Might want to clarify you had previously said Dina proved God was real, only for Joyce being with Dorothy being why he wasn't. Context is key.

Logibear

Doctors recommend Fucking Off With That. Best applied directly to your face. Ask your GP if its right for you.

jafortee

it’s happened futurewives has happened

Logibear

Side effects may include... atheism?

Jeremy AR

I like the constrast of Becky saying that she is very much jealous of their relationship but refusing to let Dorothy take blame or fell bad because of it. Even through that hurt she still cares about her.

Smoochie

Do not take Fucking Off With That, if you are pregnant, nursing, have zero percent body fat, a twin, or dead in another version of the Willisverse. Fucking Off With That is not for everyone. Except Faz.

Jeremy AR

Means she has grinded her to the point she can't be recognized anymore

Kazo

Ok I'm starting to reach the point where Charles is right: they just need a giant fuckpile

Logibear

Becky shouldn't be able to tell where her face ends and the floor begins

MrShoggoth

I like that Becky is shutting down the self-flagellating on Dotty’s part before it can truly start, nipping it in the bud. It’s a mature moment and they both need it.

Harold

@Hooked to the Silver Screen: My read is that Dotty's saying, "That should have made Dina grind you so hard you would become an indistinguishable stain on the floor"

Astariel

Thank you, Becky, for immediately slapping down Dorothy's claim of responsibility! Given who Dorothy is, it was obvious she was going to feel like it was her fault, but that's not hers to claim. I also love that Becky was going to ask to be ground into the floor for her birthday.

"Hey Dina, my realization that God is not real was not a sudden flash of insight, but the culmination of several observations at odds with my beliefs that simply happened to collapse at a moment that was not more important to me than anything else, nor more important than my mother's death or your love for me, but simply so farcical from the standpoint of interpreting the universe as having sane narrative meaning that it finally resolved what had been brewing in the back of my mind for awhile. The profound distraught I was projecting was due to a heightened feeling of insecurity coupled with anxiety that I had accidentally said something to damage our relationship through poor choice of wording. The biggest damage this incident did to me wasn't the bruised ego caused by wondering why a friend would find me unattractive but not Dorothy, but instead the realization that I had unwittingly uttered something that could be taken so terribly to the one I love the most." Is this true? I dunno. Can you still win her back? ONLY IF YOU LOCK THE FUCK IN SAMURAI.

Dan Rabin

In this strip and its predecessor, Becky has her back turned to Dorothy, but does a lot of talking with her head turned looking at Dorothy over her shoulder. Today's strip confirms what I thought I saw yesterday: Becky is talking to Dorothy as a *friend*, which is something she needs in this situation. And the fact that Becky extends Dorothy's woman/woman sex joke shows Becky's rapid adoption of Dorothy as her new lesbian friend, and the content of the conversation shows that Becky has (correctly) moved to repairing the damage with Dina as the actual crisis to be addressed now. Dorothy herself is quickly abandoning her classification of Becky as a newly-wronged enemy.

Fart Captor

So, what? If Becky lashes out at Dorothy you think she's like Andrew Tate, but if she DOESN'T and accepts that nobody is can be blamed for the heartache she's feeling, you're upset about a lack of "consequences"? Am I getting this right??

Logibear

"Dina, I want you to treat my face with your thighs as if you were a Pachycephalosaurus fighting off a rival"

Maybeeus

I gotta say, i REALLY like Becky's new hairstyle! Maybe i just have a thing for medium length hairstyles but i really love it. There are a lot of posters comparing it to Dorothy's but other than the length it doesn't really look that similar. Also a thought i had yesterday, a part of what i like about Joyce and Dorothy's dynamic is how Dorothy is a fixer, when she sees a problem she solves it. Even from the very start of her character back in J&W there were shades of that. HAII was able to get her number by presenting her with a problem that could be fixed, in that case the problem was Joyce. Now years later in DOA... Joyce is still kinda the problem, or at least the cause of them. If Dorothy is a fixer then Joyce is a DESTROYER!!! She's reckless and impulsive and always willing to follow her heart no matter the cost. I think Dorothy likes that though? Being in a relationship with Joyce is pretty high maintenance which for the former future president of the united states of america is just another day on the job.

Doki

Yeah, I noticed that Becky is actually engaging with Dorothy in a decently normal way! Which is (so far) kind of an encouraging sign, I think...?

