Dina is secretly incredibly strong, and just yeeted her up. Amber was on heavy painkillers at the time, so she thinks she just dreamed that part.

Dina's gaze is on her phone even as she hands the pill bottle up to Amber in the first two panels. Amber's expression of pain in the central borderless panel is the backdrop to the strip. Her arm bandadges are visible, and her upper arm and elbow get little motion lines that show us the difficulty moving that Amber expresses in the last panel. Amber's speech balloons all have wavy pointers that also show her pain. Panel 4 has no dialogue, but Amber's mouth being closed as well as the context suggest that she is in the action of swallowing the pills; the panel also serves as a beat panel before the humorous new subject in the last panel. Very minor matter: I'm not sure we've previously been told that loft beds are a choice for the student cast members who live in doubles.

In this universe I assume it's default for this dorm, but, like, it's still gotta adhere to ADA standards. Some folks got mobility issues and would strongly prefer a normal bed and desk, please! (and ruth and carla also have those anyway, so)

I believe that the identity of the assailant(s) is not yet known, but I welcome evidence to the contrary.

Am also a member of Exes of Gallbladders and I concur. Combination of owchies and the thought of 'but if I use my abs to sit up, what will it do to my incision??' (absolutely nothing, but the fear was real)

Not with a normal bullet but bean bag rounds, rubber bullets, a direct hit with a tear gas canister would all count as being shot imo. They can all cause internal injuries if used "incorrectly" the way cops enjoy doing

That strip shows Sal and Amber on the way back to read from the mob doctor's place, but (unless I'm reading it wrong) it neither shows the injury happening nor identifies the perpetrator(s) in the dialogue. But yes, I do give weight to the author countering my theory.

@Dan Rabin: If you look closely at the last panel of that strip, there's a scar on the left side of Amber's abdomen. That's what Willis is referring to.

To be fair, even with Dina standing guard, lying in the open on the dorm room floor might have risked some curiousity and questions that they really don't want right now. Her being up in the loft is both 'normal' and out of the way of prying eyes.

FC, we still have no confirmation it was the cops. Sal found her in the woods, as Amber. It's possible the cops attacked her after the protesters got away, then she got away and changed back into civvies and then collapsed on the ground, but I still think it's more plausible that she was attacked after she got away.

I'm still holding out for it being a knife wound. And yes, probably cop, but I'm banking on Lester; he was interested in Amazi-girl's identity in that last conversation with Blaine.

The cops were the ones we saw attacking a peaceful protest. The cops were the ones we SAW Amazi-Girl fighting. Cops are the ones who assault people IRL every day There's no reason to assume it wasn't the cops. Even if it's later shown somebody else attacked her they would still share in the blame. Their violence against left wing protests encourages those kind of attacks, which of course they do nothing to stop
