Awesome!! I have been waiting for you to watch Oceans 13 Let's do this I am so ready to watch your reaction... My youngest son loves simulation games 😁 he loves to play bus simulator and train simulator so much, funny thing he also wanted that I buy him lawn mowing simulator game 🤣 he did play it for some time but it wasn't so much fun like train simulator... BTW Simone I love your taste on monster energy 😉 🍇

GBmain

I was hoping for Jerry Maguire lol.. Saturday I guess

Odd Thomas

Was hoping for X-Men 3 but I'll give this another day in court. It can't be as bad as Ocean's 12

Odd Thomas

I started playing Death Stranding but I felt like an Amazon delivery driver working pro bono.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

This one’s a blast and my personal favourite of the three films. Glad you both had a fun time going through the whole trilogy 😎 Hanging up clothes simulator is my personal “nah screw this” mundane choice to throw in the hat.

Ian Forbes

Given there have been fairly popular games like Papers, Please or Powerwash Simulator (the latter of which I have so enjoyed), I definitely think people would play it if it was done well.

Hernani

Hoping for There will be blood soon !

mpd

You guys should develop a Cinebinge simulator. Makin' polls, readin' comments, editing. Choosing which Epica shirt to wear. Toque or no toque today? I would play that.

Imran Sallay (He Forgot His Memory)

So "I hear Linus crying.." is one of two Godfather references they did because they had Michael Corleone as the villain. The other one was when Danny meets Bank for the first time: "What I want, what's most important to me..." . I dunno if you guys caught that cuz I watched the YouTube edit.

Clooney definitely got super-famous on the medical drama ER in the 1990s, but in an odd coincidence he was also in the medical comedy E/R in the 1980s. He had decent runs on Roseanne and The Facts of Life prior to ER, too. If you're interested in his earlier film roles, two good early ones are From Dusk 'til Dawn (written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Robert Rodriguez of Sin City fame) and Out of Sight (directed by Oceans' Stephen Soderbergh and based on a novel by Elmore Leonard, who also wrote the novels that Jackie Brown, 3:10 to Yuma, Get Shorty, and the TV show Justified were based on). And that actress George was wondering about is Ellen Barkin. Great actress. She'd starred with Al Pacino decades earlier in Sea of Love.

About 10–15 years ago some British fellow wrote Queue Simulator, where you must wait in line properly. It was meant as a joke but wound up a modest cult hit game.

offbrandhotdogs

I've fallen asleep playing Euro Truck Sim 2. A droning engine noise is very soothing, at least to me. But yes, they also do simulate tiredness in the game.

djKENTO

I highly recommend ER. George Clooney is so young and he plays an unconfident little worm of a man at the start. Good doctor, but not cool, not slick. Also recommend From Dusk til Dawn where he and Tarantino play brothers who are bank robbers. It’s directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by QT. BUT DO NOT READ ANYTHING ABOUT IT. That’s all you need to know going it. It’s FULL of surprises and reading ANYTHING could spoil the fun.

Odd Thomas

Two great Casey Affleck movies: The Finest Hours, and Manchester by the Sea. The other great Steven Soderbergh heist movie is 'Logan Lucky'. Think of it as a country heist instead of a city heist.

djKENTO

Oh I forgot Julian Sands plays Greco in this. RIP to a great character actor.

BlindPanda

Matt Damon’s acting in these movies is underrated in my opinion

Josip Buretić

I watched a few episodes of ER back in the day and them some of later season because of Dr. Luka who was played by my countryman Goran Visnjic 😁

Alex Ch

Been less than a month since we lost Bob Einstein. RIP Super Dave.

Odd Thomas

Fun Bernie Mac film: Charlie's Angels 2: Full Throttle. Both movies are great action comedies.

Lawn Mowing Simulator VR launched just a few weeks ago.

VinnyAhhh

So I don't know if "shaking Sinatra's hand" specifically is a thing irl but my guess would be this is a reference to the *original* Ocean's Eleven. That's right this trilogy was a remake of a movie in the 60s where Danny Ocean is played by — you guessed it — Frank Sinatra. EDIT: oops you guys read that in the IMDB trivia my bad

VinnyAhhh

Also for followup movies I haven't seen Ocean's 8 but I've heard generally positive things and would love to do a first time watch with y'all. Otherwise there's another sort of "spiritual successor" to this series called "Logan Lucky", which I would describe as a Redneck Ocean's Eleven that was also directed by Steven Soderbergh.

