This will be fun to watch. I hope you guys do die hard 3! Definitely my favorite of the franchise

Ph4ZeD

Hooray more silly films!

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Is the next Christmas movie a horror? I saw Krampus last year and loved it.

JediLounger

3 and 4 will be great for the summer. 4 is a 4th of July movie. Never, ever under any circumstance watch 5.

Marko T.

I hope you watch Die Hard 3 soon. Its one of my favorite action movies. John McTiernan who directed the first movie is back.

Odd Thomas

Yay! 3 isn't a xmas movie but it is the best one, so don't sleep on it

Vwlss Nvwls

I did not enjoy this one as much as any of the others in the franchise. My ranking order of the Die Hard movies are... 1,3,4,2,5. I just feel that this one has way too many obvious problems and plot holes. I still have fun watching it, but it always makes it less enjoyable overall because of the problems. The only reason I put it above 5 is because the story for 5 is so very bad.

Vwlss Nvwls

Did I hear Simone right? She is always going to shut off her t.v. while naked?!

djKENTO

Yippee Kay Yay Mister Falcon!

djKENTO

Save Die Hard 3 for an insanely hot day. It breaks the holiday streak and takes place on the hottest day of the summer.

FrancescoTakesItEasy

Are we getting Friday movies now, too? I'm not complaining, just surprised. Hope you will also cover the third and FINAL Die Hard movie. The chemistry between Bruce Willis and Sam Jackson is just off the charts. But DH with a Vengeance is not christmassy, it definitely has more of a summer vibe.

Opti_Frog

Hmm. Do i really want to watch Die Hard 2 full length? I'll watch the first Die Hard any day of the week, but Die Hard 2 really is eeehhh.....?

Elder Lyons

i think this is one of the 'Christmas extra films', like with nightmare before christmas.

Vwlss Nvwls

Bruce Willis became famous in a sitcom he starred in with Cybil Shephard called "Moonlighting". It was a hit sitcom from 1985-1989. His first starring movie role was in 1987 and was a romantic comedy with Kim Basinger called "Blind Date." So to answer George's question... yes, Bruce Willis has done comedy and was good at it. :)

djKENTO

Simone, that actress who plays the reporter, Sheila McCarthy was in an episode of Star Trek: Discovery a few years ago. Considering how much she works I’m shocked she wasn’t in more Trek.

Big.Bad.Mr.Mustard

"Death Becomes Her"....an excellent comedy with Bruce Willis.

8bitAndy

Fingers crossed for Love Actually

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

It's pretty funny George making that Commando joke, "You let off some steam Bennett," because Steven de Souza wrote both Commando and Die Hard 2 and both movies involved the fictional Latin American country of Val Verde, technically Die Hard and Commando are in the same universe. Die Hard With A Vengeance is great, you're gonna like it, it's my favorite of the franchise. Speaking of Renny Harlin though, he directed The Long Kiss Goodnight with Geena Davis (his wife at the time) and Samuel L Jackson, Shane Black wrote it, it's fairly awesome, I recommend.

ChickensAreRacist

I think she was more suggesting she’s gonna do kata while holding the remote then spin fast to power it off. I think.

ExtraBigAssTaco

Yay! I was just thinking to myself the other day, "I hope they do Die Hard 2 and 3 sometime..."

sarCC

YAY! My second-favorite Die Hard movie!

Odd Thomas

Renny Harlin made some of the best 90s action movies: The Long Kiss Goodnight, Cutthroat Island, Cliffhangar. It's easy to scoff at the silliness of old movies but people accepted them as entertainment and weren't saying 'that could never happen' every five minutes. We KNEW it was just a cheesy action movie and that was fine. The ejector seat thing was actually a really innovative effect for the time; normally it would be a stuntman with his face hidden but actually having the main actor in a big stunt shot, even if it was composited in, was still pretty new - outside of Jackie Chan films. That stunt was actually copied in lots of other movies afterwards (Goldeneye for example).

Amos T Fairchild

Yeah. Some super unrealistic stuff in this one, but fun.

