Grace Serenity

Damn, Ruth really did call it the first week, didn't she?

Railway Series Book Club

so does sarah just have nothing to say re: dorothy crashing in their room longterm while becky is on suicide watch or is that shoe supposed to drop tomorrow when dorothy has to contain her overwhelming desire to deshirt joyce

Maybeeus

Yup gonna need that last panel in HD when the strip goes live tomorrow. Love how this is a callback to god knows what book and Joyce was SPECIFICALLY baiting for that reply. She can read her like a book lmao

KittyKai

AND THUS A SECOND SLIPSHINE IS BORN 😈😈😈

C

Joyce's evolution has reached the Ultimate Form. Dorothy's in for a wild ride.

AE Gonzalez

You’re gonna need to be more specific.

Tom @ Magic Chopstick Games

Pretty sure Sarah is currently repeating “sleep good” sotto voce while staring past the wall and rocking gently back and forth

Grace Serenity

Joyce getting laid and then being an insatiable lust monster

Logibear

She knew what she signed up for... and if she didn't she can always tag in Joe.

Harold

Missing final panel: A flung book accidentally hits Sarah in the face

Empress of Robots

Dorothy’s gonna need a spray bottle to keep that feral Joyce from jumping her all the time

Astariel

My guess would be that Sarah has not been informed about either Becky's state of mind or that Dorothy is planning to stay multiple nights.

Logibear

The Joyce Face in the last panel is the most troubling thing I have ever seen. Like a thin veneer masking an eldritch monstrosity that has just been waiting to run rampant over a poor unsuspecting soul... Dorothy, run while there is still time. Run while you still have control of your legs.

Logibear

Dorothy - "I volunteer as tribute"

Ragtime

Now it has been a whole day since Joyce left Joe in limbo, I don't like Joe but c'mon Joyce.

Logibear

... Next strip is just going to be Joe crying in bed isn't it...

Astariel

Joyce is an adorable goon, and I love her face in the last panel. I also like Dorothy's booklight. I used to have one of those.

William Lewis

D'awww... I love that line, Joyce.

Fart Captor

SHE HAS HAD IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO

Dan Rabin

Watch Joyce's hands: silently expectant, then touching forefingers as she resorts to verbiage with a big smile.

GundamBradley

Joyce's tunnel vision is such that she probably hasn't thought of anyone outside of Dorothy if they weren't in her immediate view in a bit now.

Ragtime

As important as Dorothy is Joyce can find 20 minutes.

Empress of Robots

Tomorrow on Slipshine: That's not a sleep shirt!

Waifu Purplebutt

Two wolves inside her - one of them is horny, the other is Dorothy (also horny)

MrShoggoth

I can’t help but feel like this is still the calm before the proverbial storm.

C.T. Phipps

I like Joyce and Dorothy but really am waiting for the horrible drama I want from misunderstandings and ticking time bombs of problems.

Sajuuk-Khar

ZOUNDS, that girl is hornt

Crunchos cereal

So, what's the etiquette in the dorm rooms during the night for sex? I understand the sock on the knob during the day to communicate the need for privacy, and there are occasions of sexile seen on the comic even during the night, but I think doing that to Sarah now would be somewhat bad behaviour. Not that they wouldn't do that anyway. Also having sex with somebody not part of it in the room would not be nice, I think.

Tessea

Dammit. She forgot about Joe. I'm not huge on Joe, but as Sarah said, he didn't deserve to be simply cast aside. Also, Sarah's right there you horny dork!

Syl

it took me until now to realize that Dorothy basically U-Hauled

Smoochie

Unfortunately for Joe, his dick and the weighted blanket he gifted, lack object permeance where Dorothy is concerned

Smoochie

The prophecy won’t be fully fulfilled unless Dorothy and Joyce happen to go on a break or temporary break up I suspect

Sajuuk-Khar

Dorothy is Joyce’s current hyperfixation

Sajuuk-Khar

Ruth called the lust monstrosity writhing within first, actually

The Lurker

Joyce seems thirsty...

