Breaking Bad: Season 3 - Episode 6 - 7 - Patreon Version

Comments

Khan1001

Damn, was hoping for another 3 episode binge, I guess you had extra time last week, shits gonna get crazy! cant wait to see your faces when..........

Luca Kelly

the reason walt keeps cuting the crusts off is because thats how krazy 8 asked him to do it

Justin James

I can't wait for you to see the second half of the show, as you are now approaching it's mid-point! While Seasons 1-3 are incredible, season's 4 and 5 are probably the all-time pinnacle of television.

PIG

I keep forgetting it's Tuesday when I see these Breaking Bad uploads, like I did back with The Wire with Cinebinge. Makes Tuesdays soooo much better :)

PIG

There's even more to it too :) Why is he doing what he did for Krazy 8 over and over? It's just one of those subtle character ticks that makes this show great.

Tenn Seven

The brothers didn't go back to the shrine in Mexico. They crossed the border into the US, found a random house and took it over. The shrine was one they set up themselves in the random house.

PIG

David Costabile! Great as a lovable lab nerd. Great as a journalist editor corporate sloth. Just a great actor :)

Jeff K

And he was also great in the very first thing in which I saw him, Flight of the Conchords, as Kristen Schaal's husband.

Jeff K

I personally think season 4 of The Wire is the pinnacle of television, but I certainly won't begrudge your take at all, since obviously, this series in general and the later seasons in particular are some of the best ever made. And it's wild that Gilligan and Gould just kept honing the formula and getting better and better, even into Better Call Saul (which, for me, surpassed Breaking Bad by the time it was all said and done).

michael clarke

i think walt liked gale. if you think back to his days working research and as a teacher, his life was filled with those people. he was reading the book of poems suggested. it was the meeting with jesse. the incident. you could see them gearing up and walt seemed like a coworker that spent all night drinking, he just wasnt feeling it. walt is self reflective to a point. he does try to own his behavior, but it only comes in the form of guilt. he doesnt actually take responsibility. he self tortures with the teddy bears eye ball. he sees it, its just a monster he can barely recognize and often is just trying to pretend isnt there. thats why he wanted to pretend with skyler over and over again that they could just start over. im just pointing to, he was being sincere with jesse. he saw the pain he caused and that was his way of easing some of jesses pain and in turn, easing his guilt. which is why i dont think its surprising walt didnt want to talk options. he challenged skylar to turn him in. even waited for the cops. that risk, that threat, he kinda feels like he deserves it... in moments at least. when confronted with his destruction.

Patrick

I feel like people misunderstand how fingerprints and DNA work. If you're not already in the system, the police aren't going to have either. Only thing I can think of is that maybe at some point in his career, Walt needed to get fingerprinted for security clearances. There are a bunch of career paths where that is required. Same with having a wiretap on Jesse, that wouldn't be legally possible at this stage...but I'd probably be paranoid as well.

Deco

You have 30 minutes to move your cube, I'm going to go watch old Simpsons 😂

michael clarke

my families jehovahs witness, so i didnt have much to do. was feeling especially lonely this year when an old girlfriend randomly showed up and spent three days with me. no way she could have known i needed a visit. it was nice though. when new years finally rolled around, i was so worn out i slept right through it lol. sent out messages at 2am just so people didnt think i was dead.

