Andrea Andrew

If Alice isn’t available, there’s always Angie, Asma.

C

No better time to stay strong than after bullshit like that.

Bayard Brewin

Asma as our collective conscience / spirit for the foreseeable future.

HenryVolt

Another day in the life of a colored woman in America.

Fart Captor

As a Minnesotan, it took me a hot second to remember the *in-comic* reason to worry about Asma getting snatched by law enforcement 😓

Harold

The contrast between Asma's preternatural calm and Joyrothy literally running in circles like headless chickens a little while ago is striking.

C.T. Phipps

Asma is probably the protest's actual leader and, of course, they give credit to Dorothy because she's a blonde white woman.

Maude Reads Things

Asma knows what she's doing. I'm really glad her friend ran to see if she was okay though

Harold

Oh, my God, they were roommates

Peach Reaver

It's like they are different people with different life experiences...weird

GundamBradley

Asma is definitely embodying, "No, *you* move."

GundamBradley

Asma's older than these two, most probably, but beyond that, she's certainly more experienced with this.

Irene Knapp

yeahhhhhh given how far in advance this whole storyline was written, it's impressive it's so in-tune. it's not that it was hard to predict things were going to escalate, it's that most people would have chosen not to.

Fart Captor

i mean, it's based on other real world stuff where peaceful left-wing campus protests and especially anti-war protests have been met with an obscenely violent and harsh response from police, which is a long held American tradition going back to Kent State, and police targeting marginalized protestors for extra helpings of abuse and unlawful detention is sadly not new either

@Bayard Brewin I fear we don't deserve her. I hope someday we [ earn | appreciate ] her.

Zesstra

Despite having done Asma Stats for a little while now, today is the day I actually check for Asma's last name, which is Abbasi. "From Arabic عَبَّاس (ʕabbās, “one who frowns a lot; untamed lion”), from عَبَسَ (ʕabasa, “to frown”), the title of the eightieth sura of the Qur'an." – Wiktionary, from the page for Abbas (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Abbas#English), which I dug to starting from Abbasi. Amazing, perfection.

Sajuuk-Khar

Angie! We finally meet her!

Grace Serenity

Asma is a Muslim in Indiana. This is probably not the first time she's experienced police overreach, nor will it be her last.

Steve McSheffrey

It feels wrong to like a comment stating a very unfortunate truth.

Rob McBobson

If it's not Asma that AE means, I shall eat my hat.