Harold

@Maybeeus: "It's all in a day's work for... Joycicle Repairwoman"

Fart Captor

Yeah, she's up in her feelings about it, but she's fully aware that they're not to blame for it and she's wouldn't want them to deny themselves for something she clearly was gonna need to get over/through at some point anyway

GundamBradley

Okay, thank fuck they're talking about this, we're on the right path here. Work it out.

Railway Series Book Club

i also like Becky's new hairstyle! i feel like even with the unintended Dorothisms it has, it's still very distinctly Becky, it suits her well.

Harold

And, again, I don't think we could have gotten to this point without that wonderful scene between them in the middle of the night prior to The Kiss, when Becky finally affirms to Dorothy that she considers her a close friend, of the ride-or-die variety. A scene that incredibly, per Willis, was very much a last-minute addition to the narrative.

Smoochie

I have always been of the mind that Becky and Dorothy, once we got away from the ‘if it isn’t my mortal enemy Dotty’ bit and dynamic, would make stellar friends to learn from each other. I feel vindicated.

Fart Captor

My poor baby and her tragically in tact pelvis 😭

Tessea

Dorothy - "Personal life repair mode - ENGAGE!!" Cue magical girl transformation where Dorothy comes out the other side dressed the same but how has a fully charged tablet for potential research, binders for planning, and many MANY pre-sharpened pencils

Girlycore

I am SO happy Becky is talking to someone.

Tessea

At least Becky understands what happened and doesn't want anyone else taking the blame. That's a good start.

Girlycore

Love love LOVE it

Girlycore

Damn. I have dead in another version of the Willisverse.

Girlycore

CHECKMATE LESBIANS 😭

Tessea

If Becky were only as articulate as Dina...

Maude Reads Things

Glad Becky snapped Dorothy out of the guilt spiral because it's not helpful and not really her fault. And hey, you never know, maybe they'll make up and that can happen by her birthday

Gale Tazzin

Becky and Dorothy both have the tendency to assume anything is their own fault, so they easily recognize the impulse in each other

Empress of Robots

My comment here is sarcasm. I'm sorry I forgot to use the sarcasm font. And I still think Becky is increasingly unsympathetic in all of this.

Fart Captor

…for feeling heartbreak because someone she had a crush on started dating another girl, openly being upset, but very maturely taking great care to not just hold her negative feelings in check but also actively trying to stop Dorothy from blaming herself out of guilt? Cuz that's an …interesting reaction

Empress of Robots

She also broke Dina's heart in the process. Someone she said she loved and wanted to spend the rest of her life with when she had MONTHS to resolve her feelings for her unrequited crush. I'm sorry if I feel like that makes Becky's heartache both cringe and unsympathetic but I'm allowed my opinions.

LupinThe8th

She also now has on TWO sweatervests.

Communication, hon. Love is a verb.

Austin Baugh

The hair style looks just like Dorothy's.

I’m glad that it’s not just me that thinks it’s a good sign that Becky understands the reason for her and Dina’s fight and is talking things out with somebody (before hopefully doing so with Dina)! I’ve seen way too many comments saying that the situation is hopeless and that they’re irreparably broken up and it was getting to me because I always felt like this was a relatively easy fix, with the solution being the aforementioned talking things out.

Shane Wegner

It seems like Becky spending some quality time with Dina, saying she really does appreciate her even if there is some residual old flame crush, could go a long ways towards mending that torn cloth.

Dmitri0240

But Becky didn't just feel heartbreak. That would have been more understandable. There are ways to feel heartbreak without pointedly disrespecting your partner, and without raining on your oldest friend's coming out. There's a middle ground between suppressing everything and letting it fester, and going out of your way to make the whole thing all about yourself. Yes, she's showing some personal growth in the past few comics, but that doesn't magically erase her initial reaction. My biggest criticism is not with Becky-the-character or the Becky-can-do-no-wrong-commenters. Rather, I take issue with the number of commenters who have endless empathy and grace for Becky (despite some outwardly gross behavior), but seemingly none for Dorothy and Joyce (whose behavior was not faultless, but which I personally find less problematic). With the possible exception of Joe, no one has handled this messy situation as absolute paragons of wisdom and virtue.

Joey245

Dialogue from Dina I'm hoping to manifest: "Becky, I have seen you fight for everything you have in your life. Your freedom, your education, your identity. This time, let me fight for you. Let me fight for US. I know you are hurting, and you are allowed to hurt. But I will not let you give up on yourself! I will not let you give up on us! ...and I will not give up on you."