Ryan Skinner

Loving all the pre-show chats! Re: Food & vegan things, I'm not vegan or veg at all myself, but I appreciative of the growing trend of meat substitutes becoming widely available, both at major grocers and even at a lot of your fast food offerings here in the west, since as George points out there's certainly a cultural approach to food here that every dish starts with a protein (which gets incorrectly translated as 'every dish starts with meat' lol) - so the familiarity with non-meat dishes is low, and it becomes a hill to climb when someone chooses to make that dietary transition. And with there being value in those diets (various health benefits, environmental benefits, animal treatment, etc- whole other rabbit hole) - I see it as an ultimate positive to make it easier for people to find ways to settle into vegan/veg, even if the 'substitute products' are only a temporary stepping stone and then left behind when high-quality and natively veg dishes are discovered. Re: Gifts - I'm not big on holiday gifting, and have really tried pushing the mantra of "Do things, don't give things" in recent years - I'd much rather take my parents/family/friends out to a nice dinner, go see a movie, a play, something that they/we wouldn't normally do, and something where we get to spend time together, make memories, etc, instead of arbitrary items which a person may or may not even want/need, and could just add to clutter accumulation that as Simone brought up, is something worth striving against. So while my folks are mostly on board with this, they sometimes still insist on giving me *something* to open for Christmas- which is how I ended up with a cheap (like, maybe $100) drone this year from my dad. I live in a pretty outdoors-friendly place where they're commonly used to great effect, but 90% of my hobbies involve being indoors, and well... it just felt like "uh, thanks?" situation, a case of not really knowing the audience for the gift well, and just more 'stuff' for the sake of giving. It's been a week since Christmas, and I haven't even thought about that thing sitting on my shelf once until this conversation. RIP :P SO ANYWAY, Breaking Bad, am I right? Guess I'll start this video back up and watch; great two episodes you've got here. :D

Patrick

Only reason I can think of for Gus helping out, is to hope that Hank would put up a fight and take one or both of them out. He hates the Solomanca family.

Jeff K

Man, I forgot just how freaking good episode 7 is, especially the climax. Cranston, Paul, Esposito, and then Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks got the majority of the plaudits when it comes to awards and nominations and so on, but Dean Norris doesn't get NEARLY enough credit for his performance as Hank. He's so goddamn good, and makes a character who in lesser hands would be just a douche, a blowhard, and a borderline (at times even crossing that border) casual racist, and made him one of the deepest characters and one of the emotional cores of the series.

MR

Walt deliberately pretended to have issues with Gale in order to get Jesse in. He needed Jesse to drop charges against Hank. on Skyler's behest among other things, so he pretended not to be able to work with Gale in order to get Gale's job to Jesse. If it wasn't that he needed Jesse off Hank's case, without outright killing him, then he would've been perfectly happy working with Gale. He was also probably quite sincere telling Jesse his meth was as good as his, because it never was inferior in the first place.

Jeff K

Yes. Though I do think George nailed it in the post-episode discussion, talking about how Walt has a bit of a fetish for martyrdom. And at the end of the day, even when he's acting "selflessly" it's almost always out of guilt, or to make himself feel better, etc. He's the kind of guy who, if he gave anonymously to a charity, would casually let slip in conversation with friends that he gave the money. "Oh, I didn't do it for the attention" while making sure people know it was him. That's just who Walt is. Everything is either done for his benefit, or so that people will hoist him on their shoulders and understand his greatness.

Jonah Bertorelli

why 3 episodes last week and 2 this week. jkjkjkjk I only typed it to be an ass because you predicted these comments ;P happy to have any episodes released <3 haha

Jonah Bertorelli

The brothers didn't need to kill everyone that saw them at the alter like they did when crossing the boarder. they only killed all the people in the truck because they noticed they were cartel and didn't want anyone knowing they had crossed the boarder and spoil their plans. They wouldn't have had any reason to kill everyone that was going to the alter that saw them.

Jonah Bertorelli

And Simone was correct, Mrs. Peyketewa's house was a different place than the alter, they just set up a shrine there too to pray again I guess.

Actuarial Lurker

If Gail learns too much from Walt then Gus can let the Twins kill Walt and use Gail in his place- Gus also thinks Walt is terminally ill and like a good CEO has a sucession plan for hs very expensive lab's key employee

Jonah Bertorelli

When you guys were watching Billy Madison and you said "hey Carl is the neighbor from Friends" I almost commented, "how can you forget about ol' Joe from breaking bad. only to realize you guys hadn't seen him yet, so I had to delete my comment hahaha. good catch Simone!

Crunkljack

Spent the Holidays working. I drive freight trains

Actuarial Lurker

Gus has Mike call Hank with the 1 minute warning...

