I'm surprised anyone here still dares to claim there are any "endgame" ships in this anymore. Last year people would have thought Joyce x Joe was going to be end game yet here we are, more than a decade ago people would have thought Amber x Danny would have been endgame, hell I thought Becky x Dina were going to last long enough to see the wedding day...but now they're on the rocks so who knows.

Visual details: Amber puts on her astigmatism-correcting glasses to read the screen; the camera tightens in on her face as she lifts the phone over her face (setting up the punch); Walky is seen from further out to show the phone at his waist, but not so far out that we can't see the surprise register in his eyes in the last panel. As self-appointed forefinger-caller-outer, I note that Amber texts with her forefinger rather than her thumbs in panel 4. Joyce forefingered in yesterday's strip.

So when is Sal going to check on Amber? I would think she would be more concerned than anyone, particularly since she knows exactly now bad Amber was injured. Also, I think Law Enforcement would be profoundly freaked out that a honest-to-God superhero (more or less) beat up a bunch of officers. The University and the national media would be, uh, interested as well… But everyone seems to be focused on Joyce/Dorothy. But they haven’t been approached by a single podcast, much less MSNBC, CBS, CNN, FOX, etc.

Admittedly, a major part of why i never felt SUPER bad about Walky's position in all of this was because he always had Amber around as a rebound. I don't think Dorothy would be terribly upset by this turn of events either considering the two seemed to be en-route to getting back together before she swiped him again. I promised a bit of a Walky post didn't i? I've said in the past that on some level i still ship Joyce and Walky which is probably a shocking thing to say and will warrant several followup questions, but there have always been a lot of caveats to that. I think both of them do have feelings for each other but they're personalities actively repulse each other. Back in the It's Walky! days Walky was a pretty different character, it wasn't until parts of late IW! And Joyce and Walky that he really became the character he is. He was mostly just immature and a bit of a bonehead sometimes but he wasn't a smartass. Joyce was also, a pretty different character in IW! Due to being mindwiped she had no real memories of her christian upbringing except the deep internalized (and thus worst) stuff. By the time their personalities got to develop into closer to what they are now, they inevitably began to fight. Joyce's christian beliefs clashed with Walky a few times and during one really nasty incident caused them to nearly breakup and Walky's growing smartass tendencies only really seemed to piss Joyce off. That's the form of the relationship that got kicked off in DOA. I think ultimately what put the final nail in the coffin for the relationship was ultimately the fact that there's just not really any reason to have the two of them together. Sure they're into each other, sure they'll deny it but there are also way better relationships to explore like Walky and Amber and the current headlining couple with Joyce and Dorothy. I wouldn't bet on them getting together unless we were somehow REALLY at the endgame of DOA. I've called it an endgame ship before in the sense that it's a ship that can only really come to pass if literally every other ship in the comic has run it's course and met its grizzly end... Or the fuckpile comes to fruition. I feel a LITTLE BIT ashamed that i promised a Walky post and ended up making a Joyce and Walky post instead but there isn't as much for me to say about where Walky currently is other than i have good faith in his continued growth and believe that current things despite being pretty tough are ultimately for the best. Even as someone who will defend a lot of what Dorothy's done recently what she did to him was pretty shitty and he's been the most directly fucked over so far. Joe still has a chance at a polycule but also played a part in all of this and Becky imploding in on herself is more like a natural disaster that was set off chain reaction style by Joyce and Dorothy getting together in a fashion that can also only be described as a natural disaster. This post has gone on too long!!! My mind has wandered, this is as far as i go! One thing does need to be corrected though. I do not ship Joyce and Walky. I ship Joyce and Walkie.

Remember Sal was up most of the night getting Amazi-Girl medical attention and they only got back to the dorm around dawn. I wouldn't be surprised if Sal is still crashed out. Even if she's not, she may not feel the need to check on Amber yet.

I think what has come to bother me a lot is more that a lot of takes just kinda write him off as Walky will be okay, or that he will have Amber. Even the whole revolving suspicion -focus that the ultimate answer/journey is a Joyce-Dorothy-Joe polycule (and I’m not saying I’m against it) feels like “Not Walky though, he can go be with Amber or something 💅🏻” kind of irks me but I’m not going to reopen feelings I’ve had after seeing folks react to Asma or Sara. I’m sure things will work out for the best for him and that he will grow. I’d even believe that he and Joyce might have some end game ship by senior year where they’ve both grown and realize, “hey this is nice, being around you”. I dunno. I hate the idea of just pairing Amber and Walky and calling it a day not because they don’t work but—they both very obviously need growth and I don’t think either of them will find it in each other. Booster has said they’re the correct amount of trash/worth together…And that’s, not great? Edit: ALSO fuck it we ball, I’m calling it now…! … ***Booster & Amber will end up together sooner or later—either confirming Walky’s fears that people fuck their feelings through him or just end up with their better matches after they’re done with him.***

unfortunately this just like, baseline nerd stuff for me. i’ve also got a spreadsheet for all the pantone colors that’re used on every thomas train… (which is frustratingly incomplete bc theres a lot of assets without publicly available style guide pages)

the benefit of keeping tabs on things like this is that i can just easily search up a character’s exact image color if i ever want to say, make art of the characters in a limited color format. as i have done in the past as a variant for certain pieces of Joyrothy art.

Were it not for the recovering gut wound I think there’s a very strong chance Amber would have let him come over (and cum on her ✋🏼). So the track record of these characters mourning a relationship for all of two seconds before getting into the next one would have stayed strong.
