Great reaction! <3

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Aw one of Pixar’s somewhat underrated movies with some great jokes. I wish they kept blooper reels around a lot longer for their later films too! Also Simone’s dream sounds like a Homer’s “photographic memory” of the town hall meeting situation hahah. HeisenGeorge notwithstanding

PeppermintWizardOfAus

As someone who’s seen the movie and read the book, reading Dune does not detract from the experience of watching Part 2. It’s a complete cinematic experience no matter how you experience it

Michael Green

Simone not reading Dune before part 2 would be my preference, honestly. I understand George's concerns over the conversation, but is that much different from Gladiator, You've Got Mail, or this very video? Obviously I love (the first three) Dune novels and think she should read them eventually, but Simone having absolutely no idea what the heck is going in has its own appeal. Just my two cents, I'll watch the reaction regardless!

W T

mainly your fault for the way you dance

JayF

Read up on Frank Oz. He was Jim Henson's right hand man with the Muppets, voiced Ms Piggy, Fozzy Bear, Bert (from Bert and Ernie), and many others. You've seen him in at least one movie as he played the cop who booked Dan Akroyd into prison in Trading Places.

JayF

A Tarantino roll would be a pastry shaped like a big toe and filled with strawberry jam so it would "bleed" when you bit into it.

Persnickity

In your into talking about the old super cheap comics. Penny Dreadfuls, which is also a very good horror/dry british humor/ not well known show but stars a stellar cast!!

Persnickity

A Tarantino roll.... Foot shaped croissant covered in a red berry jam. Its important that you start at the toes, then move to the heel, take a long break of fantastic dialogue, then scarf it down in fantastic glory

I watched Dune Part 2 yesterday and it was soooo good!! I can't wait for the streaming release to rewatch it here. It truly feels like one of those landmark cinematic events, maybe one of the best sci-fi film ever made! Also weird take maybe: I often prefer the film and book more if I watch the film first, as the book will go way more into detail and elevate and amplify the things I already loved about the film (especially one as well executed, and visually fantastical as the new Dune). When reading the book first, even the best adaptation can be a let down, as you're left missing so much of the book that was simplified for the film. Since Simone has already seen part 1, I'd recommend continuing blindly and reading the novel after watching part 2, but of course everyone can make that decision for themselves. There are good arguments for both approaches.

If you enjoyed Steve Buscemi In an animated villain role, you should definitely check out Monster house from 2006. You would like it anyway

JayF

This era of Pixar was truly special. It's a shame that Lasseter turned out to be a creep because the quality dropped sharply when he left.

Guillermo Antonio Ricci Alvarez

Monster's University is a prequel(it changed some facts the first one had) and it isn't bad but isn't as good as Inc. Monsters at Work happens between Sully realizing laugh could save the company and Mike giving him the restored door

BangDroid

This is one I never saw years ago so this was awesome to watch a long with you guys, such a sweet movie!

Josip Buretić

I love monsters inc so much!! Looking forward to watch your reaction right now

JokerDanny

Some movie suggestions for you guys: Elvis (2022), The Iron Claw (2024 available now on amazon), This Is England (2006), Kidulthood (2006), 127 Hours (2010), Nowhere Boy (2009), The Wizard Of Oz (1939), Grease (1978), all three Willy Wonka films. All fantastic films.

JokerDanny

On the vhs version of this movie they had outtakes and credit of the monsters actually performing the play they claimed they were rehearing for, you guys should react to them.

Odd Thomas

The sequel Monsters University is great too.

Odd Thomas

Wreck it Ralph is one of the best animated movies you should watch next. It's Dreamworks Animation rather than Pixar but very much to the latter's standard.

Paul Davey

Sorry for the spoilers but oh man, htf did Simone just predict the zombie storyline twist in the final season of Breaking Bad!? No point in finishing it now I guess :(

Paul Peavler

Fun fact about the toys in Boo’s room toward the end, that was in fact a fish from Finding Nemo, but Monsters Inc came out two years before Finding Nemo. I’m sure it was in production or pre-production at the time, but it was really an Easter egg for a movie that nobody had seen yet.