Actuarial Lurker

Gus is brilliant- he gets Hank to potentially kill BOTH of the Twins and gets the Twins to severely injure Hank at the same time- with nothing tying it back to Gus

Liam Sluyter

Maria wears purple, always. Was waiting to see how long it took you guys to spot that...

JJ

Nice write up. These guys are really invested in hating Walt, which is fine, he is the villain after all. That said, I think they miss a lot of the finer or more nuanced parts of his personality. I don’t think the writers intended for him to be a mustache-twirler, which is what makes this such a great show.

Vwlss Nvwls

It was so much fun watching you two try and figure out the twists in the story, and how every one would escape what appeared to be their fate. I sounded like a crazed scientist the way I was laughing at the shock you two were in at the end of Hanks gun fight. =D

michael clarke

i dont think so. remember simone said she was still invested in seeing good outcomes for walt at the start of this season (i believe). i think george does reject him fundamentally, but still gets caught up in his struggle. as for me, im actually with george. if that didnt come through, im sorry. i see him as very flawed and nuanced, but hes been beyond the point of redemption as a character in my opinion since season one.

JJ

You’re right. She did say that at one point. I guess my only point is that Walt is a character with a lot of depth, and sometimes people see him as two-dimensional. As for your opinion- Awesome! I’m fascinated by this show, and how people interpret it so differently.

BangDroid

And it goes deeper, why did he cut the crusts off for Krazy 8 in the first place?

Jonah Bertorelli

Not going to confirm life or death, however I will confirm/correct your ballistic analysis. Hank got shot in the arm, the (butt) shot was actually a graze on his upper hip (torso graze). Then he got shot once in the lower gut and again in the upper chest/shoulder.

Actuarial Lurker

That's not a spoiler....who else could have done it? George figured out that the only ones in the desert were Gus and the Twins...and Gus must have made caused the call to be made just as he did with the Pollos message to the cell phone of the Twins when they were IN Walt's house wielding the axe while he was in the shower...

BangDroid

No Indian food, but you did have Larry Hankin in Billy Madison and immediately in the next BB ep

mojo shivers

I think you nailed it when you said Gus wanted the cousins dead. I think the clue is when their Uncle said he didn’t want the cartel working with Gus and that you can’t trust men from South America. I always had the sense that Gus and that branch of the cartel aren’t buddies.

Chris Bruneau

I forgot what an ultimate BAD-ASS Hanks is!!!

shaneth138

Walt definitely didn't get rid of Gail because of his ego at all. He loved working with Gail. Replacing Gail with Jesse just solves so many problems. 1. Jesse dropped the charges with Hank 2. Jesse isn't going to start his own operation 3. If Jesse gets caught he rats out Walt, now that won't happen 4. Now he doesn't have to kill Jesse. He would have loved working with Gail but Jesse on his own was way too much of a threat and he considers Jesse as almost a son, so he really didn't want to just kill Jesse if there was another way.

shaneth138

Yeah bringing Jesse back in solved so many problems at once. 1. Dropping the charges on Hank 2. Jesse now won't start his own operation 3. If Jesse got caught dealing or going after Hank, Jesse would rat out Walt. Now that won't happen 4. Walt doesn't have to kill Jesse. Those problems far outweigh having Gale as a lab partner. But he definitely wouldn't have gotten rid of Gale if he didn't have to.

p0sthum4n

Betcha guys wish you watched three this time now ;)

Tcrimson05T

Just got the record....1 bullet is a lot of bullets to take. Lol 😂

Shonnicus

Jesse venting in the hospital reminds me of Rocky, when Rock went off against Micky in his apartment. Jesse just wanted respect and acknowledge him. Walt gave it to him out the door and the One Time, Walt was not manipulating Jesse.

