1. Joyce's eyes get progressively tinier over the course of this strip 2. "Werds" is what she gets when words fail her—it's a failed spelling of "words" 3. We see enough of Joyce's left arm in the last two panels to see that she is still posed at the doorway as in the big borderless panel. Her super-confident run has been stopped dead in its tracks! This strip does a great job of making us feel the arrested motion. 4. Joyce's lip bites in panel 1 and panel 4 are drawn differently, and represent different emotions. Panel 1 shows grim determination; panel 4 shows... a big pile of stuff, including (but not necessarily limited to: a. Unexpected Joe—she promised to get back to him, and hasn't, b. Joe with Dina i. Rigid Joyce-brain was all full of *Becky* with Dina, ii. Rigid Joyce-brain still has herself as Joe-companion female of record, c. Dina isn't looking very crushed at the moment. i. Rigid Joyce-brain says Dina should be pining for Becky! ii. Rigid Joyce-brain asks "how can I atone for breaking you up with Becky if you don't seem broken?" d. Word-using heroic restitution-Joyce has reverted to Joyce-being-weird-again! Oh no! 5. The mini-story in this strip puts the wide multi-character scene shot in the middle, and the "establishing" shot is just a normal-size panel of Joyce running. It's nice to see the artist and the author working so well together on the craft. 6. The excitement lines above Joyce's head in the big panel might be surplus to the HUGE! exclamation in the speech balloon, but comics art conventions require them. I have to think a bit more about how this medium works.

I doubt it will happen, but if Dorothy were to kick the door down, laugh in Joe's face, and brag about how Joyce was hers now *and not his*, that would at least be symmetric. I dont think it will happen. I don't expect Dorothy to do that. I suspect Joyce has other trials ahead of her. But it's funny to think about.

Yeah, that would be incredibly cold in retrospect to Joe and Dorothy's last conversation. Kinda funny on a meta grand scale though.

And this is the knocking Joyce off her high horse I’ve been waiting for. There is absolutely nothing about her that made her qualified to be the one to have this discussion with Dina but because of the self delusion and inflated ego she’s been riding for days now (and because her partner in ignoring reality Dorothy encouraged it) she decided she was and by doing so put herself right in front of the person she’s been too scared to talk to for days and literally the only one she could not keep up her no shame act with. He sees right through her. So congratulations Joyce you played yourself. Now you have to have an actual grown up conversation like a grown up. Joe’s not letting her make him wait anymore.
