circling back to the last panel bc it's a little bit vexing imo... *no idea* what regular, platonic female friendship looks like? i mean, dorothy wasn't exactly a social butterfly or anything when she was in her Miss Future President era (or ever) but like... did she not have a single female friend growing up? was her social circle solely limited to Danny and his orbiting Joe?? i'd go archive-binging to try and unravel this but it's way too late at night to deal with how gutted the new site's search function is... (rip multi-character tag searches)

If hijinks have ensued and Sal was mistakenly invited, that's obviously a non-starter; but if Alice somehow miraculously does show up, her re-connection with Jennifer might torpedo that as well. This sorta feels like a retcon, but it's one that makes Dorothy much more interesting. Not that I'm one to talk in any way. As someone who very frequently identifies with Dorothy (at least, with a younger version of myself), I myself didn't really figure out female friendship until college, either.