Shreddy

I like it more than the third one. Each to their own. Third one feels like they had 10 ideas for where it would take place, and they used all of them. Instead of the confined setting of 1 and 2 (That's actually what happened, "Under Siege" used the cruise ship setting they originally had intended for Die Hard 3, so they couldn't use it. Original script was McClane on a holiday cruise with his daughter, when terrorists take it over)

Shreddy

Lol come on. "Die hard" means he is hard to kill. Or maybe dies with an erection Anyway, the annoying incompetent cops was a returning trope from Die Hard 1. And the ejection seat.. IMO the only super dumb thing about it was the grenade timers. Otherwise it could (in theory) happen, that's pretty much how an ejection seat works Also the reason they didn't shoot guns on the plane wing was mentioned in the movie "Don't shoot, the wing is full of fuel". But yeah the first one is definitely smarter and better. But keep in mind that with action sequels, audience expects some elements to repeat. I think they played that pretty well "How can the same shit happen to same guy twice" Movies weren't as realistic in the early 90s, this was considered a successful sequel, more realistic than most movies at the time because they actually reload their guns a few times. You are being too critical with these, you're supposed to suspend your disbelief a bit in the action genre, especially anything from 80s or 90s. Director Renny Harlin was the hottest newcomer at that point (in terms of action directors) and considered very talented. This was literally the most expensive movie ever made, at the time. Only topped by Terminator 2 a year later. But he ruined his career with one bad movie "Cutthroat Island". After that he would only get garbage scripts. He can direct good action scenes though. Even if many things he does now seem like cliches, back then it was new "Cliffhanger" by Renny Harlin is pretty good, it re-instated Sylvester Stallone as a big action star, after his career had been in a long downward spiral. Also not realistic, so if you need absolute realism, you should see "Free Solo" (a climbing documentary). (That's not a jab at you, you should actually see it, because it's incredible)

Tay Schumaker

Die Hard 3 is also great. The second best IMO. You can skip the rest. As George mentioned in this, after 3 John becomes way more of a superhero and not the average guy that made the series great

Spacedone

You've got to watch Die Hard with a Vengeance. It's the funnest of all of the Die Hard movies and has Samuel L. Jackson as a great sidekick character. It's definitely not a Christmas movie though.

olly.enn

The fuel tanks are in the wings. Makes sense for the bad guys to NOT want to shoot at them ;-)

Chase Lonnergan

This is my third favorite of the REAL Die Hard movies. Everything after the third one doesn't count. Die Hard: With a Vengeance (the third movie) is such a close second to the original that it is almost a tie. This one just doesn't feel right. The first and third movies worked because John McClane was the only person who was in a position to deal with the situation, also, the third movie is directly related to the first and therefore NEEDS John McClane. This one seems to be built around the idea that everyone involved with the situation, that isn't John McClane, is either secretly evil or a window-licking moron. As an interesting trivia note... Neither Die Hard 2 nor With a Vengeance were written as Die Hard movies. This one was actually written as a sequel to Under Seige, with Steven Seagal, but that movie did so poorly at the box office that it was reworked into a Die Hard sequel, and Die Hard with a Vengeance was supposed to be a Lethal Weapon sequel, but they went with a different script, and it was also reworked. It was only when they started writing Die Hard sequels to be Die Hard sequels that the series went to absolute shit. P.S. Bruce Willis started as a comedic actor on a very successful sitcom detective show. One of the reasons people didn't think that Die Hard would do well is because they cast a comic actor in an action lead. Similar to what happened when they cast Michael Keaton as Batman.

Dakota

You want a Bruce Willis comedy? Go with Hudson Hawk. It's both an intentional and unintentional comedy. It's so much fun to watch.

