I suspect that Grumman just hadn't made the connection between Raven's "ridiculous" question about a corp of immortal soldiers and Grumman getting pushed out. I think what we are being shown with Raven's character is that even compassionate people can get corrupted. More generally, I love how FMAB showcases many different character archetypes and world views, even beyond the seven deadly sins of the homunculi. I think it's safe for me to point this out now that you are this far into the story, but I think the worldview that Bradley embodies is that of nihilism, which you especially see in the Ishvalan war flash back episode when he's talking to the Ishvalan religious elder. Kimblee on the other hand, while similar, is less-so nihilism and more "might makes right". A quote that I think fits Kimblee well is Thucydides' line that "the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must", though in the case of Thucydides, he meant it more as an observation rather than a moral value. Also, I just want to say that I love the more analytical nature of your reactions! There aren't many reaction channels out there where I can leave deeper comments like this.
