Samel da Camel

For me it's afternoon New Year's day. Also Switch 2 in 2026!

Minzoku Bokumetsu

it's not midnight YET [insert "Almost Christmas" means it wasn't Christmas!]

Lazuli

get plenty of sleep

SmurfJuice

I'm with Amber, consciousness is for the birds. And Walky.

Andrea Andrew

They know each other so well. As Pink said, it’s true love.

Omnithea

Do we have a pre med in the building?

Kelly (they-them)

First of all, it's 11pm for me. Secondly, you think I have something better to do at midnight than read Dumbing of Age? You're wrong Actually, I want to have Kpop Demon Hunters playing at midnight

Harold

The varying type sizes representing the fluctuations in Amber's fading speech are an incredible touch. Poor Amber.

Dan Rabin

1. "Apparently": It sounds like A-G either isn't sharing the wounding with A, or doesn't remember it to share. 2. Mario Kart: the ever-smaller fonts version. Game not over, but player out.

Morgan Byrd

Happy fucking new year (eastern)

Logibear

Might want to hold off on any gloating Walky. Having an unconscious girl in your bed is never a good look.

Harold

@Omnithea: We'd have one right *here*, if Linda Walkerton had gotten her way

ArdieBea

Up here t'other side of the date line it's been 2026 for 18 hours already. But HNY to you all. And massive respect to the demi-deity Willis for a Rollercoaster ride in a wild year.

Omnithea

She shouldn't get anything her way as a matter of principle.

AE Gonzalez

Pacific Coast, not for another 2 hours 46 minutes.

Rob McBobson

It's funny how we can take some time to get things, isn't it? There was this joke that took me the better part of two decades to get. In my defense, you wouldn't expect a person who's not from the UK to know a British dish washing detergent commercial...

Tessea

Oh crap! Quick, get the kitchen Doc's number! See if he makes house calls! Damn, the look on her face x.x I really hope she didn't wreck her stitches. Seriously, though it's not like they can call an ambulance even if there weren't cops everywhere! Who do we know (other than AG/Amber) who could help??

Corronchilejano

Opioids aren't even obtainable in my country for pain so uh, how are they for getting some sleep?

GundamBradley

I can imagine that, between pain and sleep and pain meds, a lot of that is a haze right now, though yeah, we've seen that they are perfectly capable of keeping infromation from each other.

Rob McBobson

I own more of her CDs than most people do, but I don't recognize those lyrics. Which song is it?

GundamBradley

I see Amber discarded her PJ pants when she took off her shoes, so yeah, probably getting as comfortable as she can in what is a decidedly uncomfortable situation.

Kelly (they-them)

I started thd movie at 11:30:42 PM CST. Including the Netflix logo. I'll let y'all know what happens at midnight in the movie

Packy Anderson

It took me a while as well to figure out she was in Walky's room.

Packy Anderson

It's after midnight, so it's time for us old people to go to bed.

ArdieBea

Dan, given that she knows the detail about the mob doc i think it's likely that she also knows what happened - unless AG has decided that that knowledge is too dangerous to share in the same way that she didn't share Blaine's identity during the kidnapping. Or possibly it's AG and Amber together keeping that knowledge from Walky.

Astariel

Oh man, poor Amber! Looks like she's gripping her wound in the last panel.

Katrina Marie Paton

Welp, the bad news is 2026 looks just like 2025, but happy new year anyways.

Astariel

In my experience, pretty good.

NinjaZaku

Adrenaline and shock will let you do amazing things

Kelly (they-them)

Damn, I was so close to having Zoey's "CAW CAW" at midnight. "Spicy Challenge" popped up on the screen at the stroke of midnight. Happy New Year!

Harold

@Packy Anderson: I think that's why Willis switched out the third panel of that strip from what was initially posted here, changing it from a close-up to a wider shot to try to make the location clearer.

David M Willis

Yeah, they mute the pain so you can concentrate on how your brain is, like, cartoon drunk pretty good for sleep

Maude Reads Things

Uh yeah, that was necessity work but now it's time to pass out for a bit

Daniel

Joke's on you, New Year's Eve was last night, this is the next morning.

Sajuuk-Khar

Happy ‘26, ya filthy animals! I mean it’s not gonna be happy, it’s gonna be dog shit, but you folks, yer okay

Sajuuk-Khar

She looks just like an angel when she’s unconscious Specifically an angel drawn by Bosch and subjected to the torments of Hell

Shane Wegner

“Happy” can still be aspirational.

Shane Wegner

She gets to pay the balance on AG’s credit card. And that heathen went on a spending spree!

Shane Wegner

Given her delicate state, if Amber had slipped off that third story ledge, I’m pretty sure she would have died. But she didn’t!

Dan Rabin

ArdieBea: yes, the "apparently" could be somewhat sarcastic, not an indication of surmise in the absence of a real memory. I'm noting this phrasing because the non-sharing of memories was such a plot point in the kidnapping plot, and because the actual wounding has not appeared in the comic. Amber's wounding of Sal was held back for a *long* time, for example, but Amber's slashing of Ryan was shown via blood on the knife just as it happened.

William Lewis

Took me till the next morning to figure it out too. I thought she'd simply been able to slip back into her room after the pigs were gone and Walky was checking up on her.

MST3K.fan: The Cheesy Movie Essays

Yep the few times I’ve had to take them, they made me feel so euphoric, pain free and sleepy, that I instantly recognized why someone would get hooked on them.

Zesstra

Walky, you make sure that Switch 2 doesn't fall off the bed or there'll be hell to pay.

Doki

Depends on the person! I've had them a couple times for surgery, and they didn't keep me awake or make me particularly sleepy. I basically had no side effects aside from the intended pain reduction/very mildly high feeling. I was very relaxed, and I could sleep on them, but I also didn't feel like I HAD to sleep if I didn't want to. Meanwhile, my husband reacted weirdly to them after his big surgery (mostly kept awake from feeling intensely itchy), so he always opts out of them now. Some people are knocked out immediately by them though LOL

Beck Chonigman

It's not right now but if I had been looking at it at that time, the answer would be "lunch break at work."