REDR58

I cannot believe they never heard of Moonlighting before even if they’ve never seen it.

akaTheBARON

🖤Simone on a blind date with Die Hard 2. She wasn't looking forward to it. The two sit down for dinner and they're just now getting the opportunity to speak. It's super awkward. Simone: So your name's Die Hard 2? DH2: Yep Simone: Is the 2 like Jr.? Is that how movies name their kids? DH2: I guess. But don't get me started on my father. We always get into a big argument around the Holidays. Simone: Okay... (smiles like she's winding up for a corny dad-joke) So your name is Die Hard 2... What's your last name... Die Harder? XD DH2: (smiles) as a matter of fact... it is! Simone: We're gonna get along JUST fine.... (clinks wine glasses) The End

akaTheBARON

🖤"She would" is the new "That's what she said" Ok, I'm done commenting, I'll start the movie now LOL

Shreddy

True, but Die Hard 1 is only marginally more realistic. I mean the jump in the elevator shaft, come on. Even if he could grab the ledge, he wouldn't be able to climb up after that. That's basically a muscle-up, but way harder. And the cops were a little too dumb to be plausible. How did Dwayne Robinson became a police chief, if he has IQ below 80 Great movie though. And both of these are more realistic and inventive, than most action movies at the time

Shreddy

You are ranking 5 better than this? Are you actually serious? Actually even 4 is complete trash compared to this (both 4 and 5 are terrible film, this was decent)

Patrick

For whatever weird reason, when they're speaking Spanish there's no subtitles on the Hulu version I'm watching. But I can tell you guys have subs.

NotlobParrot

For Simone: The actress who plays the reporter, Sam Coleman was in an episode of Star Trek discovery at one point, but I don’t see her in any of the Classic Trek. I totally think that she would make a killer Star Trek alien. Show me Sam Coleman, the Romulan reporter! EDIT: You want funny Bruce Willis? Hmm… I would say, either Death Becomes Her (1992) which is AMAZING, or The Whole Nine Yards (2000) which is chock full of absolutely bananas-funny performances, and the late great Matthew Perry co-stars.

Patrick

You're giving this movie more credit than it deserves. If you aim high you're not going to hit the wing. He's a professional marksman. Also, you'd only get a fuel leak if you shot at the tank, it wouldn't explode. That's a movie trope.

Patrick

I had a hard time sitting through this movie. It felt like it was created by a 12yr old boy. That plane scene with the grenades was so stupid. Grenades have a 5 second delay max, and it took like 15 seconds for them to go off. Not to mention, only fighter jets have ejection seats. It's one thing to be intentionally silly, it's another to just be inaccurate and bad. I was hoping at least the acting and dialogue would save it, but it did not.

ExtraBigAssTaco

RE: Bruce Willis comedy, you guys should really watch Hudson Hawk. Seriously underrated, and it's not like any other movie. Also, The Whole Nine Yards is one you shouldn't miss. It's a little bittersweet now, because it co-stars Matthew Perry and Michael Clarke Duncan, but it's the reason that Bruce Willis appeared on Friends. Matthw Perry bet him that their comedy movie would succeed, and if it did he had to be on Friends.

E. D.

Die Hard 3 is soo amazing, in so many ways. And regarding a comedy with Bruce Willis, I highly recommend Death Becomes Her (1992), The Kid (2000) was also a good one as far as I can remember and The Whole Nine Yards (2000).

Monica Alarcon

Bruce Willis ejecting from the plane is the equivalent of him jumping off the building with a fire noose tied to his waist...

E. D.

Yeah, part 1 and 3 are the best IMO and McTiernan is the goat

E. D.

It isn´t. You can actually jump off a building with what ever you choose to tie to your waist but that kind of plane doesn´t have that eject thingy.

KnittingHaven

Just want to add a vote for watching Die Hard 3 and 4. I actually like them better than 2, and I do think you guys would enjoy both of them.

Paul G

As someone who works in aviation this movie gives me heart murmurs from all the inaccuracies but, I still love it! This one is definitely more over the top but the third movie is a return to form and is really good, almost as good as the first one. The fourth one is decent, not great but not bad. The fifth one is unfortunately straight trash.

Cody Morrow

If you want to see Bruce Willis in a more comedic role, you should check out The Whole Nine Yards and The Whole Ten Yards with Matthew Perry.

