The Holy Prepuce, or Holy Foreskin (Latin præputium or prepucium), is one of several relics attributed to Jesus, consisting of the foreskin removed during the circumcision of Jesus. At various points in history, a number of churches in Europe have claimed to possess the Prepuce, sometimes at the same time. Various miraculous powers have been ascribed to it.

In the title, “Prepruce” is misspelled (extra “r” in the middle). It’s correctly spelled in the episode description though, “Prepuce”.

...why a cave though? They're a week out from sleeping in a barn, now they gotta circumcise him in a cave?

Eli reading this was the funniest shit. I vote he reads other's essays during any unexpected absence.

Dude, I'd be in jail already if I were subjected to any of that nonsense. I am driving to spend the holidays with my kids in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and I am genuinely worried I am going to mouth off to some trumpanzee with an AR-15 stuffed in his asshole or something. Wish me luck, hopefully my mouth won't write any checks I can't cash.

You have to imagine that every so often, some pope or cardinal is answers the peasants' questions about which Jesus foreskin is real and are just like, "guys -- none of them are. This is a scam where you get to believe you'll see your dead loved ones again and we get money and to rape your kids. Don't ask all these stupid questions like the magic stuff we told you about was real."

I trying my very best..! 😬👍

I was just talking about Jesus’ foreskin less than a month ago! I didn’t know it was an actual thing and some random twitter Christian thought they “got me” by telling me it was, in fact, well documented and cool and good. This is awesome!

Hope all is ok with Tom. He is missed. Awesome work for the rest of the crew filling the hole he leaves behind. Because let’s be honest. … it’s a big BIG hole. Seriously hope all is well man. Also I love the idea of writing an essay with the intent of someone else reading it 🤣

I'm late catching up, but I have fun relic facts (courtesy of the two medieval history classes I took in college). 1) The reason that relics were big business is that theologians decided that saints' intercessory powers continued after death, and that each part of the saints' body contained the power of the whole. 2) Theologians later decided that relics could not properly be stolen; after all, if the relic had power, it should be able to stop a theft. Thus there arose the doctor of relic translation, which is what they called it when a relic was stolen and, like, lightning didn't strike down the thieves. It was assumed that the saint agreed to be moved, or translated, to a new location. 3) Minor relics were considered to be parts of their communities, with responsibilities in exchange for prayer. As an example, if a town with a relic was struck by drought, the townspeople could shame the relic for not interceding for the two to bring rain. This shaming would typically involve taking the relic off it's plinth or out of its reliquary, putting it on the ground, and having the townspeople turn their backs on it. I love medieval Catholic history. It is very silly

I feel like foreskin elasticity wouldn’t last long enough to make an appreciable ball of them. Obviously, more research is needed.

The Muppets will never stop meaning way too much to me. I miss The Muppet Show, so much. AND, they always had backstage, pre-show shennanigans!
