I thought the head was torn off, though I admit it's hard to say for sure from this angle. But if it was just kind of pushed aside, it wouldn't seem to explain the effect on Dina and the strip as whole would be much less impactful.

It's lying on its side, at least, and there's a lump below the neck that's not there in views of the intact stuffed item. We don't see any strewn stuffing.

The head doesn't specifically look torn off to me, though. And if I may be allowed to go a bit meta, Willis wouldn't have drawn it this way if we were supposed to regard the head as torn off. We would have been able to clearly see that the raptor was in two pieces, if that was what we were meant to see, IMO. And the effect on Dina, I assumed, was just that her private space had been violated by strangers. I would feel the same way if they had done that to my home and things.