Alex Ch

Thanks Cinebinge! Appreciate the bonuses.

Jesus F Christ

If you've never watched the dubbed/edited for TV version of Die Hard 2, you owe it to yourself to be a witness to the worst overdubbing in cinema history. https://youtu.be/DWjFNMDOKw4?si=DW3XS-LO88E43C0M Please react to this 1 minute 10 second clip when you record the December recap episode.

Paul Schmitt

Bruce Willis started out in comedy before Die Hard, he starred in the TV series, Moonlighting and the movie Blind Date. For a good Bruce Willis comedy, I recommend The Whole Nine Yards.

JayF

Bruce Willis comedies or action/comedies - Blind Date 1987, Hudson Hawk 1991, Look Who's Talking 1989, The Whole Nine Yards 2000 (also starring Matthew Perry), The Last Boy Scout 1991.

John

A Bruce Willis Comedy I would strongly recommend that has a Canada connection is The Whole Nine Yards with the late Matthew Perry.

mpd

Simone should start a spinoff channel about aviation. 1st episode: Planes are huge. 2nd episode: Helicopters are wobbly.

Naturekitty5309

In my opinion the best movie of thr franchise is the third one..hope they get to it soon

Shonnicus

Sitting in the Die Hard with a Vengeance waiting room

WayneC

The scene where they reset the ILS and crashed the plane is movie BS. The aircraft have their own instruments to measure their altitude with respect to the ground, so they would quickly know that the ILS was wrong. And it wouldn't be so easy for the terrorists to reset the ILS. Also, the fire wouldn't move fast enough to catch up with the plane. To take off the 747 would need to be travelling at around 180mph (290kph).

FranciscoGios

As much as I like to hear you guys talk about random stuff before a reaction, I’m gonna pass this one. Thank god I saved Wedding Crashers to see you guys react to funny man Vince Vaughn 😀

Samuel Bruce

3 and 4 are better than 2, I feel 4 is better than 3, but I will admit Samuel L Jackson in 3 is just awesome. 5 can go in the trash.....

Logan Kerlee

Enjoyed watching this with you both, but yeah - this one's a lot weaker than the original. While I'm glad you guys continued on, I was still on the boat of you guys skipping this to get to Die Hard with a Vengeance. That one's really great! I haven't watched Live Free or Die Hard or A Good Day to Die Hard, yet so I'm not sure how the series is after Die Hard with a Vengeance. I enjoyed the first one more than this for a lot of the reasons that George mentioned. This one felt like a weaker action movie in general. Ooh - stoked that guys are hyped for Die Hard with a Vengeance! Hell yeah! :) xD You both are awesome. :)

Wyatt Nuxoll

I'm gonna guess the third random Christmas film you guys watched and I believe based on a hint I picked up on im gonna say that you guys watched Grumpy Old Men

James Lawson

All I need now is for them to watch Die Hard 3 :D But this was really glorious, forgot how gory this film was too, fantastic reaction <3

Patrick

I think the smallest among the many movie screwup in this, was the way the emergency doors opened on the plane. haha It's such a simple thing to NOT mess up.

simon brouillard

The third is good, the fourth is bad and the fifth doesn’t exist. TWBB 😉

Gary Fixler

Dennis Franz (Carmine) is so hate-able in this, but he was actually a big deal playing the same character - Andy Sipowicz - in two very popular gritty police serials from Steven Bochco. He was in 49 episodes of Hill Street Blues (1983-1987), and 261 episodes of NYPD Blue (1993-2005 - ABC's longest-running 1-hour drama until Grey's Anatomy surpassed it in 2016). He played a complex detective battling alcoholism and his own bigoted beliefs. Lots of character growth over the two series. Franz was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series for NYPD Blue every year from 1994 to 2001, and won it 4 times, in '94, '96, '97, and '99. He was the main guy, like the McNulty of the series.