Philipp Roensch

My holidays were chill and nice with family, thanks :). We actually don't do much with presents anymore, just for the nephews, because 3/5 of us have birthdays Nov-Dec we just get belated birthday presents^^. Speaking of vegan, since I'm the only one and the rest of the family has trouble grasping that concept, it was of course topic number one - at least it's not politics. I would love to learn more Asian vegan cuisine, but I got no idea where to start. Now this shootout, was the tensed shit ever, it still is horrifying. Hank continues to be a nice balance to Walt, doing the right thing, actually risking his own skin. Love the emotional insight he has this episode.

Mr TV Eye

Yes, Walt clearly wanted Jesse back in the lab to not press charges against Hank and with that, also reduce the risk of being exposed himself. I sure Walt was very happy with Gal as an assistant, probably more then he ever hoped for. He had to make something up to bring Jesse back in. Regarding "your meth is as good as mine", I think it's both. Walter knows that Jesses cooking skills grew a lot, at the beginning it was probably really bad quality, but not anymore. But the fact that he admitted it to Jesse in that particular situation was very probably a way to talk Jesse into accepting the offer, otherwise I guess he would be to proud to tell him.

Mr TV Eye

True from Gus point of view. But Walt don't know anything about the twins even being around. So that can't be the reason for him to makes something up to force out Gal. He does that to bring Jesse back in, to cool down the Hank/Jesse situation.

Actuarial Lurker

Correct- all Walt saw was the stuffed toy eyeball that fell from the plan crash moved while he was showering and he did NOT see the death sickle drawn in chalk on the driveway...so he is in the dark

JT

Agreed. I think reactors get influenced too heavily by commenters, who just hate Walt, to look at every thing he does as having evil intentions behind them. He definitely came there to manipulate Jesse into taking the job, but after he saw what pain he has caused him, his remark on his way out the door was genuine.

Elder Lyons

"reactors get influenced too heavily by commenters" you mean when its an opinion you dont agree with? because if their opinions are to still be on walts side, would you still think this?

john blake

Two episodes a week is just fine…don’t you sweat it fam!

REDR58

I’ve been vegan since 1997 and the options have grown tremendously since then for what one can find in non-specialty stores, especially. I used to search online a lot more early on to find what I want, but these days and for a long time now it’s trivial to find exactly what I want.

REDR58

The piano music that played during the first sequence with Gale in the lab is by Vince Guaraldi, who is most probably well know for the music from the Charlie Brown TV specials.

REDR58

Speaking of chemistry, you guys should check out “Lessons in Chemistry” with Brie Larson on Apple TV.

G P

Fun Fact: At the beginning of Episode 6 the callsign 'KDK12' is the same as the Overlook Hotel

Jonah Bertorelli

It is a spoiler when they weren't sure, and guessed both possibilities, and they clarify later in the show who done it. smh lol how is that NOT a spoiler? confirming something before it's confirmed by the show? thats the definition of spoiling lol

Jonah Bertorelli

yeah it was 100% about controlling Jesse and the situation. but I also believe not having someone to boss around and having someone who got everything right all the time did hurt his ego. You can tell it in his face as the episode progresses, he's getting more and more fed up with the fact that he can't bitch at him for messing anything up (therefore stroking walters ego as the one who always fixes the mess-ups) Was it the sole reason or even a heavily contributing factor to get rid of gale? no not likely Was it a factor. absolutely.

Jonah Bertorelli

Maybe I'm misreading that and he just had plans to replace gale with Jesse earlier on than I suspect therefore the "getting upset with nothing to bitch about" could just be him getting tired of looking for an excuse so he had to fabricate one with the incorrect temp. But I feel like his change in attitude was equally about him just wanting a subordinate and not a peer, as they mentioned.

JBK405

I think I already mentioned it in a comment on a previous video, but I'll say it again: Pollo Campero is what you're looking for. The chain was first recommended to me when I said "I wish I could try Los Pollos Hermanos" and it did not disappoint. It is still definitely "fast food", but it is GOOD fast food. In fact, I think I talked myself into going there for lunch tomorrow.

