And so begins the era of Joyce and Dorothy only speaking in shared speech balloons! Joyce and Dorothy's smiles get slightly bigger between panels 2 and 4, once Asma has looked up and scowled at them. Asma's eyebrows dance from absorbed-in-book neutral through two asymmetrical dispositions to fully-lowered glare. With forefinger gesture and head tilt conveying her hostile attitude. Whatever this is, it's not an apology. The reverse angles remind us that Read residents most interact standing with Asma seated. Joyce and Dorothy's faces are larger on the screen, which can't happen if the camera moves to each party's head position alternately without changing focal length. On the other hand, if Willis had kept the same focal length, other things about the framing would have been awkward. Joyce and Dorothy are taken aback at Asma's interpretation of their intent, but they *did* visit with [top items in laundry bag] in full view

Okay, I actually love that they went to check on Asma (even if they are giving off the wrong vibe). Asma is clearly shaken after yesterday. She tried reaching out to Alice (and was seemingly not heard/ignored). Raidah cared more about hating Joyce than even ASKING how Raidah was doing. Only Dorothy and Joyce thought "we should check on Asma, the person who was there with us and helped us escape." They are fundamentally good people who care about others (despite what some people think). HOPEFULLY they don't fully stick their collective foot in their mouths and make checking on Asma about THEM in the next strip.

I'm dubious on the odds of avoiding a foot-in-mouth scenario...Mostly because Dorothy just previously said in the last strip, 'Let's talk to Asma about OUR behavior.' Soooo... I dunno, maybe Joyce's uncanny ability to break the narrative fourth-wall during post-nut clarity turned that ship around...but I don't feel like they're currently giving off 'We're definitely not going to make this about us' vibes. But hey, definitely agree they're fundamentally good people who care about others - they're just kinda stringing along a temporary series of critical failures in that department lol. Sometimes it be like that.

If she speaks in her 31st appearance she will have spoken in more than half her main strip appearances for the first time since Functional (9:3, 2019-03-27) brought her down from 53.33% to 50.00%. She had previously been over 50% speaking strips five times, the following appearance bringing her to ≤50.00% every time. Of her 14 speaking main strip appearances, this is the joint 7th wordiest with 12 words, tied with Man-someone (8:2) and Socks (9:3). A side order of Agatha stats inspired by my Asma observations: Agatha has never been at 50% speaking appearances. She didn't speak until her tenth appearance, and has thus far capped out at 45.71% from the publication of "Considering" until "Off limits" (both 7:1, only one strip between them with no Agatha). If she speaks in her next appearance, it will be a new record for her, but it would take 6 consecutive speaking appearances for her to reach 50% without reducing her percentage on the way.
