I might just return the favour by pointing out that RE4 remake is my least favourite of the resident evil remakes by far, massively inferior to the HD remaster of the original RE4 imo

I never fucked with resident evil besides 4 but since the 2 remake I’ve done 2/3/4 remake and just finished 7 and halfway through 8, 8 is by far my favorite of them all

I’ve bounced off the earlier ones and am on the final boss and 8 and it absolutely rips!

I really fell off the series after 4, the change of direction was okay but the controls were very clunky with the awful GameCube controller. Didn't ever give 5 a chance since the reliance on coop wasn't appealing at all and the talk of the racism in the game not helping either. But then Retronauts did an episode recently about RE2 and that got me to jump in and give the remake a try and ended up really enjoying it and getting the plat, then moving on to the RE3 remake too and getting the plat for that one as well before moving on to the RE4 remake and really enjoying what they did with that and the Ada DLC, don't think I'll get the plat there though, there's no way I'm getting S ranks on the shooting gallery stuff. So then I decided to go ahead and give RE5 a try, so now playing the PS4 version on a PS5 and it sure feels like a PS3 game and plays a lot like the original RE4. The coop partner stuff was way overblown in the contemporary reviews, can play the game perfectly fine without another person. But the controls are really bad, the laser sight aiming thing is really bad and I always end up aiming too far to the left. But then there's the content of the game, at first I was thinking while not great, the African setting wasn't too insensitive and kinda standard for how things were portrayed in media and entertainment of the time. Then I got to chapter 3... now I see, this is more racist than an 80s movie and its astounding that anyone at Capcom thought this was okay. It's quite shocking. Still don't know how I'll feel by the time I get to 7 and 8, really not a fan of first person games at all, just can't get into it at all and it never feels like I'm doing anything other than just moving a camera around.

really? That's an interesting take. I feel the gameplay in the original is quite clunky compared to modern games. And I really enjoyed how they redid a lot of the set pieces and made it all fit together a lot better (as the 2 and 3 remakes did). And while I was disappointed at a few of the big set pieces missing from the game, some of it did get moved and ended up in the Ada DLC which was also quite good.

I played through FF15 when it came out and got the plat, haven't touched it at all since then and couldn't even tell you anything about it. I was cautiously optimistic about FF16, but when that demo came out and the game really isn't anything more than a PlatinumGames style button mashing action game I couldn't bring myself to be anything other than massively disappointed that they would make a game like this and make it a mainline game, I guess at this point I'll just expect FF17 to be a first person shooter

I personally felt like the RE engine is poorly tuned for the gameplay of RE4, I missed the arcade feel of the original, and didn’t feel like the atmosphere worked as well as it did on the previous remakes - but that’s just me 🙏🏻
