Cosplay yay! “Presumably David and Lucy will work out the kinks…” Oh so it gonna be THAT kind of anime? J/K 🤣 Very good episode. I’m quite impressed at the structure and pacing of this show so far. They seem to always hit a perfect balance of action, character development, and world building. Good stuff. IIRC the Tanaka kid last episode was tauntiing David by implying his mom was , shall we say, trading sexual favors. That popped in my head when you mentioned she might have gotten the tech that way. Speaking of Tanaka, the whole “you can come back to school on a scholarship” thing seems WAY too easy. David turns it down out of pride and being fed up with that whole scene but I smell a trap in their offer as well. Betting there’s more to that. He’s not done with them. Faradays voice was very familiar to me so I looked it up and it’s Giancarlo Esposito, who has been in a TON of cool stuff. Great actor. The monowire, or monofilament whip in some franchises, is an iconic weapon in the cyberpunk genre in general. It was something of a running joke in the TTRPG days that having a character accidentally cut off one of there own limbs with one was a rite of passage of sorts. Speaking of which, this episode pretty much had the exact feel of a session of the TTRPG. Find gig. Make detailed plan. Something goes off the rails. Improvise like crazy to save your ass. Loved it.
