The last weekly polls winner was I Am Legend, which will be available this Saturday. Until then here are SOME of the films recommended by you guys. Remember, you can vote for multiple films!Reminder: movies that don't win does not mean they will never be watched, it just means they will be watched later. Please be respectful to each others opinions, we're all just here to have fun and watch movies :)

Steve Matthews

If you want to have a really good modern classic. I would recommend the early 2000s Count of Monte Cristo, its one of the best revenge stories ever and you get to see a young, teen, Henry Cavill, which feels weird.

Reid Mclellan

Man people are salty at I am legend winning, I mean I didn't vote for it either but damn it's not that bad I thought it was ok. (I do recommend the alternate ending though)

Jay Davis

This may bust up your chifforobe and make you want to go someplace like Bolivia but I'ma vote Lawrence of Arabia here. The trick is not minding.

Florian

As a personal classic I want to reccomend the 13th Warrior

Amar

I am a huge fan of inspirational true stories. Hoping you can make a true story poll one day and put some of my favourite real life stories ever. 1. "The Terminal" which is a Spielberg film and is Tom Hanks most underrated performance. 2. "The imitation game" with Benedict Cumberbach about breaking enigma the Nazi code which people thought was unbreakable. 3. "Pursuit of happyness" Will Smith's best performance by a mile and his own son plays his son in the movie. All film are masterpieces when you want some inspiration! Thanks guys

Grinznmore

Wow, you've never seen The Wizard of OZ? Iconic, and significant in so many ways. No film in American filmmaking is referenced as often. It will be a blast to watch this with you.

Scott Mazzei

If you end up watching The Wizard Of Oz. And this dosen't spoil anything, in the scene where there is snow falling on everyone, the snow was pure asbestos.

redddfer44

I'd be happy with any of these, but my sole vote goes to the magic that is Newman & Redford.

Mastervodo

If you end up watching the Wizard of Oz... a cool thing would be to watch "The Wiz!" Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Richard Pryor...

Tim Nicolle

Lawrence of Arabia by a mile!

Will Sofer

Seems fairly obvious to me that the Wizard of Oz will win. It’s one of the must-see cinematic classics that’s crucial to film history, like 2001: A Space Odyssey. Book’s way better, though.

ShōNuff3K

I think everyone should watch The Wizard of Oz. Then, The Wiz will make more sense.

cincassette

nice list! I always like the classic ones, and these are all great! "Singing in the Rain" would be a good one too!

Reece Chapford

Here are some suggestions in completely random order :) The Birdcage 1996, Parasite 2019, The Graduate 1968, Mary Poppins 1965, Babe 1995, Willy Wonka 1971, The Favourite 2018, Vertigo 1958, Walk Hard 2008

jmundt33a

I see Wizard of Oz winning this in a walk.

Raymond DeGraw

Very nice poll... I'm hoping for the Wizard of Oz. Always love your reactions. Here are some movies I look forward to seeing you reaction to. 1. Alita Battle Angel 2. The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) 3. Falling Down 4. The Game 5. Labyrinth (1986)

Adam K

I can’t comprehend going through childhood without seeing Wizard of Oz

Roddy Hutchinson

should watch them all eventually, all are excellent

Reece Chapford

.. and a few more random suggestions I really think you'd enjoy 😜 Crazy stupid love 2011, Bridget Jones Diary 2001, Dolemite is my name 2019, Rear Window 1965, American Pie 2 2001, 3 Billboards outside of Ebbing Missouri 2017.

Random Nevermind

Two recommendations for the future classics poll: A Streetcar Named Desire Breakfast at Tiffany's

The Gunslinger

Speaking of classics. You should check out Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock.

Helly R

Be cool to check out Lawrence before Dune Part Two.

Joe Williams

Some great choices here. Lawrence of Arabia and Butch Cassidy are absolute essentials. Some classics suggestions: Roman Holiday The Graduate The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Night of the Hunter.

Rayna & Mike Sitter

You NEED to add "The Apartment" to any classic movie poll.

Haye Zeus

Sweet i voted for the two least popular right now. Ben-Hur is an epic and I think there’s a lot of fun to be had with it. Gone With the Wind is looked down upon these day, which i’m not saying it doesn’t deserve cause it’s very problematic. But I always enjoyed it for it’s grand sweeping melodrama that can be hokey but I feel still works and also a lot of fun to have. And I think Scarlet is one of the greatest female characters of all time. And mostly because she’s such a terrible person that’s still very intriguing and entertaining to watch.