Inquiring Raven

Joyce: “I’ve tasted blood and I want more” Greek Chorus: “more more more”

Shane Wegner

This frees him up to find someone with a better attention span.

Sumit

"Joyce horny, Michael"

Harold

@Seth Aaron Hershman: Joyce: "Guess I've just got that dog in me" Dorothy: "Hi, I'm that dog"

Empress of Robots

Two wolves inside Joyce: both want to fuck Dorothy

tifani

Yeah the fact that she’s going to bed not having talked to Joe this whole day, seemingly not even thinking about him: Jesus fucking Christ Joyce. I mean I honestly genuinely do not think she means to be acting like this. It would be different if I thought she didn’t still care about him and she was uninterested in polyamory. But I don’t think that. I think Joyce is avoiding Joe on purpose because she’s not ready for the consequences that talk will bring. She doesn’t want to actually break up with him. She also doesn’t want to have to tell Dorothy she doesn’t want to break up with him. She is doing the same thing she’s been doing all weekend which is avoiding consequences as much as possible. But it’s Sunday night now. Consequences are coming. And she might have just destroyed a relationship with someone she cared about. Multiple relationships. One she’s not even in!

Is anyone else watching Pluribus? Episode three just dropped, and the opening scene with Helen and Carol in the Norwegian ice hotel *really* made me think of what Dorothy and Joyce's dynamic could be like in year 12 or so [1] [2]. Curious if anyone else has seen it. ____ [1] - Very cute, but also ( Carol | Joyce ) is kind of obsessed with how well her book is doing in a way that makes it hard for her to enjoy being inside an actual work of art. Meanwhile, ( Helen | Dorothy ) has already covered down on and memorized all the pertinent details and is just trying to enjoy being where they are and having some time to themselves away from work, and ( Carol | Joyce )'s more intrusive fans. I could see Joyce falling into being an author through her comics (and probably also a line or two of books made for kids, since elementary education is her current major). Dorothy going the full-time artist support route and being a lot more chill about it once the pressure of international politics is no longer her concern, but still precise and measured enough to keep a lot of stuff in her head so Joyce doesn't have to also makes sense. I could also see the both of them popping smoke and heading for a fresh start somewhere way off the map like Albuquerque, someday, especially after what Raidah said. [2] - As for whether Joyce would take well to being one of the few people on earth that wasn't subsumed into a hive intelligence (especially one that couldn't keep Dorothy from dying during the transition)? Unclear. I suspect she would mind much less if Dorothy made it through transition intact, tho. That would probably feel a lot like just...being with Dorothy, to her, I imagine.

5099 5618 v2.0

(/Joyce, after physically stealing Dorothy away from Walky): "Don't be upset. It was a mercy killing. He had a certain naieve charm, but no muscle." Dorothy: (/flexes) J: (/BIG GASP) (/HORNT)

5099 5618 v2.0

@Syl Cannon Event. We cannot interfere.

5099 5618 v2.0

@Smoochie That's not insurmountable, tho it will require action to be taken to set things right and establish a rhythm that works for all involved

tifani

And to be clear I have no interest in debating if Joyce is morally obligated to feel any type of way about this in the abstract. She promised to talk soon. She broke that promise. This was not the kind of talk that should be required to make the other person wait more than a couple of hours AT MOST. And when I say couple I mean two or three. The fact that she took the entire day and made no other attempt to reestablish contact but DID make the time to track down Lucy for that gremlin moment and Asma to assuage white guilt and bragging and grab herself an ice cream is just…selfishness on a level that if I wasn’t looking at her through the lens of this character has avoidance issues built on severe trauma my opinion of her overall would be fundamentally permanently altered for the worst. But I am looking at her through that lens. So all I’m feeling now is disappointment.

tifani

This also doesn’t strike me as lust. I mean lust is a huge part of it. But I’m seeing this as “initiate sex to make me avoid my problems that much longer and make everything that resulted from my actions feel worth it.” Not good pressure for a new relationship. Does not bode well and there’s no way any relationship or person could deliver on that.