Simulation games are only interesting to be if it’s something I’m not likely to do in real life, like racing cars or flying airplanes. There is no way in the world I’m going to do something as mundane as housework/ yard work simulations. I’ve done enough pressure washing in real life. Don’t need a game of it!

mky

That reminds me. I woke up the other morning with Scott Joplin music in my head, which reminded me of a movie recommendation: The Sting (1973, George Roy Hill) starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford Great, fun movie. --- Also, another fun George Clooney movie: Out of Sight (1998, Steven Soderbergh) I'm sure others have already recommended this one. Heck, you may have already CineBinged it (I should probably check thoroughly before making recommendations.) Cheers!

To be fair, there's still lots of gameplay abstraction happening. At the end of the day, you're using a mouse to do chores that would wreck your back after half an hour (well...). There's also tons to be said about the process of learning to enjoy them; what if you got audible and visual feedback whenever you properly cleaned a surface? Arbitrary grading would be (and will be) a huge revolution in getting folks used to certain tasks, something you can already do by simply getting in the groove of things, tiny cleanup routines, establishing daily walks, going to the gym - you name it. Funnily enough, there are synergistic effects too, especially with VR games: spatial presence is a very different beast in allowing you to remember and cross-associate tasks with the real thing (even with those almost necessary gameplay abstractions), and while you might not replicate the exact feel and heft of objects to get used to actual items and how you would handle them IRL, there is a lot that games can do to prime you for super mundane housework and the like. I mean, fair enough for not wanting to do any of it as entertainment, but the average human is surprisingly capable of turning the most repetitive nonsense into a nice little pastime. Knitting, cleaning, clearing drains... there's a handful of super enthusiastic YT channels for each and every little bit of work out there. Which, I suppose, isn't exactly normal, but still, do something long enough, and you might end up tricking yourself into actually liking it.

Hope you watch Ocean's 8, it's way better than Twelve. And every Clooney fan has to see Out Of Sight, his best movie.

Persnickity

Simone sneeze simulator. She throws cute CHUUUs. I blast loud hulabaloos

UNC

Any chance we are getting There Will be Blood in the near future from the recent poll?

Monica Alarcon

That guy's spanish is quite good but you can immediatly tell he's not a native speaker...

Michael Short

I play house flipper purely for cleaning messy houses but I pay someone to clean mine in RL Lol

Bryce Lamkin

I recommend Son's of Anarchy as a show to watch please, it has 7 seasons

Prof. Writhms

They need to make a VR game... "Girlfriend/Boyfriend Break-up Simulator"

droodly

Uhh... you left out his best early role... Return of the Killer Tomatoes! (1988) :P

Diamond Awards, with 5 being the best, are a real rating put out by the American Automobile Association (AAA): https://newsroom.aaa.com/2023/05/2023-five-four-diamond-lists/ The new hotel in the movie that Willy Bank runs doesn’t exist and is a visual effect. When they mention doing “an Irwin Allen” as relates to shaking the hotel, that is a reference to the movie producer and director Irwin Allen who is famous for producing big disaster movies mostly in the 1970s, such as The Poseidon Adventure (1972) and The Towering Inferno (1974) both of which your should check out!

RLYtoxic

Viscera Cleanup Detail a good game. I hate cleaning, but I can play Viscera for hours.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Don’t forget “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford”, 2007 was a particularly great year for movies. As for Soderbergh, “Out of Sight” gets my vote. He’s quite prolific but consistently puts out great work, he’s as much of a “competent guy doing things competently” as the Ocean team.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

I was hoping you would refer to the movie adaptation of “Ragtime” directed by Milos Forman. Maybe overly ambitious but imo an enchanting flick that gets overlooked nowadays. You got my vote for “Out of Sight” tho!