Michael Buhl

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is probably not the most important movie on this poll, but it's the one I most want to see you react to. If I could add a movie to the poll, it would be Sunset Boulevard.

Smooticus

Since Wizard of Oz looks to be running away with it, might I suggest the trilogy of - Time Bandits Brazil The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Smooticus

If y'all ever get around to doing Lawrence of Arabia, you may as well do a few more of David Lean's epic classics - Dr Zhivago Bridge on the River Kwai Ryan's Daughter

Nabikon

Gone With the Wind only because the first time I ever watched it (back in like...'96/'97) my sisters and I put the 2nd VHS in first and didn't realize for 30 minutes

JayF

I'm kind of shocked that Simone hasn't seen the Wizard of Oz before.

Simon Pegged Me

I'd recommend "Cool Hand Luke," "The Caine Mutiny," and "Psycho" for the next round of Classics.

FWPJR.

I would love to see you two react to a Marilyn Monroe movie, I just love her so much and I’d enjoy watching you two watch one.

Terry Yelmene

You can't pick among these. These are MUST SEE like Lawerence of Arabia which if a bit too long, is perhaps the greatest cinematic masterpiece, ever, or To Kill a Mockingbird which may be one of the Top 10 performances in any film (Gregory Peck) , or likely the greatest duo ever Butch and Sundance (Newman / Redford) , or perhaps the most historic film ever- Gone With The Wind, which looking back, became merely second, to the other film released that year; The Wizard Of Oz. No... there is no correct pick... but I voted for Sound Of Music because Geoge deserves that shear joy (and to understand the Ted Lasso finale better - of course if it's Butch and Sundance, both George and Simone will appreciate Roy learning to ride a bike in Sunflowers).

Dwight Scarn

The wizard of oz is a classic!! Was on tv alot in my childhood. Definitely left a great imprint on my imagination.

Luis Torrefranca

For the sake of a little goat herder, watch The Sound of Music!

Wrencher86

Cool Hand Luke not being on here is a bummer. But these are all certified classics. Emperor of the North is another older film that I really enjoy. Lee Marvin and (a very young) Keith Carradine as train hopping hobos during the Depression trying to avoid Ernest Borgnine's sadistic railroad conductor.

John

An idea for a future poll, musically related: 1. Footloose 2. Flashdance 3. Breakin' 4. Newsies 5. The Wiz

Tim T—

Brazil (1985) is not just a hairstyle, you know.

My name is Jere

Had to give some love to "gone with The wind" its a masterpiece. Classic among classics

pedantech

Harold and Maude (1971) would be a fun reaction. It's more of a cult classic, though.

Happy Hanukkah

I restricted myself to voting for the two I am most likely to watch the reactions for, but they are all, well, classics.

Kinokind

True, everyone of these deserves attention in the future. I suspect the differences in the poll either reflect those individuals who haven't seen all of these films or the degree to which they'd prefer to see them reacted to. If Lawrence of Arabia does better than, say, The Sound of Music that does not reflect on its classic status, just priority.

beefjerkywizard

Awesome choices. I'll throw out The Great Escape as a future classic to explore

Michael Johnson

Need some Hitchcock - North by Northwest, Rear Window, etc (they may have done some, I've not watched every episode)

G P

Dollars Trilogy, Barry Lyndon, Eyes Wide Shut

Chris Kimmel

How are they going to do a musical if they can't play the music? 🤔

Scott CineRam

The Wizard of Oz is ESSENTIAL cinema...but it's also a musical, which makes things tricky for you. Regardless, I hope you see it.