Brad Lowry

FYI, the Southern Head of the Airport guy that Bruce Willis shows the Fax to and starts to believe what he's saying (approx 32:00), is Fred Thompson who, intermittently with his acting career, was a US Senator, he also briefly ran for President in 2008. Most famously, he was the lawyer that worked for the Senate Watergate Committee in 1973 and was the interrogator of Alexander Butterfield when he testified about Nixon's extensive Whitehouse Taping Program that broke the Watergate investigation wide open. As an actor, he kind of always played the same role, "hard-ass southern boss/politician", but he was always pretty good at it, IMHO.

Khan1001

Please watch Die Hard 3 soon! its just as good as the first one if not better. They should have stopped after 3 and kept it as a great Trilogy. Die Hard 4.0 was ok, watched it recently and not as bad as I remember, some decent action but a decline in quality and writing so probably stop at DH3 and the less said about Die Hard 5 the better, I have erased that crap from my memory.

Jesse Coombs

I love this movie, but I do agree that it's pretty cheesy (which is part of why I like it). It's definitely not as good as Die Hard 1, but that's ok; that movie was lightning in a bottle. All that being said, Die Hard 3 (With a Vengeance) is an even better sequel. Better writing, more clever set pieces, and higher stakes. I hope you guys watch it. (I also hope you stop with part 3. All the rest are....not......good.....)

Jesse Coombs

Ok. I just watched the end of this video, and yeah, you guys are definitely going to watch Die Hard 3. No need to worry.

Mitchell Bowker

Die Hard with a Vengeance is pretty great! Worth watching ASAP.

FischerMax98

Of the four Die Hard movies, (I pretend 5 doesn't exist), 2 is my personal least favorite. Still good though. 3 and 4 are a lot of fun.

Monica Alarcon

I hope the next christmas movie is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation because the other two haven't been very crhristmasy...

Andy H.

Not really a comedy, but his character was pretty funny in Death Becomes Her. And, what about Bruce Willis as a bad guy - The Jackal.

sarCC

Thank you, Simone: "Those are some tight pants!" made me laugh so hard.

BangDroid

NYPD Blue has become underrated, I remember enjoying all I watched of it. Definitely adding it to my list and I hope reactors get on it too, that'd be sweet!

N.A. Vreugdenhil

You guys should check out Bandits - it's a comedy with Bruce Willis, very good!

Keerit Thind

I less than three Die Hard with a Vengeance so bloody much. You can immediately tell it is another screenplay (which it was) and they wrote in John McLane. The most enjoyable of the three in my opinion. They attempted the same for the subsequent sequels to atrocious results. Avoid the Die Hards after Vengeance. You guys should also react to the deleted ending of Vengeance. Completely out of character for McLane but an interesting dark take none the less.

Brendan Rafferty

Switching blanks and live ammo would not work. It’s physically impossible. The muzzle needs to be plugged to be able to fire blanks on full auto… and obviously live ammo cannot be fired with a plugged muzzle. Switching live to blank ammo on full auto may seem not a big goof that most people would notice … but to millions of veterans who used both live and blank ammo it’s as realistic as Bruce Willis flapping his arms and flying away.

Steve H

My very first DVD was Die Hard 2; that's not counting my VHSs

W T

Robert Patrick is a good segue into the new Suicide Squad movie and the even better Peacemaker show, if you want to really get a full picture of how you could possibly feel about him in his roles, lol

W T

5th element, being as funny as it is, would definitely be considered a comedy movie. People love to rigidly put them into single categories, but all movies cover a bunch of different genres, so... just because it doesn't fit some particular comedic niche doesn't not make it a comedy flick. 90s action arguably is in huge parts comedy too, just think about True Lies or just about any Schwarzenegger movie - the quips aren't exactly there for show, so to speak.

David Lonewolf Wright

I was at the Manila's airport and a lightning storm closed down the airport for 2-3 hours with a similar thing happened with the arrival board switching to everything being delayed... but they did sort of announce the weather issue and you could see the storm coming. I liked this movie, but I think it suffered from them focusing too much on going bigger and losing a bit of the everyman status that McClaine had. Yeah, Renny Harlan is not the best of directors.
