Sal is as valid as they come.

C

Yeah, that makes sense.

Omnithea

Oh go pick on a crossing guard, Valid Sal.

Empress of Robots

"I used to be way cooler when I was one of the only gays in this comic you know!" ~Ruth (probably)

MrShoggoth

“Sal, where'd they hit ya?!" “I ain't sayin' nothin'.” “What do I tell the doctor?" “Tell him to suck a lemon.”

C.T. Phipps

She works for the university and the Evil Puddi....DAMMIT, Chloe is NOT evil. Keep reminding yourself of this, Charles. It's the sandy brown hair! It reminds me of family.

C.T. Phipps

Ruth has never abused her auth...HAHAHAHAHAHAH

GundamBradley

Frankly speaking, I think Ruth would *prefer* Sal not involve her, anyway. Ruth has an easier time not cooperating if she has nothing to share, if pestered.

Fart Captor

She's not bein edgy, it's simply good operational security, especially when it's not her secret to blab about. Plus, not telling Ruth means Ruth doesn't *have* to lie to her boss or University if they end up asking her if she has any info later on, which they may end up doing when the cops fail to find anybody to take out their frustration on

Dan Rabin

It occurs to me that: 1. Lots of people in the dorm know who Amazi-Girl is, but the cops don't seem to be asking. 2. The A-G costume isn't where Sal left it, but who will she feel safe telling? Nobody?

Lisa

While we can give her the benefit of the doubt and say it was more ignorance than malice, Chloe was pretty blatantly ignoring unhealthy dynamics between Ruth and her grandfather: https://www.dumbingofage.com/2017/comic/book-7/03-the-thing-i-was-before/flashpoints/. She gave Ruth her job back over Ruth's objections, and failed to ask herself if the job was contributing to the mental health issues that Ruth was just hospitalized for. Or she didn't care.

Sajuuk-Khar

Chloe isn’t *evil*, she’s just profoundly useless and very very stupid

Lisa

Jennifer loves to brag about her heroics. I trust her not to share it beyond Sal, but she's going to absolutely rub it in Sal's face that she "knew" her secret identity all along.

Maude Reads Things

So that's a yes, but with plausible deniability for Ruth. That's nice!

C.T. Phipps

Yeah, I was certain that was revealing that Chloe was just like HR in corporations. At the end of the day, her job wasn't to help Ruth but to just help the university avoid liability and to please one of their donors. It's why I was predicting something malevolent with Asma (who is extra vulnerable as a politically active muslim woman on staff). I was, of course, completely wrong but the conspiracy theory got deep in my head.

C.T. Phipps

This reminds me of Sal and Jason. "You're the man." "I am a TA! I am the opposite of the Man!"

Irene Knapp

absolutely. not telling her is doing her a favor.

Tessea

I wonder if Ruth ever honestly feels left out of the hijinks.

darklion

TAs want so much to be though (The man's Assistant)

5099 5618 v2.0

@Tessea Only where Billie is involved.

5099 5618 v2.0

@S-K There has *got* to be a better way to put that

5099 5618 v2.0

@Dan Rabin There's a scene in Spider-Man 2 that explains how #1 probably works.

5099 5618 v2.0

@EoR Only in a relative sense. Turns out your peers are also interesting people capable of great drama.

Shane Wegner

If she does, too bad ‘cause she sold out to the MAN (albeit in a very low tier)! “Dude I just gotta make tuition and someone has to vaguely coordinate the freshman here.”

Jens H. (Nethead Jay)

Best use of valid I've seen in quite a while. And that's a beautiful sentence in the 4th frame.

Shane Wegner

If they point blank asked Joyce, I seriously doubt she’d be able to keep anything secret.

Shane Wegner

This is a good form of ass cover. If the cops or her boss ask her Ruth, she can truthfully say “I’ve been making a basic effort to ask if anyone knows anything; no one’s volunteered any info.”

Shane Wegner

Sal seems pretty nonchalant about how close she came to having a superhero costume of a known cop-puncher found in her closet, although the ‘huh” implies she recognizes something must have prevented that. If found, her choices seem to be take the fall and say she’s Amazigirl, in which case more jail time and legal system for her, or out Amber.

Shane Wegner

::counts on fingers:: “I don’t (n)ever tell no authority figures nothing.” Aha! That’s four negations! So you do ever yes tell authority figures something! “Still not happening”.

Tessea

Also helps keep her from having to deal with her Grandfather, I think.

Harold

@Shane Wegner: I don't think it's "nonchalance" as much as not wanting to look overly concerned in front of Ruth. I'm sure Jennifer will let her know sooner or later (with a healthy helping of "I knew it!" gloating, probably).

Richard

I think she could manage a level of panicked verbal-diarrhea that convices them that either she doesn't know anything, or is just too annoying to deal with.

Shane Wegner

It’s true Sal is probably quite good at playing it cool.
