All of a sudden P!ATD come out and start singing "this is gospel." When Brendon gets to the chorus, someone else starts singing... "When I was a young boy my father took me into the city to see a marching band." Lights flash everywhere, and you see FOB singing "this is gospel" along with P!ATD, while MCR is singing "Black parade". Everyone in the crowd is going wild and crying. Then if things couldn't get any better, Dan and Phil walk onto stage and kiss, holding the gay flag.

The whole book of ruth thing spelt out so much with Dorothy and Joyce's arc. Regardless of whether or not these two are good for each other, Joyce WILL always be there for Dorothy. A part of why i like these two being together is specifically because they are moderately dysfunctional in a way that isn't doomed but rather they can grow and learn from. This is after all a story that is at it's core about making mistakes repeatedly and learning from them. Of all the pairings, i want to see these two be stupid together the most.

I feel like its not entirely fair to say it's entirely symbolic. She's definitely using this as an outlet to self-destruct but I don't think she'd be doing this if it wasn't over a subject she actually cared about. If this wasn't her intentionally doing Joyce-esque impulsive choice, she'd probably have done reading on what exactly's going on in Bulmeria and what you should or shouldn't do in these protest situations. (but, y'know, crashout's gonna crashout)

@Rob McBobson: P is simply pointing out that the characters are focused on their own personal problems rather than the substantive world issues (and the people being affected) that are being protested. There is no such country as "Bulmeria" in the real world, of course, but P is stating that too many young Americans *in* the real world are doing exactly what the strip's characters are doing.
