So, did the 'November' bonus strip on 7 December happen or not in canon? The last strips change a lot with or without it. Otherwise Danny's last appearance in canon was Dorothy asking him about bisexuality and cheating. I see some people going in with the assumption that Danny hasn't spoken / commiserated with Joe about the break-up. Joe literally just established two seconds ago he’s only interested in having sex with someone he’s in love with. They know he’s not in love with Dorothy. They know polyamorous relationships are a thing. If they were actually listening to him and taking him seriously they wouldn’t have jumped to the threesome idea. But they still immediately disregard everything he just said because believing the worst about him is easier to wrap their brains around. If I were Joe I’d end the conversation here. He doesn’t owe them his energy if they’re determined not to believe him. Danny bringing the yearbook into it is funny but a dick move. Your friend is trying to be vulnerable with you and you bring out receipts to use against him? This makes me think of that Billie and Joyce conversation about your friends not letting you change. Joe has been actively working towards being a better person for months now. This attitude that it was only to be with Joyce and he’s just going to immediately backslide is gross. Danny can talk a big game about being supportive of Joe but this behavior gives the impression he was just waiting for him to fail. Sal trusts no one so her cynicism is no surprise but Danny is supposed to be Joe’s best friend. He’s being an asshole right now. I wish Sarah was here since she seems to be the only friend Joe has who really sees and accepts his growth.

Coming back to comment: Joe has actually always been poly. Monogamy was something he was willing to try for Joyce but it’s not his actual preference. He was also trying really hard to be the best he could be for Joyce. He could legitimately see the idea of sharing Joyce with Dorothy as a relief. It removes the pressure of having to be everything to someone. I’m mentioning this because people (like Danny and Sal here) can be so monogamy brainwashed they can’t think of any benefits to what Joe is offering besides the potential for group sex.

Sal had a conversation along similar lines with Joyce but she also doesn't really know Joe very well as anything but List Bro so I can see her believing Danny. And in fairness to Danny, that is totally something Joe would have said before the List blew up, and while it can take a while to understand your friend is different, I do hope he'll come to understand what Joe means and take it seriously.
