Not really an unused/rejected strip. It's all basically the same as published! It's just.... as my buffer gets longer and longer, suddenly now I'm realizing I'm publishing year-old art. Art I drew a long long time ago that SUCKS NOW.

And so sometimes the day before publishing, I'll just redraw a Dorothy here and there, you know, to stave off the demons:

Also, a thing that I notice when I flip through comics in my hard drive's directory, is that, you know, sometimes the sizes of characters on the bed might shift a bit too much, strip to strip, so also I kind of embiggened Joyce and Dorothy a tiny bit to keep their sizes consistent. This also makes the bed a little more cramped, which, you know, is kind of a narrative plus here.

I don't tend to save the early versions of simple art massaging, but I did in this case, so I decided to share.

The bed being a tad more cramped definitely works for the mood.

Panel 1 Dorothy looks much more appropriately fraught in the final version.

Noticing little adjustments in the way Dorothy's dialogue is presented, as well: *Reducing the font size for the first "I'd..." and "Look" in panel 2, to emphasize the nervous fluctuations in Dorothy's voice; *Bolding the two "what" 's in the same panel; *And (most significantly) adding that ellipse to "Everything... will be fine" in panel 4, as Dorothy tries to convince *herself* as much as Joyce that everything will, in fact, be fine.

Final version panel 1 is genuinely heartbreaking <3

Dorothy went from mildly concerned to looking like the world is gonna end. I'm assuming that's what you wanted, so count yourself successful.

Things I would not have noticed until the professional pointed them out to me.
