Dear Patrons

There's just under 1 week to go before the election.

But that doesn't mean I've been sitting on my arse. Nope, we've made one more HGA - a sneaky bonus episode to round off Season 2.

Something to capture this government's desperation as it faces the electorate after  three years of unbridled Scottfuckery. And more importantly, to remind  folks to hold the line and keep up the pressure during this final week - which is when it could literally go either way.

Thank you for the feedback on the preview - and for the suggestion of letting Juno do the authorised by message for this one, which I took up!

ONE WEEK! (I can't believe it)

We've been covering this Government for three years - six if you count the previous term. And we've been covering election in one shape or another since the end of last year.

Starting with our Hung Parliament HGA which will has received over 1M views across our pages. And which - together with our older HGA on Preferential Voting (which itself has received about 4M views across our pages!) - has hopefully helped many people to better understand our electoral system.

We also made sure not to forget about giving Clive Palmer the HGA treatment, so we made an episode about the United Australia Party. We rounded off our coverage of this Government's "climate policy" with an HGA on carbon credits and offsets (which will continue to be relevant under a potential Labor government); and of course The Floods.

And then we dropped an epic double-length retrospective HGA on the past three years of Coalition Government to top it all off with our Season 2 finale.

We produced several podcasts featuring conversations with experts - from Simon Holmes à Court on the independents movement, to Sue Higginson, Peter Kalmus & Ella Gilbert, and Polly Hemming on climate law, science and policy - respectively.

And Ellen and I then made a How To Vote video to help people who might still be confused about how our voting system works, and how to make their vote count for climate at this election.

I don't know what the outcome of this election will be. But I know that we all worked incredibly hard to cover as many bases as we could, in order to help people access essential information so that they can make better informed choices at this election.

I want to thank Lucy for her incredible patience and hard work while I've spent hours at the computer these past few months (she's looking forward to me taking a break soon!), as well as to our brilliant actors Ellen and Zoe - with an extra special mention for Ellen who has been tirelessly helping me by editing the podcasts.

And of course, we could not have done ANY of this without you - our Patrons. So, thank you for all the support you've given us - big or small - to get us to this point where we can have a meaningful impact.

That's all from me for now until election day. Please take care and I'll catch you on the other side of this election.

With love and gratitude

Giordano, and the Juice family and team

poorfellamycountry .

It's a debate on texture and smell, there's no argument they're shit anymore.

A fitting end to the season, nicely sums up the desperation that's oozing out of this compost heap. Sweet 'Authorised by..' line too, props to Hamish :)

Love your work Giordano and everyone in the HGA team! ❤️❤️❤️

Hamish Fawns

Haha, thanks Giordarno, you're a legend!

Jarrod Mast

Oh yes, I'm using that in general conversation this week!

Your entire team are such heroes to me! In a world where basic human decency, honesty, integrity, and compassion are drying up like a climate change drought, you help remind me that there are some people on this planet who still epitomize and cherish such values. I just wish we didn't live on opposite sides of the globe, for I would love to be your neighbor, friend, colleague. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for the election results!

John L Smith

Laughed out loud at the authorised by! Congratulations team. Well done!

Hey Juice! I love how you hold government to account, but did you see this weekend’s article in the NYTIMES about the dramatic, stunning success of Australia’s pandemic response, especially when compared to the abject failures in the US? While you specialize in highlighting shitfuckery, Australia’s world-leading success deserves to be celebrated across the planet and aggressively thrust out to all as an example of what’s possible when good people work together toward a common goal. Who better to do that than you?

thejuicemedia

Aww thank you for the beautiful message Mark 🙏 We might be far apart but we’re friends, neighbours and colleagues at heart 💛

Being a huge island that locked down its international border and a federation of states that locked one another out and having a small population assisted enormously. We also locked out our nationals living abroad. Australians were very compliant regarding restrictions and although our PM is somewhat a Trump wannabe, we didn’t have Trump! Of course the PM is now claiming all the pandemic success credit. As opposed to the science of climate change, the government was prepared to defer mostly to pandemic science.

Richard Barnes

We were lucky, we are a big island, we had some excellent state government responses. But our national government did very little to help. And now, as there has been utter silence about COVID during our election campaign, and virtually all restrictions have been lifted, we are running at 2000 new cases per million population per day - the highest in the world!!!

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to the Juice Media for your creativity, gumption, sarcasm and wit and factual scientific underpinnings of your creations. At this point in the election cycle though i want you to factor in decompression time for the insanely intense next few days and look after yourselves. I will be here in NY chewing my nails in the corner interspersed with a few primal screams and a touch of Cab Sav hoping reality and common sense prevail But we have been here before hey? lol there is so much going on right now, elections, Assange's extradition decision tomorrow and of course the pandemic and war in Ukraine - just wanted you all to know you keep us peace loving truth warriors sane. Much love and hugs from me.

This afternoon I am seeing a lot of articles on Google News this afternoon saying things like: " 'I can't believe I can't vote' COVID-positive Aussies locked out of election" (SMH) "Voting rules leave some with COVID unable to participate in federal election" (Canberra Times) "What fine do you get if you don't vote?" (news dot con... not the parody page) Suspicious?

thejuicemedia

Dear Wendy, thank you so much for this message. I only just saw it now because I had been taking your advice and trying to do a bit of decompression before election day by spending time with the kids. This week is such a weird time - there's so much at stake, we've worked so incredibly hard - literally the past four months have been non-stop. So it realy means a lot to me to read this thoughtfull message. And I'll make sure pass it on to the team too. GX

We’ve got to fight the antivaxxer idiots & promote masks! Victoria is in danger of losing its ALP government. I’m scared the old white guys - stale pale males - will get back in, or any other right wingers.
