I find it most impressive that Dorothy is keeping her remarks within her ethical boundaries by following up Joyce's remark with a prompt concerning Joyce's desires rather than by revealing her own. She is serving her own romantic interest by *not* responding to to Joyce's "if only" either by denying the possibility or by revealing the possibility. This is great writing. Note about Joe: I think he has factored in some of the possibilities. He has noted noticed Joyce's association of sexual pleasure with Dorothy's companionship, and he has solicited Dorothy's point of view as well.

I'm wondering how long Joyce has (consciously) felt this way. She has seemingly moved past gay panic into open revelation of her feelings, which is incredible for her given what we know and the fact she doesn't have that much to go on regarding Dorothy's current feelings. Maybe Dorothy supersedes all of that and it's just completely natural to Joyce.

I really want to believe that Joyce and Dorothy have the integrity to not just blatantly cheat on their respective partners. But... I don't quite believe that. Joyce is really inexperienced with dating norms and has also just overhauled her entire moral compass in the past few months. Dorothy has similarly overhauled her life goals and some of the values wrapped up in them, and she crossed the line with Joyce before she understood what she was doing. I think Dorothy respects Joyce and Joe's relationship enough not to initiate, but if Joyce initiates, all bets are off.

To everyone asking Willis "Please don’t make them cheat on their boyfriends:" Willis has made quite clear in the past that he personally loathes infidelity, I believe specifically in context of his regrets over how he wrote Sal and Danny's storylines in "It's Walky!" He also had Danny emphasize during this very storyline how cheating isn't a sexuality thing, but a bad ethical choice thing. He's not going to have Joyce and Dorothy do this. I think.

I have no doubt that Dorothy is considering Becky's reaction as a factor in all this. She's shown, repeatedly, that she cares deeply about Becky and her feelings (not just the conversation about why Dorothy decided not to transfer to Yale, but things like being the only person at the birthday party for Becky's mom to actually *talk to her about her mom*); let's also not forget Dorothy's brief terror (just prior to the Yale discussion) when she thought Becky somehow knew about the laundry lessons.

See the thing with that, is that this is forgetting the whole situation that made Dorothy realize she is into Joyce, which is Joe himself. Based on his general attitude towards it, and like not even getting mad at her for sending tits pics to his girlfriend, even like comforts her about it, I really feel at-least with joe, things will be alright, messy but alright. I’m not sure if they go anywhere Joyce would think of it as cheating, as Jennifer said herself “best friends can make out, like a little bit and still be regular best friends” she would probably just think this is just what bffs do.

I mean, there is a distinct possibility Joe gave Joyce his blessing on this. Maybe not having expressly told Joyce Dorothy's secret, but a "If you ever find yourself crushing on Dorothy, you can date her" and Joyce laughs it off as teasing in the moment (because people have teased her about the idea), only to realize in this moment "...Oh shit." As for Walky...Walky would probably take the win for having called it, lol.

Joe I feel though in private might spiral a little. In the sense of ‘I deserve this’ because his sense of forgiving himself has partly been because of Joyce. If someone like her can be convinced that a relationship with him isn’t worth being loyal (I know it’s more complex than that), he may view himself even more as a “lesser”. Walky, I’m not sure he will take it as well.

You know, now that I think about it longer, this whole scene is kind of from Dorothy's perspective, so maybe the music is just reflecting Dorothy's internal monologue and isn't actually a literal reflection of what's happening.

I feel like even if Joyce has a lot to think about re: Dorothy Things, she's still in love with Joe enough to want to get those BTE tickets punched tonight. (edit: especially since she was the one who scheduled the ride!) Then again, a few weeks ago I also hadn't considered this entire story thread of Joyce taking Dorothy into her room for hanky-panky shit, so my predictive skills are no match for this comic's wild twists and turns, lol.

The problem is jennifer has this "its not a real relationship if its two girl" narrative I could see everyone in cannon being okay with it. The fact is would joe be okay with joyce getting with another guy. Would Walky? There is a narrative in media that girls cheating with other girls is not serious. Not to mention the cheating bisexual trope. I feel like there will be fans accusing Willis of perpetuating these tropes if joyce and dorothy kiss and if everyone is cool with it. I think those fans would be wrong but I have seen fans attack creators for way less. I have faith in him but this whole thing needs to be handled really carefully.
