Breaking Bad Season 4 will return after this season of Ted Lasso!

Jeff K

I know this season was considered disappointing by a lot of people, but having rewatched it not too long ago, I really enjoyed it. Yeah, there are a few things that probably could have been cut, but overall, I think there's far more "good" than "mediocre" or even "bad" in this season. It also has some of my absolute favorite moments in the entire series. Looking forward to watching it again. Oh, and George and Simone, go ahead and google the name "Zlatan Ibrahimović" and you'll see just how closely Zava is based on him.

djKENTO

BELIEVE!

Ian Forbes

The Gene Hackman movie Beard and Roy were talking about in episode 1 was Hoosiers. One of the best sports movies, about high school basketball in Indiana. Well worth a reaction. (Still watching reaction so sorry if you guys already disco this later in the reaction.)

Jeff K

I love Hoosiers. One of my favorite sports movies, hands down. Dennis Hopper is great. They fudged a LOT of “facts” when they made it, but hey, that’s what happens with “based on a true story” movies. Doesn’t take away from how good it is. (The montage in the middle of the movie is also great to have on to boost your adrenaline on the treadmill, I've learned.)

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Haven’t caught up to S3 myself but hope y’all have a great watch through! Definitely on my week-off-work catchup list haha 🫡🤙🏻

Bryce Lamkin

I recommend Son's of Anarchy as a show to watch please, it has 7 seasons

Jonathan Wyman

I don't understand the disappointment. While season 3 has a couple of divergent story arcs that take time to play out, they are necessary in my opinion. The last ⅔ of season 3 also has some of the best television ever made (again, in my opinion).

Christopher Henderson

Hey can react to this one anime it's short and popular it's called Yu Yu Hakusho it can be a patreon exclusive.

Conner

You guys have so much willpower to switch off breaking bad after the season 3 finale. I remember watching it while current and I'd have killed to be able to immediately watch season 4 lol

Tay Schumaker

Season 3 gets a little too maligned. Yes the episodes are a bit too bloated, and some of the characters become caricatures of themselves (like Rupert becoming a cartoon villain essentially). And there are some wholly unnecessary plot lines. I have a few other criticisms but don’t want to spoil anything. BUT, there are still some great episodes and moments throughout. Some of the best in the series. And I think it suffered from people becoming too protective over it and thinking they knew what was best for the characters. I’m interested to see how you 2 feel about it since you watched it all pretty close together

Tomas Gaspar

Well...I am glad that you started season 3...would love to see your reaction to the Show The Rookie with Nathan Fillion.

Kenny is feeling like he needs to make some music

Every season sort of has something different as an antagonist. Season 1, it was more environmental. Sure Rebecca was a bit antagonistic, but that was necessary for her redemption arc. But mostly it was Ted and Beard being in a new place to them, trying to figure out a new sport that neither of them had any experience with. Season 2, the antagonist was internal. Mental health, family trauma etc. Everyone had their own internal struggles to deal with. Season 3, I won’t say anything about; until we know you guys have finished watching.

Jeff K

I totally agree with you. I liked it when I first watched it, then saw people start to turn on it and thought maybe I was wrong. Then Natalie Gold watched it and I did the rewatch there. Blind Wave is watching it now, and I'm watching it THERE now, too. And every single time, I'm like... I don't get it? It's still good.

Tenn Seven

The whole "poopeh" thing was just the actor who plays Jamie screwing around with the actor who plays Roy and trying to make him laugh in the middle of the shoot. Everyone who's seen the show ends up loving that line though.

Zinphad

There is a cool homage to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid coming up in ep 5 or 6 that it seemed that too few people got.

Jeff K

Episode 6. That episode is gold pretty much across the board.

Jeff K

By the way guys: the Sith Lord vibe for Rupert was very intentionally done. They were trying to make him feel like Palpatine.

Andi Herr

A thing you missed in your conversation at the end was Roy's monologue about Chelsea. He left because he feared he wouldn't be able to keep up and ended up regretting it. That's definitely a metaphor for how he's feeling about breaking up with Keeley.

Jay

Hard to pick but probably more favourite season. Has the highest peaks of the entire series for me.

Neal Riggins

I'm with a few others. Season 3 doesn't get the same accolades as the other seasons, but I still loved it.

LT

I haven't seen someone put it that way. I agree with you about the fan perspective for many people.

Patrick

Thankfully he plays a small role, because the kid who plays Henry can't act AT ALL.

Chase Lonnergan

As far as Nate goes, I still believe that Nate is still just seeking the recognition and respect he rightly deserves. He is just going about it the wrong way. He sees assholes get respected, so he is mimicking their behavior. On a lighter note, I think that one thing about Roy Kent that is startlingly underdiscussed is his incredible capacity for forgiveness. Just like Jamie in the boot room from last season, once someone makes a sincere apology to Roy, he immediately forgives them. It's an amazing character trait that I never see mentioned.

REDR58

Watch Hoosiers for sure! Even if you don’t know a thing about basketball it’s a great watch. These was at least one other reference to that movie last season I think.

Max Krause

Smack talking about other teams is NOT normal in football. You always treat your opponents with respect in press conferences. You find a strength of theirs, mention it and tell the press that you're going to overcome it. Smack talk is more of a martial arts thing where it's just one person that you're about to literally punch in the face.

