I love seeing new people get into this series 💕 Tanjiro my BOY

Yay! So happy you're starting this series! For context on the movies (so you dont have to look it up and possibly see spoilers): The first half of the second season can be watched as a movie OR as episodes. It exists in both formats. They're identical as far as I know. The final season is being done as 4 movies instead of episodes, which is the news that you're hearing currently as they are released. This is all contrary to many other anime where movies are stand alone, non-canon, or tell side/back stories. "What a sweet boy!" - you're going to be saying this a lot. Tanjiro is so wholesome and lovable

This will be amazing! I love Demon Slayer so much. Everyone always says its simple, but thats something I find compelling about it. The story, the philosophy, and the setting all make Demon Slayer feel like a fairy tale or folklore to me. Its wonderful!

Scarmath

I have my critiques of Demon Slayer, but it always looks and sounds beautiful.

Sebas Tian

Oh nice, Sophie watching another anime about a good big brother trying to make his sibling back to normal. Let's go

Adam Banwell

I will be following this religiously, can't wait for the movie reacts!

icyfire

While this show may not be as philosophically deep as my 2 favs (AOT and Vinland Saga), this show never fails to bring out the emotions in me 🥲

Buzzard

OH BOY!! I want to discuss so much with you but I'll defer for now so I don't inadvertently let some spoilers out.🤐 The experience will be richer when you find out for yourself.👍

Jeff

Hearing your theories after episode one reminded me of the vinland saga episode 1 theory crafting you did. I think it would be super interesting to revisit your episode one theories after a series ends or even once you are decently deep and have gotten the actual "Vibe" of the show.

Demon Slayer has my favorite first episode of a shonen anime. It perfectly introduces the theme and motivations of the main character and also the challenges and the beliefs of people regarding demons.

Leah Henderson

Woohooo, new show! This has been on my list to watch for years, so I'm glad to have a reason to start it at last! 😄 I too am very curious about the demon lore 👀

Anna Kyruin

Just FYI (assuming a bunch of people didn't already tell you so on discord) there's an after credits on each episode called the "Taisho Secret", they're honestly very silly non canon bits sometimes related to the episode sometimes not. You could skip them without missing anything plot wise, but I find them quite amusing and some are occasionally rather meaningful. they do not spoil anything as far as I can remember.

charlie

Honestly one of my favorite things of even just the anime medium is how different anime/manga draw their eyes they can be so unique and I agree I especially love the eyes in Demon Slayer

Vivasvan Gautam

let's gooooo. You're definitely in for a visual treat Dr Sophie. Ufotable (studio animating demon slayer) has done an excellent job working on animating the manga. Its honestly one of the best works out there in terms of animation quality.

Krul

New series! Yay! It is interesting watching your reaction to this show, its animation and its design decisions since I feel like it is very "classic-shonen" in the way it looks. However, since you have mostly watched shows that try to stay away from classic anime tropes it should still look relatively fresh to you. As others have mentioned, the animation for this show is top-notch, so I'm really looking forward to see your reaction once we get to the extended fight scenes.

I've observed that the Demon Slayer fanbase on YouTube tends to be quite pleasant 🤝, especially when compared to the more contentious discussions often seen within the Attack on Titan community. The differing viewpoints in AoT can sometimes lead to friction among fans.👥️💢💥 If your Patreon members won't hold it against you (perfectly fine here and the meaning is the same after all), I'm just a little concerned that you might annoy some die-hard fans on YouTube if over time you keep saying demon hunters instead of demon slayers haha. 😅 Since the intro and outro music are not included in the reaction, does that mean you skipped them? I believe it's for the best to avoid spoiling the recurring characters of the show.

sparky

Great to see that you're starting Demon Slayer. The story is not nearly as intricate as AoT, Vinland Saga, or FMA so I think it would be an easy watch, especially for someone as perceptive and analytical as you 👍👍 Out of curiosity, have you heard of Code Geass? I think you'd really like it

Mei

Haven't done the math but I do hope you'll be able to finish catching up to the latest (a movie) if only just to experience watching the final movie on the big screen. This anime got one of the great animation studios and it's such an experience watching their work in the theatre! Also, I wonder if you'll love this so much you'll be compelled to get a Demon Slayer-inspired tattoo. XD

WondrousMay

I’m glad you enjoyed the first episode! I’m excited for you to experience this story in all its glory! I liked the story and the characters so I hope you’ll continue to enjoy it!

Wyld89

Are they not canon? Dont they sometimes explain little details about the world building or characters' backstories/personality quirks?

Anna Kyruin

I mean in the sense that they aren't actually real things happening. They do talk about the world and characters sometimes, but they exist in some kind of parallel liminal space outside the reality of the story.