Logan Kerlee

Very happy to see Lawrence of Arabia doing so well - though, I'd like to see it win, I'll enjoy Wizard of Oz as well. :)

BangDroid

Never seen The Sound of Music tank so bad! These are fantastic picks and I love them all, but my essentials are To Kill a Mockingbird, Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz

BubblyRainbows

Well, I'm gonna stay out of this poll. Putting aside the fact that I can count on one hand the number of movies I'd actually rewatch from before like... 1973, my dad owns exactly zero of these movies in our DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital collection, so no matter what gets chosen, I can't do the full watchalong anyways. Best to leave the decision to the people who will benefit. Having said that, Simone and George, you win no matter what gets picked. I've never seen "Ben Hur" or "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," but all of the ones I HAVE seen are movies everyone should see at least once. I'll assume the ones I haven't seen belong in that group too. So, no downside for the two of you that I can see here. ✌️🤓

Mikebdrx

I’m just gonna throw some 80s action movie suggestions in. You know just cause. BloodSport Kick Boxer Above the Law Missing In Action 1 & 2

fmcmullan

To Kill a Mockingbird for an incredible acting performance from Gregory Peck. Lawrence of Arabia because it doesn't get more epic that this. And, as always, I'll throw in my usual beg for Barry Lyndon.

Philipp Roensch

Sound of Music would be a first watch for me as well, would love to see Lawrence, it is quite interesting through modern eyes and still beautiful.

JoeE

Would recommend some like it hot, the searchers, singing in the rain

Mathew Hill

Anything but Gone with the Wind. I know some people like it, perhaps out of nostalgia, but in my opinion it's one of the worst movies ever. Not only is it, even for its time, a problematic romanticisation of slavery, but it's also an incredibly meandering, almost plotless, following of some awful characters in a not even entertaining way. It's one of very few films I genuinely regret having watched. For a classic that is still entertaining I'd recommend Singing in the Rain.

Nicholas Jensen

I know that Ben Hur isn't doing that well on this particular poll, but it is worth watching. Even as someone who isn't religious, it is an incredible movie. Only three movies have ever won 11 Academy Awards and Ben Hur was the first. I personally think that all of these should be watched, with Gone With the Wind being the last on the list for me. Whatever you choose, you won't go wrong.

Anodyne

That's the first Cinebinge list where I want to vote for every single movie! But, Lawrence is such an important movie...

pedantech

Some other ideas for classic films: Old Yeller (1957), Shane (1953), Where the Red Fern Grows (1974), Swiss Family Robinson (1960), Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), Pete's Dragon (1977). If you include early 80's, I'd add one of my favorite films, The Secret of NIMH (1982).

werewolfhunger

nice, i was going to suggest a classic poll today , and i got one without asking, what a quinky dink! for the next classic poll : 1. The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) 2. Spartacus (1960) 3. Taxi Driver (1976) 4. Casino (1995) 5. Annie Hall (1977) 6. Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993)

Duncan Carlton

Lawrence of Arabia for epicness and glorious cinematography, to kill a mockingbird for emotion and story, then throw some hitchkock in the poll like vertigo or strangers on a train.

Chase Lonnergan

Looks like The Wizard of Oz is gonna win, which is an excellent movie. Some recommendations of my own: Road House From Dusk 'til Dawn The Count of Monte Cristo (2002 version)

Rachel W

Yeah! A Classics poll! So thrilled to see this. Some more for future--"Inherit The Wind" (1960)about the groundbreaking Scopes Monkey Trial(George would love the debate issues here!), "Citizen Kane"(1941) and "Streetcar Named Desire"(1951).

Rachel W

To Kill A Mockingbird is such a beautiful film.

Kim

You can’t go wrong with any of these classics, To Kill a Mockingbird is definitely a little more serious viewing.

Colin Reid

Toto! I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore!

Brianna Williams

The Wizard of Oz and Sound of Music are both so wonderful. Comfort films.

Long-time Sci-Fi Enthusiast

For future consideration, I`d like to recommend the (Thin Man Series) of 6 Comedy/Mystery films, starting with (The Thin Man) in 1934 through to (Song Of The Thin Man) in 1947. Starring William Powell & Myrna Loy.

ThePVO

Please tell me you're going to do The Wizard of Oz with The Dark Side of the Moon

Jonny

Lilo and Stitch

Darin Foat

I voted for Lawrence and Butch Cassidy. Lawrence in overall a better film - a true epic. But Butch Cassidy has Paul Newman, who is such a magnificent actor.

Mo's Not Mortal

Take this however you will, but what kind of rock have you been living under? Wizard of Oz is so ingrained into pop culture that you would figure out the entire story without even having to watch any of it.

Richard B

Lawrence for its cinematography and score. Obi-Wan wielding a different kind of saber.

Grinznmore

For women month. The Miracle Worker. Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke 1962. Five Oscar nominations. Two awarded. Director Arthur Penn. 96 rating on tomatoes.

