the guy playing penguin's dad is the recently deceased paul reubens ( pee wee herman). some people didnt notice.

brian burke

not christopher walken though

Michelle pfeiffer carries this movie on her back. U take her out and it’s sooooo bad lol. Way too Tim burton-y.

Michael

I think from a filmmaking perspective, it’s appropriate to infer that Kyle suffers a traumatic brain injury, medically “dies” (the cats are attempting to eat her corpse), and then reanimates in a very Burton-esque fashion. This provides a little bit of gothic narrative to the idea of Catwoman possessing multiple “lives”.

Doug the Movie Guy

I always love this depiction of the Batman / Catwoman relationship. Feels very organic and fits this version of both of them. Micheal Keaton's Batman isn't as cagey with his identity.

*Sees George in leather catsuit* This better not awaken anything in me

Jesus that thumbnail is terrifying hahah

The memetic shittiness of Gotham City IS commented on in the comicbooks. It really started in the '90s (During the "Dark Age of Comicbooks") when the city had one disaster after another and the crime was portrayed as so exaggerated to be almost dystopian. Sometimes it's used as a gag (yes, another bomb blew up my building, third time this week, it's Gotham whaddya gonna do?) but sometimes it's used to explore serious issues in the way comicbooks can. The depressed nihilism that infects the populace after so many public catastrophes, the rampant corruption in the government and police forces, the crushing poverty (That mainly impacts immigrants and people of color), etc. One of my favorite comics is "Gotham Central". The series as a whole focused on the GCPD Major Crimes Unit, and the cast are the cop characters who are the minor supporting characters in Batman's own books. Captain Maggie Sawyer is a character who transferred from Metropolis -- she started as a supporting character in the Superman books -- and despite facing costumed supervillains in both cities the series emphasizes that Gotham is a very different world. "This isn't Metropolis, Captain, and not just because our guy works at night. This isn't the city of tomorrow, it's not San Francisco, it's not New York City."

there was an extreme backlash to this film that caused the studio to change course. thats why the other two films in this part of the franchise are really just terrible and aimed specifically at children. something i noticed watching your video was that penguin is 33, which is usually a christ reference. christ was 33 when he was crucified. the bassinet in the sewers is an obvious moses reference and then the first born thing at the end. i saw this as a child. had an intense crush on michelle, but the overt sexuality didnt really do anything for me at the time. i just remember being horrified by the penguin. even rewatching it on homevideo i remember almost vomiting when he was eating the fish and then biting that guys nose and the black bile on his mouth at the end. last time i saw this was for an art project i was working on and it was days after jan 6th. i really had no idea going in, but it was chilling the parallels of trump and the penguin. i was recommending it to literally everyone i talked to for days lol.

GBmain

That thumbnail lol...

Stugotz

ah man, you guys talked over my favorite joke in the movie - when Penguin says "why is there always someone that brings eggs and tomatoes to a speech!"

E. D.

the thumbnail lmaoooo 🤣👍

In England they have a chocolate biscuit called Penguins that each have a different penguin themed joke printed on the wrapper. They're kinda similar to the Tim Tam which is a chocolate biscuit one finds in Australia, and are much better if you ask me even though with the Tim Tam we miss out on the priveledge of enjoying a good penguin joke due to Arnott's (the manufacturer of Tim Tam's) not including jokes on the packaging. I think Arnott's needs to start printing jokes on their packaging for Tim Tam's, penguin themed or not.

Wrencher86

Yeah, the Catwoman origin in this movie is, uh, vague? Nonsensical? Dumb? Vibes-based. We'll go with vibes-based. Just roll with it, it's fine.

jmundt33a

Let's be completionist. Go for BF and give Simone the Batman & Robin Cinecringe experience.

Logan Kerlee

Holy shit!! xD That image for the video is next level freaky! Well done George and Simone.

Jeb Manning

I've said it before, and I'm going to say it again, the next Batman things you two should definitely watch are Batman Mask of the Phantasm and Batman The Animated Series. Both feature Kevin Conroy as my favorite Batman and Mark Hamill as my favorite Joker. The movie and the series are two of the best Batman media to ever come out. Both pull you into the tough choices Batman has to make, and both are intense, adventurous, and dripping in that brooding gloom that people love about Batman. Batman Mask of the Phantasm and Batman the Animated Series are so much worth watching.

Hyperdryve

Thanks for the nightmare fuel thumbnail 😂

FranciscoGios

Lmao!! this is my favorite YT Thumbnail of the Year.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

With the suggestion/recommendation that “Batman & Robin” be turned into a drinking game for every ice pun. George shouldn’t have to suffer through that again sober.

Dwight Scarn

That thumb nail of Simone made me lol 🤣

Rob Church

The clown that kidnaps the baby is Mac's dad from Always Sunny.

Patrick Evans

There is a continuation of this version in the comic Batman 89.

Ryan Skinner

Some other fun Always Sunny/Burton Batman crossovers: The guy whose nose Penguin bites is Wally, the overly friendly neighbor from "Mac & Dennis Move to the Suburbs," and in the first of Burton's movies, Joker's 'number 1 guy' Bob is also the bum shown to be... *ahem* ... 'making a mess' in the alley at the start of the "Bums: Making a Mess All Over the City" episode. :D

Jacob Lantom

Mother of sweetness, that thumbnail.

Ancient_Red_Dragon

Any way we can get an Adam West Batman movie reaction?

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

In release order it came out right in between “Batman Returns” and “Batman Forever”. And if G&S haven’t had the pleasure of watching anything from the 90s animated series, “Mask of the Phantasm” is a great starting point.

Matt

Now you guys should check out BIRDMAN 2014 also starting Michael Keaton and kind of references his batman films, its one of my favorite movies ever won the academy awards that year for best film, director, screenplay and cinematography

Happy Hanukkah

I take it that Simone has settled on a Batman-themed wooing of Jared Leto.

Tacitus G. Kilgore

I know you're probably busy, but if you two found time to play Baldur's Gate 3 together and upload the VOD somewhere I would be terribly grateful. I don't know if Simone played it on twitch and I just missed it; but if you have a spare 75+ hours it would be great lol.

Happy Hanukkah

[I've hesitated about writing this, because I truly do not want to unintentionally cause offense. But as the lulz cannot be denied:] Looking at George in the thumbnail, I am reminded of Ricky Gervais's dig at James Corden at the Golden Globes. (ADDED: I wish to emphasize once again that I did not wish to insult George; he is in no way comparable to James Corden!)

Mastervodo

Man. I remember watching this back in the theater. Michelle was great. Devito did what he did. But man - watching it again all these years.... soooo bad. Campy. Silly. Compared to the Dark Knight Nolan series ... Dark Knight is just so so so so much better.

James Stephenson

Superman 1978 pleaaaaaase 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

LighthouseGuy

I love watching funny campy films. Don’t get me wrong I love the Nolan trilogy and in general like grittier movies. But I feel like they have forgotten to have fun with it nowadays. Everything is expected to be the best movie you have ever seen.

Andi Herr

"Michelle Pfeiffer is the meat." George, no. Seriously. Just ... don't.

Dan Holmes

For a great different Pfeiffer role pls check out I Am Sam :)

Greg Bell

26:05 Don't you mean "why so serious?"

hurryupmode

If we want an explanation maybe Toxoplasmosis?

Hal451

I hope you guys continue with Batman Forever. That's the one I grew up with and I never understood why some people hate on it. I don't see how it's any sillier or over the top that this one is...

Sckmnky

George in this thumbnail lmfao
