Girlycore

I lovelovelove these two together

Ragtime

Is that supposed to read as "at least prove"?

C

Sexy Lesbian Emotional Support Pact seems much healthier a route (if you'll forgive the reference to an older strip).

Andrea Andrew

Aww. That’s so touching. It also shows a deep understanding of Joyce, and I think Ruth and Joyce will bond over how they will never truly give up on Bi-I mean BJ.

Harold

Wow. Just, wow. Not much more to be said here.

Andrea Andrew

Is the oily pillow Ruth’s cat?

Ragtime

Damn that was a fast edit Willis

Harold

...and now it does. That was a fast correction.

Dan Rabin

Wow. Jennifer decides against total combustion, and rotates 180° away from tear-donation position. The camera sees Jennifer from Ruth's position, but Ruth is now seen from the level of her head, unlike the previous strip's angle from Jennifer's position. The absence of panel borders suggests this is a Ruth strip—she articulates that she will never give up on Jennifer—but there is a lot of Joyce's loyalty in it. Joyce *affects* people. We now know from the flashback that the achievements Jennifer cites from her cheerleader days were mostly undertaken in devotion to Alice, but the reason she wants the friendship back is not yet in sharp focus for me. We also know that Alice turned to look back at Jennifer departing after the encounter in the Forest cafeteria, but I don't think we've yet seen Alice's feelings in full.

Bagge

Ruth is a romantic.

C.T. Phipps

It's kind of funny that the love and affection Jennifer doesn't trust is Joyce. Probably Walky too.

Taffy

Please let them at least be friends now.

Luin

50/50 odds on jennifer lashing out

Sajuuk-Khar

Ruth you got a big heart you hide deep

Kai

Ruth looks like she's sitting, so I think that's why her angle changed.

Rainfall

I mean I think what you've just said is the truth: she doesn't trust love from people who unconditionally and obviously love her. And why would she? Her parents taught her that that kind of love is fairy-tale stuff.

Andrea Andrew

Billie’s a nicer Azula, who may also be redeemable.

Pangab

I didn’t read this as her not trusting Joyce’s love as much as not believing she deserves it. Whether she trusts Ruth’s affection here is what will be interesting

Dan Rabin

Kai: that makes sense. I should resume taking my overthinking meds :-).