Thomas Hilbert

Ben Hur, 11 Oscars, same as The Return of the King and Titanic, enough said :D

Jay

Didn't Oz come 2nd/3rd on a recent poll, what's it doing here?

Thomaz Chagas

Some suggestions: - Almoust Famous (2000) - written and directed by Cameron Crowe - Big Fish (2003) - Make sure Simone is hydrated before watching. - Gangs of New York (2002) - Daniel Day-Lewis and Leonardo DiCaprio

Eversharpe

Honestly you should watch all of these, except the Sound of Music, I can't stand that film, it is so, so bad.

Travis H

There is a strong argument for each one of those movies to win, great poll! I’m voting for To Kill a Movkingbird and Butch Cassidy. And it’s crazy that I have been pushing for more musicals for a while and we finally get one winning a poll yet I can’t support it! I have a weird relationship with Wizard of Oz and I can’t stand it because my brother ruined it for me. And of course the obligatory please watch Knives Out and its sequel!

Jay

Come on guys, 1 horror film in 12 weeks. This must be addressed!

Happy Hanukkah

Looks like I need to dig out my Pink Floyd and replenish my supply of inhalables.

Sgt. Hugo Stiglitz

Not recommending doing this in place of watching The Wizard of Oz entirely, but there should definitely be a Patreon only video of watching The Wizard of Oz synced up to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album, and preferably enjoying that experience a bit…elevated

Brandon Meng

Citizen Kane and The Maltese Falcon, two glaring omissions here. Obviously these are all classics for a reason but To Kill a Mockingbird is based off something that became classic, albeit controversial, American literature and is standardized reading in schools across the country. Really important work. I wonder if it's viewed the same for Canadians?

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Keeping to the theme of English speaking classics, for future consideration I’ll add “On the Water Front” and “A Streetcar Named Desire” as y’all have yet to see Marlon Brando in all his youthful magnetism. And from the other side of the pond, Powell and Pressburger’s “A Matter of Life and Death”, if you have David Lean on the list you’ve got to add these 2 as well. And to satisfy my love of horror, “Dracula” (1958), the first of Hammer Horror’s Dracula movies and Christopher Lee’s first crack at the role.

akaTheBAY -AY-Ron

🖤Looks like Wizard of Oz will get it's day soon. It was on in at least one other poll (Possibly 2?) and it took it on the chin LOL. The great thing about watching The Wizard of Oz (assuming the poll keeps its current trend) is after, you pretty much have to watch The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie (1990). They just go so well together. And Simone was just going on and on and on about how sick she thought the TMNT/Fortnite collab was. "People who use the turtle skins aren't sweaty at all" she would say XD.

HeyHeyJK

As much as I get it that "Wizard of Oz" is winning, I'm putting in my vote for "To Kill A Mockingbird". One of the great films of all-time and I think G&S would put it alongside "12 Angry Men" as one of their all-time favorites. I'm just glad "Gone With The Wind" is in last place given its glorification of the Confederate's cause to keep slavery as subtext. "Lawrence of Arabia" has its own problems, as well, with its depiction of the 'white savior' trope.

Nico Colaleo

If Lawrence of Arabia wins just remember: Be VERY well-rested before watching. I'm not saying anything bad about it at all, but it is epic and LONG. When I first watched it in college for a film class it took me 3 different days to watch the whole thing because I kept falling asleep at so many points in the film

Martin

One enthusiastic vote for Ben Hur.

Ben

I really hope you watch 'To Kill a Mockingbird', but I'm curious, have you read the book? I believe the film is a faithful adaptation anyway. While I'm here, my usual suggestions ... ⦁ 'North by Northwest' (1959) ⦁ 'Labyrinth' (1986) ⦁ 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' (1988) ⦁ 'Dead Poets Society' (1989) ⦁ 'Parenthood' (1989) ⦁ 'Toy Story' (1995) ⦁ 'One Hour Photo' (2002) ⦁ 'Little Miss Sunshine' (2006) Also, as St. Patrick's Day is approaching soon, would you consider watching an Irish film to mark the occasion? I'd like to suggest one of the releases by the Irish animation studio 'Cartoon Saloon', perhaps 'Song of the Sea' or 'Wolf Walkers'. Thanks!

MPH

All of these are decent.

Michael

My favorite golden age films are probably All About Eve, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and The Old Dark House.

