I wonder if the BBS game that Nick was referring to was Legend of The Red Dragon? It was an ASCII Roguelike that had you do daily forest "runs" to earn gold and slowly get better weaponry and armor. It also had leaderboards (one of which was a VERY dated "hit on the barmaid" game) and various other ways to compete and interact with other players. I'm younger than Nick, but I used to play that on BBSes when I was like 7 or 8, along with a text-based MMO called MajorMUD. And you could TOTALLY chat on BBSes for sure. It was archaic, compared to now, but I remember it being vibrant for the time. As long as my mom didn't pick up the phone, I was all good.

I think this episode proves that Resident Evil Merchant has the legs to host his own show! WE NEED A "GET PLAYED" REVIEW POD WITH THE RESIDENT EVIL MERCHANT, JOEL FROM THE LAST OF US, AND BUBSY! They review past episodes of the podcast, with a "How do you like it when YOUR the ones being reviewed?!" attitude. They could even have special guests from the show, like Ranch, Ben Prunty, Duck Brigade, and ASH KETCHUM! Could be a short pod, like 10 minutes. Let them be bonus eps for the Patreon or something
