Godzilla 2014 FULL REACTION

Comments

Anthony Ancona

Welcome to the Monsterverse! Godzilla is an Earth monster his origin is a mystery but he absorbs radiation. I am looking forward to seeing this film and reactions. As a kid I saw all of the Godzilla movies from Japan.. I have selected this movie in the past. I am glad it was picked. Let's go

LesFleurs

I've waited for monsterverse reactions for a long time, this is so exciting!

Crusader

I’ve waited for you guys to watch it, never had any time to request it, About to watch the reaction

Akuma

I'm glad you two watched it! There's varying opinions on this movie but personally I love it, and it's great at setting up the subsequent Monsterverse movies.

AnGeLuS

I feel exactly the same. As a child, I also watched all the Japanese Godzilla movies, over and over again. I like the newer US versions too. I also had a large Godzilla action figure.

AnGeLuS

The original Godzilla is from 1954 and is in black and white. The US movie from the 90s isn't a real Godzilla film, it's just trash :D This one here from 2014 is much better.

AnGeLuS

One more comment on the origin of Godzilla. Godzilla is a product of Japan. He was created as a way to process the trauma of the atomic bombs dropped on the country. The first Japanese Godzilla film was released in 1954. In those early films, Godzilla appeared as a force of nature and a form of punishment for humanity, retribution for building nuclear power plants and bombs. Godzilla himself embodies the rage and grief of the many souls who perished due to nuclear power; he was mutated by nuclear energy and actually feeds on it. Later, in the 1960s, many Japanese Godzilla films were released in which he was no longer just a malevolent punisher of mankind, but a savior. He appeared increasingly often to protect people from other monsters, leading to epic monster brawls. There is certainly a lot of depth to the Japanese films. There are at least 33 Godzilla movies from Japan, and I’ve seen them all :D

Rob & Trin React!

Not perfect but wow fun fun fun and Godzilla will go on to do great things!!

Venom

Lets GO!!!!!! Monarch, here we come!

Crusader

Ken Watanbe was also doing the voice for Drift in Transformers the blue Samurai, After this one FYI is Kong Skull Island, another masterpiece, i wasn't a big fan of Godzilla before this movie came out, They made him feel like a real animal than a monster imo, Keep up the good work

Crusader

and i love that they modernized the roar of Godzilla

AnGeLuS

2014 marked the start of the new US Godzilla movies, and they are truly very entertaining. They’ve all got this Godzilla here with them. It's One Storyline. The order is as follows: Godzilla (2014) Kong: Skull Island (2017) Godzilla II: King of the Monsters (2019) Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)

SlipS_Tiger

Visually really cool. My only criticism back then was the lack of Godzilla in the film and all humans being dull characters, meanwhile killing the most interesting character in the beginning of the film. I was so invested in Bryan Cranston’s character. I wish he didn’t go so quickly. Still had fun whenever Godzilla did show up on screen.

Behrad

lets go!

Farva

Still don't understand how you get one of the greatest actors of our time in to your Godzilla movie, and then kill him off in the first act. Baffling decision.

Rob & Trin React!

Was wondering if he was still doing Breaking Bad and could not stay for the whole thing, was such a tease though!

Farva

I know! Killed me the first time I saw this.

MKeiran92

Seeing this in the cinema was such a joy! Although I love King of the Monsters (2019) even more!

James

Apparently this movie inspired a whole universe to be built around it. The monsterverse. I never watched any of them, I don’t know why but they never appealed to me and I found the concept of a “monsterverse” cringy I guess. I was very mistaken because this movie was actually really damn entertaining and I really hope you guys react to the other ones in release order. This also inspired the currently 2 season TV Monarch not sure where that fits in the timeline though.

Cindy

I didn't think Godzilla 1998 was trash. I really liked it and still watch it.

SYN

Godzilla: King of Monsters is my personal fave from this universe

Cindy

If you do decide to explore more monster films in future (I like them) I might also suggest Love and Monsters (2021) or MEG (2018) or Lake Placid (1999)

Cindy

The actor playing the son you thought you recognized, you saw him in Bullet Train with Brad Pitt.

AnGeLuS

And he was Kick-Ass and in Avengers: Age of Ultron. :)

Cindy

Yes, now I remember him in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now I can't forget he played Wanda's brother in that film and in Godzilla he plays her husband. Ewww! LOL!

dasgrove

Also a TV show called Monarch, connected but not needed to understand the films. Currently has 2 seasons

AnGeLuS

I’ve seen it all, and I think it’s important to watch the movies first. Not all of them, but you really should be familiar with the ones up to 2021. The Apple show is great.

AnGeLuS

Yeah, that’s exactly what goes through everyone’s mind. Especially since the movies came out so close together. Just one year apart.

Kylegriffo

I’m pretty sure Bryan Cranston had hair during breaking bad I think they put a bald cap on him

John Borek

The Maximoff twins were married!?

Tyrone Tyrone

OMG! You didn't slur Asian culture but you slurred the King of all monsters by crediting that fraud 1998 Godzilla for being the first. I tell you these young people today smh 😆

Charlie Tresadern

knowing Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen play siblings in marvel felt weird seeing them married in this lol

Bram Hènry

Great movie, and the subsequent films from 2017 onwards are a must watch, even more mega stars joining the Gojira universe, Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Ferminga, Charles Dance, and more! With Sally Hawkins and Ken Watanabe returning, these have to be a priority now guys!!
