

TED Neither of you have seen TED? You absolutely need to watch this film and go into it blind, knowing nothing. Absolutely hysterical and, based on multiple comments you’ve made, this is right up your alley.

Brendan Rafferty

Unrated or extended cuts, that are not director’s cuts, are usually just studio cash grabs to boost home video sales. They are usually much worse than theatrical cuts. Director’s have good reasons to cut or tighten scenes.

Tyler Foster

I agree that extended cuts are a mixed bag. Talladega, for example, the theatrical cut is absolutely superior. That said, I am also 99% confident that the extended cuts of Talladega, Step Brothers, and Other Guys were assembled by McKay himself. On the first printing of the alternate cut of Bourne on DVD, there was even a disclaimer printed right on the packaging stating that the longer cut was assembled WITHOUT the participation of the director. Not sure if that means legally the studios are required to disclose if an alternate cut is done by someone else, but like I said, I do think this was under McKay's supervision.

Joshua M Freeman

I would say Will Farrell's most "dramatic" role was in "Stranger than Fiction" which is a highly under rated film.

Travis

I think the reason Will Ferrel is so polarizing is that humor is very subjective. He embodies the kind of dumb, exaggerated humor so if that’s not your thing I think people tend to really dislike him solely because he is so popular as a comedic actor. If he wasn’t beloved by so many he wouldn’t be hated as strongly by those who don’t have the same comedic taste.

Dr Ozzy

This is my experience as well with people who tell me they don’t like Will Ferrell or that he’s not funny is that his humor is “dumb”. Not everything has to be layered and deep humor. It’s okay to just laugh at something because it is silly or ridiculous.

Jonah

You guys don't have pennies because we ended up getting them all. LMAO I find at least one canadian penny every time I count out a hand of change! LOL

Max Krause

Oh yes, that is a good one! Not quite as "dramatic" as some of Jim Carrey's roles but definitely a very different Will Ferrel and just a good movie in itself.

REDR58

I can tolerate a bit more Ferrel because The Lego Movie is just that good!

W T

With the ending of the movie, now'd be a great time to go for the Big Short, Carell and cast are just crushing that movie and the subject matter is super interesting in its own right - or rather, should be some sort of required reading in school... which it sort of is.

W T

Funnily enough, the only reference I really remember was in Weeds, a show I thought was pretty neat, at least the parts that I watched (I stopped after a couple of seasons). U-turn, a pretty big drug dealer in the show, has contact with Mary-Louise Parker as a weed "slinging" widow and they were reacting weirdly to her driving a prius at first. Nancy: “You bought a Prius?” U-turn: “I bought 7 of them, got my whole crew driving them. Good for sneaking up on motherfuckers” It's just a generic, ad-hoc joke format, like most of the things George asks the comments to contribute to: you just make a wild assumption and set it up as intricately as you like, and then you go and pretend like it is the most normal thing, subvert rules, subvert tropes... there are arbitrary many layers to most comedy and this movie is big on toying with your expectations. And I guess the Prius absolutely getting demolished, orgied, and riddled with bullet holes to then still perform just fine is a subversion in itself, they really kept that thing going through all that. Either way, could have done the same joke with any family car people somewhat know.

Jesse Coombs

Seven Samurai is a masterpiece. You can see how it inspired later epics like Star Wars or even Lord of the Rings, not to mention the entire westerns genre. All that being said, it's still a solid adventure tale in it's own right.

Jesse Coombs

Adam McKay (the director of The Other Guys) actually went on to make "The Big Short", which is all about the 2008 financial crisis. It's not a comedy, (although parts are really funny), but it's still really good and has a ton of good actors in it. I hope you guys react to it someday.

