Tanjiro is the best character, but I LOVE Inosuke. To my mind, a one-note character has no business being that funny. He's SO over the top, he's so ridiculous, but he's great at what he does in a really crazy way. Zenitsu shouting, "that's how you wake up?! I hate that more than anything!" had me rolling. Then Inosuke is in the background of every scene running head first into trees. And the Japanese voice actor is perfect for him. Love the voice, love the laugh every time, love the delivery. The name on the loincloth thing is a good catch. It's not actually a plothole, but it does remain unexplained for a long time.

The intros for both Zenitsu and Inosuke as aggravating personalities actually turned me off to the show at first! Rewatching it now, I can more easily recognize how well the writers did with endearing them to the audience while highlighting Tanjiro as sort of the foil to their... quirkiness >___> I also think Inosuke and Zenitsu show different flavors of insecurities that manifest in the most manic of ways. Inosuke wanting to show off and prove he's better at everything; Zenitsu being convinced that he's weak and needs to be protected. They low key distract from Tanjiro who balances them by being steady and stout of heart, but we know how much pain and emotional trauma he himself is working through after having lost his entire family + searching for a cure for best gurl Nezuko. He just can't help but step into the role of big brother despite all that T^T I really love how goofy this show gets about exploring complicated characters.

Poor Inosuke, I swear he’s hiding behind that boar mask not just because he’s trying to channel his inner wild animal, but because he’s likely embarrassed that his face looks like it just stepped out of a beauty magazine. I mean, who wouldn’t want to cover up a face that delicate haha? It’s like he’s saying, “I promise I’m tough! Look at my boar mask! " 🐗 Jokes aside, I'm often intrigued by that androgynous beauty concept in anime, like Jinshi and Inosuke, who share the common trope of being beautiful boys/men mistaken for girls/women.

We’re halfway through S1 now! Time flies! It took a while for me to warm up to Inosuke but he’s a pretty fun character for his wildness and intensity haha. The next arc is going to be fire 🔥