Khan1001

Great Reaction guys, Remember, Gus is extremely smart, he's the only one who knew about the hit on Hank, it makes sense he would call or get one of his guys to warn Hank, Gus was probably hoping they would kill each other off, he gets rid of the Cousins & Hank/DEA at same time, also, I think you guys, especially George, are hating on Walt a bit too much, yes, Walt has done some really shitty things but he's not all bad, he does care for Jesse in his own way, when Walt says to Jesse, 'your meth is as good as mine' it was absolutely genuine, Walt sees Jesse as a son, its a fucked up relationship for sure, but there is a bond there. Walt is a great protagonist and character and part of me is still rooting for him at this stage, you guys should give him the benefit of the doubt every now and then. With Gale in the lab, Gale is a bit too perfect and could get annoying after a while for Walt, I'm not sure if Walt gave Gale the wrong info on purpose or not, maybe it was Gale's mistake?, also, you cant totally blame Walt for everyone's shitty situations, yes, he is partly to blame but Jesse is an adult with free will, no one forced him to make meth and sell it, I love Jesse too but he is still a criminal (to a lesser degree) and Walt did save him from being arrested by Hank in the RV. Hank breaking down in the elevator with Marie made me cry as well, that was building up for a long time, also really humanises his character and when shit hits the fan he is still a total badass man!, took out those two Terminators with no gun! hopefully he lives to fight another day?! anyway, look forward to next week, man this show is so good!, hopefully you guys have some extra time next week and can squeeze in a 3rd episode?

Travis H

I stated in the S2 finale post about how the writers changed how they wrote the show from S2 going into S3. S2 was more overly planned out and S3 was more improvised. They had ideas of where they wanted to take the story but nothing was set in stone. Case in point the Cousins we supposed to be the “Big Bad” of this season but they wrote themselves into a corner and that’s how we got the One Minute ending. And if you think that was stressful just you wait. There is a episode of Breaking Bad (that I will not spoil, and please don’t respond with guesses) where I had to quit midway through because I had a full blown panic attack and couldn’t breathe! And I will be repeating this more when you get closer to the final season, but PLEASE DO NOT do 3 episodes at a time during the final season! The season is structured in a way that 2 episodes at a time works out perfectly plot wise, and doing anything other than that will mess that up and will make things less impactful. (Fellow Patrons please repeat this message when we get closer to season 5)

GBmain

Do we agree that a large part of Walt getting Jesse back in the Lab is because Jesse threatened to give Walt up... If he's cooking with him he has more control over that, no?

james repka

Walt worked at Los Alamos National Lab at one point. His prints are in the system.

james repka

The scene at Mrs. Peyketewa's house was on one of the reservations in the Albuquerque area. I think maybe one of the Apache or Keres (Pueblo) groups. The policeman was from the Tribal Police. In retrospect the choice to present scenes in Mexico in a yellow tint didn't work well. And here the do the same thing on a reservation, which confuses the situation.

Haye Zeus

RIP to two of my least fav characters. The twins are too silly to take seriously especially when you rewatch the show. It was fine that ya’ll laughed at how silly they looked sitting next to each other.

shaneth138

I totally disagree. I don't think he was ever fed up about not being able to bitch at him. I have watched this so many times and never once even remotely got the sense Walt was getting fed up with Gale until the Jesse situation happened.

E. D.

Suggestion: after you finish watching Breaking Bad start watching The Sopranos

E. D.

I feel like that was intended to a certain degree. There is no way Gilligan or others on set didn´t know how those two looked like from certain angles and their behavior in general. They´re almost cartoonish, the sinchronicity when they turn their heads to look at each other etc which by the way reminds me of The Matrix where two agents realize Neo is the one and they look at each other and then run away..

Johen Kay

I've noticed George is really quick to deride Walter. But why? Yes he is the bad guy in this, but a good number of people in this show are "bad guys". Just really strange for me to see someone think about Walt so negatively as a default baseline. Simone has the more balanced outlook in my opinion.