akaTheBARON

🖤Aside from Old School (which is hilarious, and I think you two would probably like it, but I'm not sure if you'd LOVE it), I think you've seen every Will Ferrell comedy worth seeing (I mean movies where he was one of the main actors, just just simply being in the movie). He has other movies worth seeing like Stranger Than Fiction, but I mean his hardcore comedies. By default, we think of Will Ferrell as a funny man, and STF was when he started diving into more serious roles. Some of which are great, some are fine, some are meh... It's a mixed bag. And for a movie where WF played a serious role, I remember a movie called "Everything Must Go" which I remember being... OK I guess. But if memory serves it wasn't a drama/comedy hybrid, it was definitely a serious movie. And Christin Wiig and WF made a serious movie together. I never saw it, but remember the trailer was so weird because I kept thinking it was a parody movie and was waiting for it to start being funny but the jokes never came LOL. The movie is called "A Deadly Adoption" if you want to check out the trailer. For sure not worthy of a reaction though but gives you a glimpse of WF being truly serious in a movie.

akaTheBARON

🖤Is Will Ferrell the most-watched actor/actress on this channel? I'm wondering if anyone who reads this comment can think of someone who's been in more movies reacted by these two on this channel but I can't think of any. Tom Cruise possibly because of the MI movies on top of anything else he's been in that they've watched maybe? Both would be in the top 3 at least I'd imagine.

Chris Bowles

Will Ferrell did a mostly dramatic movie called Everything Must Go. It's a good watch.

Foodassassin4life

I'm not trying to berate you guys but can we stop with the extended editions. They do add some stuff sometimes but most of the time it's just filler that it's very hard to find. For example Friday the theatrical version is perfect but the extended version that you guys watched had a bunch of stuff in it that it did not need in my opinion and I'm not sure if I was the only one that thought that so can we please just stick to theatrical versions that'll be easier to find for everybody either on streaming or possibly people already own a copy of the movie that isn't it the extended versions of movies you are watching

Stephanie Bedworth

I'm pretty sure the Stallone poster you were commenting on, George, was Cobra.

Nate Terry

Will Ferrell plays one kind of character and it depends heavily on what the movie is. Sometimes it works...other times, it is a bit much...

Nate Terry

I would like it if they would at least put in the title somewhere what streaming service they are using for each show/movie. I've also noticed that depending on what country you are in, the streaming service doesn't provide it or maybe not all the variations of content....I know there are ways around it...but still

Johen Kay

Why would you watch a movie with Mark Wahlberg, a known racist who literally tried to kill someone for being Vietnamese? "Two years later, he was arrested again after attacking two Vietnamese men while under the influence of hallucinogen PCP. The actor called one man a 'Vietnam f***ing s***' and knocked him unconscious with a five-foot stick. Later that day, he punched a Vietnamese-American in the face. The victim, Johnny Trinh, later said of the attack: 'He knocked me down and I got up and ran. I was scared that he was going to hit me again. I just wanted to get away. 'I had never seen him before and did not know why he wanted to hit me. The guy was crazy, he must have been out of his mind on drugs.' Though he denied the attacks were race related, officers reported the future actor would use racially charged language to describe the men he attacked. For beating Thanh Lam unconscious, Wahlberg was found guilty of violating his civil rights and slapped with a civil rights injunction. For the attack on Johnny Trinh, he was charged with attempted murder. Wahlberg was jailed after pleading guilty to felony assault. The actor was freed 45 days into his two-year sentence."

Chase Schleich

I hate when reactors do Unrated versions. The theatrical is almost always on a streaming service so it's easy to get, but unrated versions are a pain in the ass to track down and usually require a torrent site unless you get lucky. It's just not worth it to do the unrated cut of films because there's hardly ever much of a difference. There are a few rare circumstances where there is a big difference, but 90% of the time it's just a marketing ploy to get people to buy another copy of a film or to entice people to buy the more expensive version.

Deserana12

Whilst the points you raised are valid, a movie that is the culmination of work from hundreds of people, shouldn't be completely disregarded and hidden forever because of the actions of one man. And they are a light hearted reaction channel that also may not know the backgrounds of every actor they watch.

NICKWEAKASS

Really hope you watch Ted also

Aaron Gunstone

Really needs to be on a case by case basis. Plenty of great films where the director's or extended version are superior, e.g. Aliens, LotR.

Paul Schmitt

One of my favorite Will Ferrell movies. There was a post credit scene.