Paul Peavler

I think this movie is supposed to be a meta-commentary on the fossil fuel industry (maybe even capitalism in general). There’s another energy source that is much more efficient and far better for the kids, but Waternoose and Monsters Inc are so caught up in their legacy business model that they don’t care. They would rather exploit that legacy business model in an entirely unsustainable way (the scream extractor) than have to adapt to a new one (laughter). And the way they fear-monger about kids being dangerous is like how the legacy fossil fuel industry fear-mongers about nuclear energy, for example.

Logan Kerlee

I had SO MUCH FUN watching this with you two! :D hahaha, the memories! :) Such good vibes.

Logan Kerlee

Really like your stance on watching the movie before reading the book. :) There totally are some exceptions but I still absolutely love adaptations. One huge example for me would be reading the comics before watching the movie/cartoon of something. I LOVE imagining how characters move and get around in a scene and with comics it's so thrilling to imagine everything! Reading a comic that has a giant bold lettered THWAP as Spider-Man fires a web is just so damn cool! Makes me feel excited and happy when I see something like than in a comic.

offbrandhotdogs

Billy Crystal was in like 30 seconds of This is Spinal Tap as a mime. I think that's the only other movie he's in that you've watched for the channel.

djKENTO

I love when Simone is like “oh that’s from Finding Nemo”… Finding Nemo wouldn’t come out for another 2 years. They always sneak in a tease fro the next movie.

REDR58

I haven’t read any Dune books and have seen the 1984 Lynch film a number of times and Denis Villeneuve’s Part One a few times. I think anyone can follow along with Part Two just fine without worrying about the books. I think Simone and George should watch the Lynch version. It’s a bit strange but worth a view. Its production values are top-notch and I think it looks better than the newer ones in terms of set design. Tom Hanks, do check out “The ‘Burbs” from 1989 and “Philadelphia” from 1993. One is a crazy comedy. The other is not! A good Billy Crystal action comedy is “Running Scared” from 1986. Gregory Hines also stars. It a fun movie.

Monica Alarcon

Weird, I remember there being bloopers and a scene from the musical during the credits...

Superpotroast

Yeah, I was looking forward to them seeing the bloopers.. "Put that thing back where it came from or so help me!"

George, If you were with me, you wouldn't be here in this strip club shaking it for dollar bills!

🖤The second Simone started rolling with the phrase "Tarantino rolls" I knew she was going the food route but my brain was in the salty/savory zone via pizza roles. I'd fuck with a dessert Tarantino roll I suppose. It would be shaped like a bear claw... only more... human... cuz ya know... Tarantino... Interesting that George thinks of Steve Buscemi as an actor of dark/serious/crime type rolls and weird when he's in something funny or light because of what he saw him in first, because to me I've always seen him as more of a comedy guy via Adam Sandler movies because I think the first 4 movies or so I've seen him in were comedies. He does everything so well that when you see him for the first time, or first few times in a certain roll, it's easy to associate him with that style. But then you see him in other stuff and realize the man has range. I wish I could post a picture here but I have a painting of Steve Buscemi on my wall above my computer so I look at it all the time. Its very... weird... yet soothing...

JLee

Billy Crystal was Miracle Max in The Princess Bride

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

I’d love it if they could get to ‘84 “Dune”! I don’t think they’ve done any reactions based between originals vs. remakes yet and it’d be fun to see them compare and contrast the 2 major release adaptations. But I’d prefer that they watch the “Spicediver” fan edit as it’s easily available on YouTube and is the most complete attempt at ‘84 “Dune” due to studio mandates cutting the theatrical cut to just over 2 hours.

Ginger

Monster's University is indeed a prequel and it's even better than this one. Highly recommend it.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Same deal with first being exposed to Steve Buscemi through his odd little side characters in Adam Sandler movies. But he immediately blew me away when I first saw him “seriously” in “Reservoir Dogs” and “Fargo”. My personal favorite role that I’ve seen him in is in “Ghost World”. He’s has quite a great face that I think should be prized for every role he’s in, like Peter Lorre, Bruce Campbell or Harry Dean Stanton, really a study in physionogomy.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon guys, haven’t seen this in ages and forgot how nonstop the gags are in quite a short runtime. Though like with many a classic Pixar movie, it’s the heartfelt bits that stick with ya.