tifani

That smile is also…disconcerting.

tifani

“Whatevs. Probably means nothing. This behavior is all totally cool and hot and the context of the past 48 hours means nothing beyond Joyce is horny. I’m so sure!” Dorothy’s thoughts probably. Like seriously I see that lip bite. Does your girlfriend objectively mentally unraveling make you just so hot Dotty? POUR SOME WATER IN HER FACE AND FUCKING HAVE AN ACTUAL DISCUSSION. I don’t CARE that they’re teenagers. They are intelligent human beings who CARE about the ripple effects of their behavior. Stop focusing on superficial shit like if the dean’s son thinks you’re weird or if you’re performing allyship correctly enough to track down a causal acquaintance at her job about it. Focus on the real people around you for two seconds.

tifani

And if I’m not being “nice” or “understanding” or “empathetic enough” for you guys: too bad. I’m autistic. I’m half black. I’m bi af. And everyday I have to fight the battles required to just be a person in the world co existing with other people. No one gets to opt out from that because big changes are happening to them. I still had to go to work and flunk out of nursing school when my dad dropped dead. Life continues even when you are losing your shit.

Rob McBobson

Uh... As a person so autistic that I live in a support home, I wanna quibble with the phrasing "And if I’m not being 'nice' or 'understanding' or 'empathetic enough' for you guys: too bad. I’m autistic." To me at least, it isn't a great way of putting things, even with the rest of the paragraph and the context it provides. As you probably know already, there is a stereotype of people behaving in a way that's seen as rude and blaming it on their autism. I'm not saying you're trying to do that, but I'm saying that the phrasing comes off as a bit problematic to me, even with the following context.

Mariah

I was pro poly but now im thinking joe will be the side piece at this point.

Mariah

honestly I would rather be broken up with than stuck in limbo like this.

C Bonesmith

|She is doing the same thing she’s been doing all weekend which is avoiding consequences as much as possible. Like when she and Becky borrowed the car and drove around in circles to avoid dealing with her parents when they went home that one weekend. Avoidant behavior's kind of a thing with her. Consequences are scary, and I think her fundie background plays into the origin of that a lot- when you're told all your life about fire and brimstone, EVERY consequence seems life or death, I think. Not saying it's right, just observing.

tifani

I forgot about this and yeah. This is her go to coping strategy.

tifani

No me apologizing for “lack of empathy” that was more about me trying to get ahead of the go to defenses I predict people giving to this behavior. Me then establishing being on the spectrum was just so I could establish I’m dealing with a lot of the same mental barriers when it comes to societal niceties and communication Joyce is. One wasn’t really meant to speak on the other. I’ve just noticed a pattern where I call Joyce out in a behavior and people rush to defend it and I’ve just fully lost patience about it.

tifani

But lack of empathy (and much we both no is about perception nor reality) is a go to thing that gets brought up in my communication style written and verbal kind of a lot and it is something that I have to navigate in the daily in communications with neurotypicals so I’m not going to pretend that it isn’t a frequent thing we have to deal with even if me saying it might come across as me stereotyping myself. Which I wasn’t? I don’t think I should refrain from commenting on my lived experience objectively just because the wrong people like to toss it out to invalidate experience. Kind of like I don’t want to have to control my anger just because I’m a black (non binary but still) woman.

tifani

What’s pluribus?

5099 5618 v2.0

@tifani A TV series on Apple TV that just came out. It's basically "what if invasion of the body snatchers, but it worked except for 11-12 human beings who seem to be immune, one of which is Carol"

tifani

Ok done pretending to be funny. OH MY GOD THE ICE HOTEL!

5099 5618 v2.0

@tifani She and Helen are awfully cute together. It's nice

tifani

I think you’ll find it was “some what”.

Rob McBobson

I don't think you should refrain from commenting on your lived experience objectively either. It was just a comment on the particular phrasing.

tifani

🤷🏽‍♀️

I can almost see the halo