Hamesque

Have you guys ever though of reacting to other types of media, like music? Or other YouTube content? Maybe you guys react to a Popcorn in Bed reaction, then she and her sister react to your reaction, and then you react to their reaction of your reaction, and so on and so on.

simon brouillard

I haven’t gone trough all the messages but I would say that more than just being subjective, comedies are really set in time wich is why they tend to age the worst. The type of humour, the references really dates a movie and a bunch of jokes just don’t hit. You can still enjoy or appreciate them but you’ll notice that people of a certain age will be more passionate about the Jim Carey film, a little younger will be Ferrel, older will be movies like cady shack and so forth. Just a theory 🙂 also, There will be blood😏

Chase Schleich

That Stallone poster is for Cobra. You should really do more Stallone films. You haven't done one in a long time. Schwarzenegger too.

Jared Winn

The narrator was rapper Ice-T. Famously has a song called “Cop Killer” but also famously played a detective on Law and Order SVU for many years.

Tyler Foster

The movie in question is not really a serious movie. It was made for Lifetime and while it was played straight, it is supposed to be funny that Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell are in a Lifetime movie.

djKENTO

I would REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY Fucking love a reaction to Cop Land.. the director of Logan does a cop film with an overweight and deaf Stallone as a cop? YES GIVE ME THAT SHIT IN MY VEINS! I also actually really like Terminator Dark Fate and wouldn’t mind a reaction to that…

Brandon Meng

It's not his only serious movie but "Stranger Than Fiction" is actually, famously, regarded as Will Ferrell's "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" .. and it's a wonderful, heartfelt, fantastic movie!

N.A. Vreugdenhil

They should definitely watch Stranger Than Fiction - so good!

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Aw Simone, little disappointed, seems like you missed David Wallace and Gabe from the Office (George correctly identified him as Jared from Silicon Valley), and then misidentifed Jean Ralphio from Parks and Rec as being from the Office. But then again I've watched both those shows so many times it's more an indictment of my nerdiness than of your memory. But I have been noticing that some people really hate Will Ferrell, I personally love the guy, makes me laugh in everything he's in, but we've established that I'm an idiot so it's entirely possible that he's not funny, can play the hell out of a cow bell though, that's not even open for debate.

djKENTO

Simone, the movie WAS about Ponzi schemes. That’s what was happening with their 401K. It was literally threat of the movie hahaha. Also this movie is the start of Adam McKay getting into political comedy based on real events. He does Anchorman 2 and people really don’t like it (the charm is gone and it’s just so all over the place with horrible pacing). Then McKay does The Big Short which is the true story about the housing market crash. It’s like the coolest history lesson ever with an INSANE cast. You really do learn with that one which is dope. Also Christian Bale turns in one of the best performances representing an autistic character in almost any studio film I’ve ever seen. Then McKay goes for the Dick Cheney story with the movie VICE which is also fantastic and he teams back up with Christian Bale as Cheney. He truly disappears into the character. It’s also got a stacked cast and everyone is firing on all cylinders. Just masterful work and sickeningly funny.

Alex Ch

I think Will Ferrell and the Frat Pack is basically a subgenre of comedy and not just people. And so maybe people are tired of his comedy and not necessarily hating the person.

Scott G

I think people started to suffer from Will Ferrell Fatigue, because for a while it seemed he was in a new comedy every year with diminishing returns. But I don't understand why people actually "hate" him. Oh, and if you want more Mark Wahlberg in something good I highly recommend The Departed.

Gary Fixler

Minka Kelly, Hannah Davis, Mariah Carey, Jordana Brewster, Jessica Biel, Vanessa Minnillo, Adriana Lima, Jessica Alba, Lara Dutta, Scarlett Johansson, Vida Guerra, Joy Enriquez, Rachel Uchitel, Tyra Banks... Who's this guy think he is, Pete Davidson?

BoredLittleLady

I will admit, I enjoy the other Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg movies, Daddy's Home and its sequel.

Jeremy

Will Ferrell is in one of my favorite movies in a more serious role. I can't recommend Stranger than Fiction enough.

Anthony Jackson

Have you guys not seen Stranger Things? Theres someone in this movie you guys didn't recognize from that show but you did another movie. (Wont spoil who) I think that would bring a lot of new people to your page, and will have you guys very entertained