Trevor S Bright

Remember the flashback where the Uncle Hector Salamanca made racist remarks about Gus on the phone. Even though they all work for/with The Cartel, Gus & the Salamancas don't like each other. Whatever happened with the Twins & Hank was a "win-win" for Gus.

Jesse

But Walt was clearly annoyed with Gale, I think George was spot on that Walt wants an underling, not an equal. On a separate note, I also don't believe that he thinks Jesse's meth is as good as his, it was a bit of manipulation that seemed to work because Jesse came back.

JJ

BB viewers seem to fall into two categories: people who like to root for the bad guy, and people who like to watch a train wreck. George is definitely the latter. Nothing wrong with either approach, but it does seem like Simone “gets” the show a bit more than George.

Haye Zeus

The intent was to make them eccentric. I understand that. But it also makes them the least interesting to me. They are one note. Menacing. And once you want to look beyond that there is nothing.

Khan1001

Agree, I think George should try to have a more open mind about Walter like Simone does at this stage of the show, however I get why he really dislikes Walter, the pettiness and ego of Walter can get really annoying at times & he is also a great manipulator as well, especially with Jesse, but there are times when Walt is being genuine and caring towards Jesse but George's first reaction is Walter is always manipulating him and other people in the show which is a bit annoying as a viewer of their reactions because we know Walter is being genuine at times and does care about people, maybe its hard to tell when Walt is being real or not for George, I think Simone really gets the show and understands that everything is not black and white especially with Walter, I sound like I'm hating on George! I'm not, We Love You George! its OK to hate Walter if that's how you feel!

Aaron M

I don't think its weird at all to look down on Walt, he is a disgusting person. Walter grew more and more unpleasant to watch for me, and as the show went on I grew to hate him. I liked the show for the other characters. I completely check out during all the Walter/Skylar drama. In my mind his only saving grace is that he is protective of Jesse in a twisted, manipulative, condescending way. It's kind of crazy that I can enjoy a show so much while actively hating the main character. It shows how well written the show is.

Reid Mclellan

I think he's talking about the episode where walt is a dick to Gale, not the episode they meet, also I think it's more walt is tired of desperately trying to fabricate a reason to berate gale and help his plan of replacing him with Jesse then just flat out wanting to boss someone around

Johen Kay

I don't think I fall in either of those two camps. I just think it's more nuanced than how George perceives it. I don't see Walt as a "bad guy". I want him to succeed because he was given a bum rap (unfair set of circumstances), not because he is undertaking criminal endeavors. He had co-founded a billion dollar company which he left before it went big, he teaches high school chemistry while being extremely over qualified, he has a special needs son (not saying that being a parent to a special needs son is any less rewarding, just that it comes with its own set of difficulties), he is constantly belittled by Hank (which probably isn't Hank's intention), and for the coup de grace, the man was diagnosed with lung cancer, and if that wasn't enough, Skyler cheats on him... Why on earth wouldn't you want to cheer him on, to overcome all of that adversity. Knowing all of those environmental factors, I don't think you can paint Walt in simple black or white, there's a lot of gray to Walt, and that matters. Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

JT

Where did I say I was on "Walt's side"? I acknowledged in my comment that he went there with bad intentions, to manipulate Jesse. But showed a moment of genuine empathy for Jesse once he heard what he had to say. See that? I can acknowledge both bad and good in the same character in the same scene. Magical. This is the exact problem I'm talking about. It's all about what team you are on in the comment section for this show. That's foolish and it takes away from the viewer experience. This is a story full of flawed characters of varying degrees. If you are picking sides from the jump, you are going to end up having to defend some pretty indefensible actions. I love this show and I love to watch reactions to it. But this insistence on having people choose sides really ruins it for me. I've seen reactors succumb to this influence and go all in on the Walter hate so early in the show that by end of season 2 they are cussing him out as soon as he comes on the screen. Why would you do that to yourself? He's the main character so you're going to be seeing a lot of him. Is that fun? I guess it's just a symptom of having an extremely successful show with a wide audience of passionate fans, but I think it sucks and it takes away from the experience the show creators intended.