REDR58

I think a lot of people don’t like seasons 2 and 3 because they are not exactly like season 1, which is a good thing I feel. I don’t want to watch 3 identical seasons and there is real growth in the characters in the 2nd and 3rd seasons.

Travis H

Welcome to S3 of Ted Lasso, as others have stated it’s a messy season where some of the plots are handled in the worst way possible (and I am sure I will attempt to write an overlong post when we get to them😬). But it also has some of my favorite moments of the series and also my absolute favorite episode (and my least but we will get to that). I’m hoping rewatching it with you two will make me more positive about S3 as a whole.

Jeff K

I'm so curious to know which is your favorite episode, but we'll get to that in time. I have a couple of personal favorites from this season, so I'll be interested to see if yours is one of mine, as well. I'll just say, I feel like the best episodes of the season are all multiples of three, for me, personally.

Chris H.

There's an entire bit with Higgins in Episode 4 coming up that I think was written especially for Simone.

Travis H

I never realized the multiples of three thing but I completely agree, those are the best! I won’t say the episode title/number of my favorite to avoid opinion spoilers, but I can say the word “windmill”, and I think you can figure it out from there.

Cubonemaker

I love season 3 just as much as seasons 1 and 2. Don’t overthink it, trust the process, and more than anything - BELIEVE

JBK405

The thing with Roy Kent and Trent Crimm is that it has been (subtly) foreshadowed for the whole show. In the first season Roy specifically insulted Trent and commented that he'd always been a prick. In season two he finally leaves the TV show after they try to get him to comment on a new 17 year old player that's just starting out. I won't claim it was planned from the beginning -- it may have just lined up that way and they decided to capitalize on it for season three -- but it does combine to paint a picture that Roy has been stewing about this ever since his debut and he finally bucked the trend by refusing to tear down another kid the way he was. Also, his story about leaving Chelsea gives context to SEVERAL of his decisions in seasons one and two. Both personally and professionally. We saw him Quit Instead of Be Fired on several occasions, or be About To Quit until somebody else talked him out of it.

Travis H

I forgot to mention in my previous post but the reason Keeley is as separate from the team and feels like she is in a different workplace comedy series is because Juno Temple was cast on a tv show called The Offer and wasn’t as available for S3 (Fargo S5 may have also been a reason). So most of her scenes this season were filmed whenever she was available, so she didn’t do as much filming with the regular cast.

jackthegent

Mindhunter would be a great show to watch. Its pretty dark but only two seasons. David Fincher produced and directed a couple episodes. One of the best shows I've ever seen

Jesse Coombs

Only because Ted mentioned it, I'd love it if you guys would put Twin Peaks in your spreadsheet.

Logan Kerlee

Enjoyed the episodes with you both. :)

Jeff I.

Seen a few others mention Twin Peaks, so I have to say...I personally think that show is objectively terrible. Awful acting from most of the cast, poorly written dialogue, and an increasingly convoluted/absurd plot. Also, the show's pacing is so slow as to be annoying. Sure, it was a big influence on later shows (that did things better) and I'll give it points for being original for its time, but as a show itself, it's just really hard to watch.

Christoph Plank

I can find hardly anything to like about this season, nothing makes sense to me, character-wise. I used to feel crazy reading positive reviews from people, but I shouldn't waste so much energy on something I don't like. It felt like a big f you to me, I guess.

JBirdLowdown

Enjoyable co-watch as always. I wonder if you guys would consider SHRINKING or THE BEAR after this wraps. Both have the balance of comedy and drama, and SHRINKING is also Bill Lawrence run show and written by Brett Goldstein!

Ben

"Breaking Bad Season 4 will return after this season of Ted Lasso!" Any idea when this may be? my estimation is March 12th, but maybe you'll do three episodes of Ted Lasso some weeks? Just curious, I can be patient!

Eric J Watkins

Hey everyone, sorry to go off the mainline topic, but do we know if Simone and/or George have seen Westworld? I loved the first couple seasons and think it'd be a great fit for the channel if they haven't.

Adam K

Want to make sure you know Zava is inspired by the real footballer Zlatan. There is no person, real or fake, as confident as The Zlatan.

William

Cracks me up the West Ham United story line. I have been a life long fan, so is my Dad, brother, sister and Uncle's. Come on you Irons, COYI 😊

Tim Miller

I'd love to see you guys react to Derry Girls. It is a great show with a similar tone to Ted Lasso. Silly comedy but with some really touching/heartbreaking moments thrown in. Also not a big time commitment with just 3 short seasons.

Terry Yelmene

Ep. 1 - 'It's Poop'ae - with a boatload of doubt!' Nate - even more sinister! Ep. 2 - Roy should have 'stayed'... but he's not able... (Danny is from Mexico)

Amelie W

I think I can see where Barbara's coming from. Going by the snow globes she's been managing finances for like 40 different VC startups in, I guess, 15 years. All of them wanted to be the next Facebook, which is just what venture capitalists do their business by betting on, and it almost never works. Because they're generally being run by vain pampered young quasi-celebrities with rich parents who are perpetually high on their first taste of real money and think they don't have anything to learn about running a business, or working, or managing finances. And there's Keeley being really excited about having a big office, hiring her no-talent friend for a fake job and spending hundreds per week on flowers. Babs is probably not thinking about anything besides she'll take her paycheck and be back home within three months and she'll be able to tell the main office she did everything by the book.