MJH

Based on the pre-film chat, you should put The Lost City (2022) on a future poll if you have not seen it yet. I won't say it is an amazing film that everyone needs to see, but it is fun and has a good cast. Nice light hearted film that both of you would likely enjoy. One of the few recent films I have been pleasantly surprised by.

Vwlss Nvwls

This is my favorite of all the Pixar movies. It is just the most unique and most fun, in my opinion. I am 54, and I still enjoy watching this one.

Ben

I really enjoyed re-watching this, I hadn't seen it in years so this was a great excuse to watch it again, It's such a sweet and fun movie. Having said that, I'm surprised that you reacted to it before Toy Story, given that Toy Story is the iconic film that started it all, not just in terms of Pixar movies, but computer animated films in general. I'm assuming, since I do remember seeing Toy Story on a poll, that you haven't both seen it and it's still eligible for a future reaction? because it genuinely is brilliant and I think you'd both like it. I'd also highly recommend 'Up', and 'Finding Nemo', and 'Ratatouille', actually there are a lot of great Pixar movies you should check out! I really hope you do.

Patrick

I haven't seen this since I was a little kid, so I hope it feels like a fresh watch. I just remember some of the characters. PIXAR basically never fails. It's also nice to know that unlike other similar companies, they seem to treat their employees well both in terms of compensation and keeping stress levels manageable by not overworking them.

Vwlss Nvwls

My guess for the kids being toxic to the monster world is the same as why we think monsters are scary. Monsters are into scaring, so you cannot just let them be scared by kids, so they needed another reason to fear children in the monster world which is something toxic that can end your life.

REDR58

The restaurant “Harryhausen's” that the trouble really started at is a reference to Ray Harryhausen who was a highly-regarded special effects creator. He is perhaps most famous for the stop-motion effects work in “Jason and the Argonauts” (1963) and “Clash of the Titans” 1981. Both are great movies you should check out. The voice of the boss Henry J. Waternoose III is the work of James Coburn. He had career lasting 45 years in Hollywood and was a good friend of Bruce Lee, and was also a student of Lee’s. After Lee died, Coburn was one of the pall-bearers at Lee’s funeral. After the popularity of the early James Bond movies, Coburn starred in a pair of spoofs of that film series, “Our Man Flint” and “In Like Flint” and both of those movies are referenced in the Austin Powers’ series (and both movies are goofy and fun!).

Patrick

Just finished. This movie was even better than my childhood memory of it. *Just a heads up, there's no counter on the video*

Bennett Holleman

Love how Harryhausen"s restaurant refers to the actual monster animator.

Christopher Carson

Been watching y'all for 2 years now(?) and I finally got one of Simone's opening quotes. Achievement accomplished!

Adam Wetstein

i love how everyone tells you how hard it is to work with child actors, however we are all smiling about 90 per cent of the time while we do

Tinfoilnation

When you noticed the Jessie doll from Toy Story 2 and Nemo fish... there are *so* many easter eggs in Pixar films, where they generally reference both released and not-yet released movies. Finding Nemo wasn't even done yet. In Sully's house are numerous pizza boxes from the Toy Story Pizza Planet shop. The Nemo fish is also on the wall of the door they exile Reggie through - and in fact in the very next scene when the cajuns are dealing with the 'gator in the house the Pizza Planet delivery truck is parked outside. This is also the exact same trailer and truck from A Bug's Life. tl;dr -- Pixar films are *loaded* with easter eggs, so any time you do one keep an eye out while watching.

Sckmnky

Jizz in my pants still bumps to this day.

John

Based on the Introduction discussion, you should consider watching Romanticizing the Stone

sarCC

Speaking of The Lonely Island...you two should really watch Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. It's a great spiritual cousin of This Is Spinal Tap.

Raven Dark

George, the fae books Simone was talking about would be like what happened with the Twilight Saga, but for adults instead of the YA audience, and with Fae instead of vampires. You're welcome. LOL Watching the reaction now.