Alexander Sparf

I'm so glad that George referenced this joke, I was already thinking about it moments before he said it.

Brandon Meng

I just can't get enough of you guys watching this show. Now that I've finished binge watching Schitt's Creek, this BB reaction has become the viewing highlight of my week.

Tucci

There's a massive spoiler in the comments on Youtube. Avoid them if possible, though it was already posted a full day ago.

E. D.

Ppl should stop doing that, I feel like they´re either dumb or vicious. To this day I hate that years ago I read the twist of The Others in a YT comment.

Jesse

I think it's hard to square the thought that Walter White cares for Jesse with the fact that he murdered his girlfriend. He cares for him to some extent and his family but it's very narcissistic, I think he cares for them more so as an extension of himself.

Miguel Tapia

Breaking Bad is an amazing show but if neither of you guys have seen it, I would recommend Mr. Robot. It's a criminally underrated show.

Aiden

In the opening scene of one minute hector mentions he hates the chicken man so they are enemies. So I think the reason why Gus warned Hank was to hopefully kill or injure his family

Armchair Rizzard

We cheer him on early in the show. At this point, he IS a bad guy. he killed hundreds of innocent people in the plane crash, and he barely acts like he feels bad at all over it. Walt is a monster by this point. Great character, but bad person.

J. Valentine

I will sell you my soul in exchange of you two watching SEVERANCE. Please I beg you

Johen Kay

He killed hundreds? That plane crash was on Jane's father not Walt. You can't blame Walt for the unforeseeable.... that would be ridiculous. You can blame him for Jane's death. The question is if Walt knew that letting Jane die would result in the deaths of hundreds of people, would he still let her die. And I think ALL of the evidence points that he would not let her die if that was the case. Jane threatened Walter, Jane in Walt's eyes, was manipulating Jesse. He did what he thought was best. It does not make him a monster.

Jeff I.

I second this guy selling his soul if y'all watch Severance. Such a good show and only nine episodes (so far).

Khan1001

Show recommendations, ignore if watched already; 1. Better Call Saul, absolute must watch straight after Breaking Bad. 2. Yellowstone (Part of the Sheridan Verse on Paramount+, also includes prequels, 1883 & 1923, but watch the main show first) 3. The Sopranos, HBO at its finest, its on the same level as The Wire. 4. Reacher, Amazons most viewed show right now, S2 is great so far. 5. The Terminal List, another Amazon surprise, S1 was great, Chris Pratt is excellent in it, renewed for S2. 6. The Queens Gambit, Anya Taylor-Joy is incredible in this Netflix original, easy to binge as well, only 7 episodes. 7. The Crown, the first few seasons are great, when it gets to Princess Diana its a bit of a mixed bag with some controversy, (but the actresses playing her are very good, they got her mannerisms and voice bang on) more fiction then fact but I still enjoyed it and thought the finale was good. Please add them to the list and watch them when you can, you wont be disappointed.

MR

Honestly, I didn't think it was that great. *Some* good parts, some good characters, but for the most part everyone and everything is just so unlikable, especially in the later seasons.

Jeff I.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Queen's Gambit. It's so good, and it'd only take them like three or four weeks to finish it.

VinnyAhhh

I also concur that I'd exchange J. Valentine's soul for you two to watch Severance

Justin P Fivecoat

My least favorite gift was when my brothers wife would go to Walgreens and give me a multi tool knife. Three Christmas in a row I got a 5 dollar knife / toothpick/pliers/comb which would usually break in a week....the idea of receiving something is nice but, when you phone it in id rather go gift card.

Ph4ZeD

I think everyone is considering Better Call Saul as completely mandatory after Breaking Bad. Would also like to see The Pacific too since they did it's cousin Band of Brothers

Patrick Brownfield

walt cuts the crusts off because thats what Crazy8 did when walt fed him a sandwich and walt ended up trying it and liking it

Mr TV Eye

Damn, I love FOTC, but I never noticed that he was in it. Have to watch out for him in the next rewatch.

