We need to talk about how to vote | with Giordano & Ellen (Patreon)

Dear Patrons (I must think of something better than "Patrons" to address all of you legends in Season 3 - let me know if you have any suggestions)Anyway, dear Patrons - Here is the companion podcast for our latest Honest Government Ad about the impending election! It's different to our usual podcasts. Well firstly it's my first time hosting it together with Ellen, which was a lot of fun!But also, I wanted to do something different for this podcast, because I realised something...We've covered so many election issues - preferential voting, hung parliaments, minority governments, etc - all of which are important things for people to know and understand. But reading emails from people who've watched our HGAs, made me realised that there's still a LOT of folks who struggle with the very basics of how to vote. And so as people start to vote (prepolling opened today), I thought the most helpful thing we could do with this episode of the podcast would be to help address some of the questions we've received, and help people understand the basics of how to vote.So if you know anyone who needs it, please pass this on to them!I also wanted to use this podcast to answer questions from people who want to make their vote count for real climate action at this election. Thankfully, Climate Analytics published this analys just last week. It was just what I needed to help me scientifically define the terms we've often used in our HGAs: the Shit Party, Shit-Lite Party and the Not-Shit candidates on climate.Of course, having explained how to vote, and who is not-shit on climate, I thought we'd take things to their logical conclusion and explain how to get those not-shit candidates elected using preferential voting. So by the end of this 10-minute video, we hopefully bring people up to speed with the more complex concepts we've covered in our HGAs.It was fun making this "explainer" type of podcast for a change. So let me know if you enjoyed it - in which case, we might make more.Take care!GiordanoDirect link to videoDirect link to podcast