One of the attractions of mundane simulation games is the ability to achieve perfection and a flow state. Lawn mowing was my chore as a kid but now I live somewhere where I don’t get to mow. I’d love a lawn simulator where I could maintain acres of uniform grass. Sorry, your conversation sent me into a weird reverie. If you guys like Ellen Barkin that much (and why wouldn’t you) you probably should do Buckaroo Banzai at some point. Polls be dammed. After the conclusion of the Oceans Trilogy you come to a crossroads. You can go straight on to Ocean’s 8. You can go left to Logan Lucky (aka Ocean’s 7Eleven) or you can go back to Out Of Sight (the O.G). All of these options are good. You are in a good place.

Philipp Roensch

I don't know of tax simulators yet, but you can do tax evasion as a turnip! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1205450/Turnip_Boy_Commits_Tax_Evasion/ In Germany Simulator games are quite popular, I also learned many professionals just like to do the same as their job because they can play with equipment/vehicles they usually can't afford and highscores or sight-seeing in flight sim of course. I love this movie, more than the second, not as much as the first. But Al Pacino is a riot, and Matt Damon's Nose even more so.

Cincassette

I love the long intro tangents!!

John

Great movie to watch. I would like to suggest Hero (1996), When a Man loves a Woman, and the Untouchables as three great Andy Garcia movies for a poll or movies to watch. I would also suggest returning to Rocky III in honor of Carl Weathers who died recently. Apollo was his most famous character and getting to Creed is definitely worth it

You read most of the trivia bits I was going to post about -- Early in the movie Matt Damon (Linus) is talking to his father on the phone (dad is of course off-screen at this point, talking about "The Brody." We find out later that the Brody is his large fake nose, named of course for actor Adrian Brody. Later Linus is given an "accelerant" to aid in his seduction of Ellen Barkin. This is called "The Gilroy," which on first watch I assumed to be a reference to the town of Gilroy in central California, self-proclaimed "Garlic Capitol of the World." I discovered that it was named for Tony Gilroy, screenwriter for the original Bourne trilogy. Speaking of Damon, at the time of Ocean's 11, he was already a star, with Good Will Hunting and The Talented Mr. Ripley under his belt, but before Ocean's Twelve he became a big ticket star with the first two Bourne movies -- this is why Linus begins asking to play a "bigger role" in the heist. As you mentioned, he shot the 3rd Bourne film consecutively with Ocean's Thirteen, earning the right to appear in the final airport scene and try to out-cool Danny and Rusty before catching his flight.

Simone, I really hope you get round to trying ER like you mentioned. It's actually a great show with an amazing core cast for the first 7-8 seasons.

Ari

It wasn’t luck that Bank went down into the Greco with the magnetron phone… The crew used the drill to trigger shocks/mock earthquakes three times. The first time, it was a small tremor. Bank was concerned that the Greco might’ve been compromised by the tremor and that’s why he went to it to check. That’s when the Greco is shut down by the magnetron.

Jon

Simone (and George too, but mostly Simone), the account manager in me wants to say, don’t show the drink labels on camera until they sponsor you 💰💰💰

Shelley Lloyd

I feel like, since y'all really liked the revenge motive of this film you would enjoy the show Leverage.

Lopaka

Do you plan to watch Oceans 8 as well? Same concept as the trilogy.

Patrick

Wish granted haha It won the poll which always comes out on Saturday's.

Patrick

Hiring someone as a "model who serves" is pretty common when you're being hired based on your looks. Hooters for example does it. I mean, it feels like a weird loophole but you took that job for a reason. It pays more than a regular waitress job.

Ricardo Alanis

Job Simulator was a great parody of this idea where you are a future visitor to a museum when work is basically non-existent so it poorly (but funnily) lets you see what working was like. I also loved Shooty Fruity that was working in a grocery store but fighting off zombie fruit in FPS style.

Sir Jimmothy

I'm late to this one but these movies are my favourite series to rewatch, even years later. The second one is much better in a rewatch when you can pay attention to the details. If you like these movies, you should consider watching the UK TV show Hustle from 2004 - every episode is like a mini Ocean's movie :]

Donna Castellano

This is a late comment but George Clooney - I believe - got his first big role in the later seasons of The Facts of Life. He was a main character in the seasons before it went off air. I saw those as they aired. When I heard he was gonna be in something more serious like ER, I was kind of doubtful of how good he'd be. But he ended up doing more than fine.

Farbod

"Anything thicker than 5 inches and we have a problem" - and silence from George. Very disappointing.