Skyruff Creative

I am always torn with “gone with the wind” as it is one of, if not the most, successful box office movie. Thus anyone interested in movies should see it…. But it is just so “out of date” in themes that it’s hard to watch.

Skyruff Creative

There are hundreds of great classic movies. For G&S I recommend “The Ghost and Mrs Muir” 1947 and “Captain Blood” 1935.

Shonnicus

Unfair poll. Cause of You Know, classics. Difficult choice.

Felreign

For consideration: Sonic The Hedgehog, The Emperor's New Groove, and Stardust

M.C.G

Since you enjoyed 12 Angry Men so much, and To Kill a Mockingbird is in here already, I'd suggest Inherit the Wind, The Ox-Bow Incident, and Anatomy of a Murder. (Ox-Bow is a bit of an outlier as it's not a courtroom drama but I believe it works as an interesting companion piece to 12 Angry Men)

Dan Holmes

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner is a little younger than some of these but should still be considered when talking about classics :)

Lex Kuzma

Laurence of Arabia is so fantastic.

Shreddy

Rear Window?

AstralCars

The Third Man (1949) on the next Classics poll please. This movie out-classics most classics

Ginger

Voting for The Wizard of Oz, primarily so we can see you react to the sequel "Return to Oz" - Muahaha! (you'll get it)

ExquisiteCapybara

Not many germans voting, eh? Ben Hur gets shown on TV basically every easter here (or used to be wehn i was young, not sure that'sstillthe case). Its not gonna win, but would love to see it sometime on the channel.

Jared Fenton

Check out Being There with Peter Sellers. George would really appreciate that one.

Jon

.... I wonder who's gonna win...........

Brandon Meng

The Sound of Music didn't stand a chance after that last episode of Ted Lasso.

Ginger

Some random recommendations for you guys: A Knights Tale, Face Off, Tenacious D in The Pick Of Destiny, Mel Brooks History of the World Part 1, Top Secret! and for Cinecringe: Birdemic (the best kind of trash: the one where someone earnestly tried to make something great and made every awful decision along the way)

MapleResolve

Is The Wizard of Oz an excellent film? Not really. But it left such a profound impact on Western filmmaking and culture that it can't be missed. Lawrence of Arabia inspired the likes of Spielberg and Scorsese to pursue filmmaking. I can't think of another film that scores 10/10 in every category (writing, directing, acting, cinematography, design, effects, score... everything is just outstanding).

Zero Cochrane

Wow, I am legend is going to be a tuff one for Simone.

nossieboy

Oz is OVER 1000!!!!!

Michael Gryphon

Some more classics to add to your list: Citizen Kane (One of the greatest films ever), The Maltese Falcon (The greatest films noir movie), Sunset Blvd, and Singin' in the Rain (One of the best musicals ever).

Huckleberry lobo

Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) for more Cate Blanchett.

Dazzler & Em

For the next classic poll, I would like to recommend a matter of life and death, bridge over the river kwai and the ladykillers(1955). All are great films with some of the greatest actors of all time.

JoeE

Would also recommend m and anatomy of a murder

China Andronicus

Lawrence of Arabia really must be seen by any film enthusiast. For other future suggestions, Harold and Maude, Psycho, the Thin Man, Some Like It Hot, It Happened One Night, Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner. All great films.

Sito

I recommend a tv mini series The Odyssey from 1997.

Nitedals

Hello, long time listener, first time caller. I would like to recommend a much underrated movie. Der Untergang(Downfall) it's an historic movie depicting the last days of ww2 in europe. It's not only well made, but as a fan of history and a history movie buff i can say that Der Untergang is the most historically accurate movie i have ever seen.

sam goritz

micheal grooms aced it in his choises

Kurt Hockenbury

You should do a poll of 1980s Fantasy movies; sure, you watched Conan, but have you seen Beastmaster? Time Bandits? Excalibur? Labyrinth? Ladyhawke? The Princess Bride? ...dare I say "Hawk the Slayer"? (though that one may fit better on Cinecringe)

Jeremy

How do you get a movie on the survey? I would love to see Bubble Boy go up and there aren't many reactions to it.

Logan Kerlee

While I'm certainly not surprised with how this vote went, I'm happy that my choice came in second. :) One day I hope that they'll get to watch Lawrence of Arabia with us. :)
