♪ it wasn’t just you being dumb and I will die on that hill, beloved Becky ♪♪

I wonder if we're going to just move past Becky's crisis of faith/deconversion because its not a story Willis wants to tell or reverse. Which, as the author, he's entitled to but I still wanted more details other than "Joyce doesn't like me/was accepted by Hank and thus God doesn't exist."

Maude Reads Things

It was a hard time. Have some grace for your unDina'd self and maybe you can work things out with her later

Sky Starlight

I'm so glad she's talking to Leslie about it. Even if it probably means the next few strips are gonna be brutal as she processes this more.

C

...Becky...has Dina even once said that you..."UnDina'd" yourself? Have you actually had a conversation about this? I'm asking because I don't remember much of any conversating after that incident, so if it was done off screen, that'd be good to know...otherwise, might be worth discussing things with Dina. It wasn't a great scenario to end your last convo on...but it wasn't a "we're through". Dina tends to be direct about her relationships.

Starting the countdown to Leslie providing an all encompassing mom hug..... in 3......

Astariel

Good, glad Becky's finally getting to talk to Leslie. Hopefully, Leslie can help her see that it was hardly a definitive breakup.

Harold

@C: Dina hasn't said anything directly to Becky, but the fact that she chose to sleep on the floor rather than the plush dinosaur bed Becky bought for her speaks volumes about where her mindset was after that conversation.

C

Nobody's saying she's not upset...but said upset can't be fixed if they don't eventually converse about it. Plus, Becky seems to be acting/talking like she was dumped, when we've seen nothing to say that happened. I'm really hoping Leslie will help with this potential issue.

Fart Captor

please re-Dina her, Leslie

Gale Tazzin

nice parallel to leslie walking becky to ihop after the kidnapping

Lisa

Dang, Leslie is good at this. She hears the undertones in "Yeah, I do," leads with a seemingly innocuous question that opens the floor but doesn't immediately throw Becky's walls up, and then rides out the silence until Becky's ready to open up.

Tessea

Oh good! Leslie's a great choice of someone to talk to! Leslie will hopefully tell her that no official breakup words were spoken and Becky has to talk to Dina about things before giving up.

Jens H. (Nethead Jay)

Good Leslie face in the 2nd frame. And yeah, she's exactly the right person for Becky to be talking with.

NinjaZaku

I love that Leslie didn't drag this out of Becky. She let Becky make the decision to share. Letting Becky have that agency is so important for helping her through her emotions.

T Campbell

What Becky's done so far isn't so much "drive Dina away" or even "leave Dina herself" as it is "create a reality in her own mind where Dina has already left her or will, because how could she not." There's some validity to Becky's position that no self-respecting person would put up with a partner who's pining for another, at least not past the short term. But relationships mean accepting uncertainties and imperfections. I don't think Becks can predict how hot the fires of jealousy are going to burn in her in a week or a month. And she's convinced she can predict that, which means that she's blitzing past any opportunity to reDina herself. If she went back to Dina right now and said "I've been a fool, let's talk this out," I'd say there's a 95% chance Dina would forgive. But that percentage drops the more time passes.

thejeff

Not that directly, but Becky did say "If you're going to leave me, just do it." and then Dina left.

Shane Wegner

"It's hopeless! There's nothing anyone could do." "You could try talking to her, maybe even admit you understand it was hurtful you still had such a torch for Joyce." "Yup, nothing anyone could do."

Amós Batista

No, no, Becky. It's time to talk.

VengeanceKnight

Leslie being a good mom is always so nice to see.

Harold

Meanwhile, back in Gender Studies, Joyce and Roz continue joycin' and rozzin' all over the place

Empress of Robots

Oh please. Back in Gender Studies, Joyce if force-feeding Roz humble pie (and won't even let Roz record it for her OF)

DramaQueen

But seriously what could she have done or said? When someone is in that mindset there is no arguing with them or rather anything you say may be construed as an insult and an argument.