Dan Holmes

"regifted" and "yada yada yada" two seinfeld references in less than a minute on a bryan cranston video ;)

Dan Holmes

I'm all for you just talking about food for 2 hours, please start a separate podcast or something :)

Dan Holmes

really need you guys to anticipate ulterior motives from walt lol He's so much more of a nuanced character than you've been giving him credit for lol Not just pure evil at all

Dioskur

George! "I gonna pee, you wanna wrap it up?" Seriously? :D What a poor choice of words!

Michael Short

my least favourite was chocolates since I am supposed to be on a diet. lol

Yeah see my comment about this simplistic view of Walt that some people seem to have is coming true here with you guys. When his attitude toward Gale starts to shift, you just automatically assume the worst and call him pathetic. It couldn't possibly be anything altruistic right? I know I'm a little behind, but I really hope you get past this eventually.

The Film Effect

I don’t get how the hell you got to this view of Walt. It’s a bit ridiculous and naive.

Hexon66

I'm not sure why you're obsessed with other people's journey with characters. I probably agree with you, at most points, about Walt, and not with S&G. (Though with the Gale situation, I don't think they're wrong about Walt, just wrong for the wrong reason). What is altruistic? It's a calculated move that, while immediately helping Hank, is ultimately about self-preservation. There can be no objective reality as to the definition of this character. The nature of art is that consumers approach it from their own perspectives

Dk

When their misunderstanding of a character based on their own personal biases causes them to misunderstand the actual plot line of the show, it's worth point out. If you want to misconstrue that to "obsessed with other people's journey with characters" be my guest.

George: Why would Gus warn him, it doesn't make any sense. Also George: the killers warned Hank

Adam smith

I really hope you guys watch better call Saul after this! It’s SO good and just as good as Breaking Bad!

Habman

Guys you need to relax. Walt got rid of his assistant for one reason. To get Jesse back with him. I know you have a disdain for Walt but seriously there are good things about him. I would hate to see you guys react to The Soprano's or Dexter. There also anti-heros

Jay Willis

someone may have commented already. My only problem with the shootout scene is the setup. If Hank doesn't get that call, he drives off and they have to attack him elsewhere. I know it was just to build tension, but it should've been like "you have 10 seconds". Because then I could buy that they would've been shooting him as he was driving away, instead he sits there looking around for a while, when normally you're in your car and gone in a matter of seconds.

Bert Johnson

Walt is definitely a conflicted character, the entire show seems based on the phrase about good intentions. One of the biggest things to this point in the show: Walt has called Jesse "son" a couple times, but has never referred to Walt Jr that way. Dexter's first few seasons were AMAZING. The other conflicted anti-hero that tops my list is the first season of Homeland.

Bert Johnson

The assistant is also basically the only redeeming quality of "Billions"

AC10

Omg.. ok this is the SECOND TIME ever ver I've heard Simone mention the one and only SUPERNATURAL TV SERIES!!!?!?! 😭😭 So you are watching it?? You have watched it?? This is the 1st time ever??? I NEED TO KNOW MORE!?!?!?! Please and thank you.

Zorak

I used to think George was a smart guy, but he is really proving me wrong during this reaction. He is just so desperate to see Walt in the negative that he shuts off his brain entirely and assumes that everything that happens must be due to a flaw in Walt's personality. And every time he is shown to be wrong, but he just goes on making stupid assumption after stupid assumption, never learning anything from his mistakes.

Zorak

I really wish this reaction was done by Simone only. George is really bringing this reaction down with his constant "Walt's doing this for such and such a reason" and being shown to be completely wrong, but then never having the self-awareness to realize it. He just goes on obliviously being confidently incorrect.

They wanted Hank to fight the cousins, because killing them would've been a bad look for Gus. This way, it's their own decision and they got killed by a DEA officer, so no connection to Gus. Either way, either the Cousins die or at least one dies, or Hank dies the only guy still on the trail. Win win for Gus
