I hope they (basically everybody in this comic) reads some poly literature. Even something like the venerable ’Ethical Slut’ would be useful. For me the most important thing in them is the importance of communication. Of course, they are mostly first-year students with a lot of hang-ups, and the comic is *called* ’Dumbing of Age’, and it creates more drama if people don’t talk with each other, but sometimes I just want to scream to the children that they could talk more! (Also the U of Bloomington was recently on the news and that did not look good. Damn.)

I’m actually kind of really bothered by this analysis? It feels like well-intentioned bi erasure? :/ Like…we’ve seen comphet beard-type stuff in DoA (Leslie talking about her marriage, Jennifer’s entire transactional-style sexual career) and it is…*not* how Dorothy is. Dorothy has had at least two mutually fulfilling sexual and romantic relationships with men! She confesses romantic love for Walky and it’s a major plot point! The fact that she is currently inhaling the fumes of that love to cope with sapphic longing is not evidence she was just “playing the field” until she could settle into a real gay relationship! Like, I love Joyce/Dorothy yuri too, folks, but goddamn!
