Dear Patrons

Wowee interesting past few days ehIf you're looking for something else to get excited about, here's the preview of our new Honest Government Ad!This HGA is a bit different to our usual ones. Instead of focusing on a specific policy, country or issue, it aims to distill the political dilemma facing our Labor Government - caught as it is between the promises it made to be ShitLite at the last election (stage 3 tax cuts, no reforms to tax loopholes on housing; no taxing of gas windfall profits; weaker emission target; more coal and gas, etc etc.) and the pressure it is under from voters - especially new, young voters - to be Less Shit and take stronger action on the housing and climate crises.

I've evidently become a massive political nerd because I find this tension incredibly interesting. But the reason I find it interesting is that I think it will be the defining political dynamic that takes us into the next election. Which (reminder) absolutely has to lead to much greater action on the climate and housing crises. As always, you're the first to hear it, so any feedback you might leave for me in the comments is very interesting to me! And if you have any good suggestions for the Authorised By message please let me know in the comments, too.PS. Patreon now allows us to upload videos directly to the platform. So I thought I'd share the audio preview as a video with a static screenshot from the HGA. In future I might add a few more screenshots to previews, but for now it's just one to give you a little taste of what's in it.Ok, back to editing - I'll catch you very soon with the final video!Giordano

Any chance you could do some satire on that ridiculous stadium/AFL deal the Tasmanian govt did? We lost 31+ psych beds when the private hospital closed in Hobart (I guess profit is more important than patients to Healthscope who ran the hospital) The Psychs who had offices there closed up or moved interstate. Now the govt has reneged on upgrading the old Rehab hospital and has proposed a small, maybe 5 bed clinic, in a northern Hobart suburb, actually gone backwards on beds, despite never having enough. I can't get any Psychiatrist to see me despite my GP writing many referrals, but heh, I guess if it gets too bad I can jump off the roof of "Rockliff's Folly" (my name for that stadium. Last budget warned of hard times ahead, not enough money to pay for what's needed (health, housing, transport, education) but 3/4 of a billion for a bloody sports field.

DrWex

"Brought to you by 2D chess players everywhere" ?

Martin Linger

Funnily enough, only yesterday did I have a discussion with my mum about Germany's shit lite government 🤔

thejuicemedia

Hi Jim, i'm sorry to hear about the difficulty you're having. We mentioned Rockliff's Folly (great name!) in our RBA video last month - but thank you for reminding me, I've included an image of the stadium in this HGA too

John L Smith

Thanks Giordano, very neat explanation of where we are at. I can envisage a lot of independents and greens running against this shit-lite government at the next election. I seem to recall the current govt supporters before the last election saying "just wait till we get in, then we'll fix it" but that was a lie. Trouble is, much of the electorate are so pleased that it is not the shit party that they've stopped paying attention, and now the shit lite party is getting away with tons of shit!!

Philip Rhoades

So funny! So clever! - except that the stakes are so nightmarish . . but I did laugh out loud the whole way through . . WRT the Shit Lite Party I am reminded of: "But now it's just another show You leave 'em laughing when you go And if you care, don't let them know Don't give yourself away" (Laughing all the way to The Apolalypse). [Apologies to Joni].

Alan Marel

Good shit Giordano ( as usual). What about: “ Brought to you by the fossil fuel industry. Different government, same shit ( but lighter)”.

thejuicemedia

That's the thing, the last government was so shit that even shit-lite feels like a great improvement! Thanks John

thejuicemedia

am not sure if you're talking about the government or the preview!

thejuicemedia

lol I tried to make this one as hopeful and positive as i could! Thanks Philip :)

Lewis Emmett

"Brought to you by the party that are slightly less fascist/genocidal than the previous lot"

Mark D Larsen

Typical. The world over. Campaign rhetoric and promises somehow evaporate, thanks to corporate mammon lining pockets. I know I'm growing too cynical, but it is extremely rare that a mandate from the majority can overrule millions in donations.

Lewis Emmett

Wait I remembered more people have died from Covid while Labor's been in power than during the Coalition's term

Mark Hormann

That's 'good shit' as always guys & girls... I look forward to seeing the matching video!

Jay Wilson

brilliant as usual... my only suggestion would be to work in the idiotic decision to spend (??? how much) on those nuclear submarines. "Gosh, if the shit-lite Govt gave up that pipedream they might be able to raise job assistance to the peasants, I mean citizens, by (bangs on the calculator)... at least one vanilla slice and an iced Voco a week." (my lame attempt at scripting humor). Cheers Giordano & team!

Dan Stefanich

Kinda hard to keep an eye on the various and ever-changing shits. But that's why we need Juice Media! Looking forward to the video.

Dave Borlace

Great preview. Looking forward to the video 😁

Jason Orcamoon

Authorized by the Department of Mushroom Farmers, our job is to keep you in the dark and pile on the SHIT! At least you have the chance of a minority, coalition government. Over here in the USA third parties act as spoilers while creating the illusion that there is a possibility of one being successful. The latest iteration is the No Labels party; supposedly going to come up with a split ticket: President from Shit or Shit Lite party, VP from the opposite party. Problem is it is looking more and more that this effort is being funded and run by MAGIDIOTS. What could their goal be? Four more years of Orange Jesus in 2025? The world should cringe at that possibility. https://open.substack.com/pub/steveschmidt/p/what-is-no-labels-doing?r=5k7fz&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email Great work Giordano and team! PS: A friend asked me why the public will end up picking up the cost of trying to rescue the Titan pilot and passengers. Answer is the Shit Party answer: privatize profits, socialize losses!

Ian Ossher

I find that between the shit, the shit-lite and the not shit-lite, I'm left with the distinct feeling that the underlying messages of why the government is at best shit-lite and at worst still just shit (and no, no great improvement in reality) are lost in all the shit.

Andrea Coffey

Just plain old 'shit' behind the hoardings of the "Shit lite" Potemkin village.

Phil Farrelly

Aukus put a rope around their neck before they started.. and clearly indicated their reluctance to change the status quo..but where do you go a green's vote is just a vote for Labor and they know that.

thejuicemedia

thanks Jay, I've included a visual for the subs!

thejuicemedia

It will hopefully make more sense with the visuals, thanks Dan!

thejuicemedia

Thanks Jason - i do like the Dept of Mushroom Farmers! Will keep it up my sleeve if that's okay!

thejuicemedia

Fair enough Ian, it should make a bit more sense once the visuals are there! Thanks :)

thejuicemedia

Thanks Mark, not long to go now just doing finishing touches

Bunga

Brought to you by the 2 party system that looks after the wealthy and blatantly ignores representing those who have elected them.

Spadge

Interesting to see how this is a scarily similar shit situation, to us here across the ditch. Keep up the good work!

Brozza

Looking forward to the video version. After the shitfuckery of the subs fiasco, I'm nearly at the stage where I'll just not vote anymore. I only voted shit-lite last time to get rid of the rank stench from shit-fulov.

Luke Holdsworth

Thinking about that request to "give us permission to not be shit" line. So how about: "Authorized by the department of 'please, pretty please'"?

thejuicemedia

Thanks Luke, I went with something along those lines but a bit more introspective! :)

Ellejoy W

Approx 15% of green voters give libs (or a more right wing shitfucked party a higher pref than Labor). I haven't... yet ... but i have met someone who did and we talked about why. I'm happy to put forward the general talking points we went through if it interests you.
