Andrea Andrew

Ohh boy. I guess these two have been basically broken up for a while.

Logibear

Welp, we know who the sub is.

Morgan Byrd

I guess they’ve always kind of known they’re just keeping each other company

Dan Rabin

Jason's dialogue uses the British spelling "harbour". Nice touch.

Harold

How she hates him

Harold

What a gloriously fucked-up dynamic these two have

AE Gonzalez

“Besides, you let me live here literally rent-free.”

Sajuuk-Khar

You’re learning this NOW

Sajuuk-Khar

This would require Ruth to be into having a functioning romantic relationship

Astariel

I actually feel bad for Jason here. Not bad enough not to want Ruth and Jennifer back together, but bad. I would definitely be the Jason if I were ever in a situation like this.

Sajuuk-Khar

Jason loves you, Ruth, his fractal evil porcupine woman. He also knows you’re never going to love him the same amount or way.

Lazuli

ruth. go to jennifer and tell her. seriously.

Sajuuk-Khar

I love their stupid tiny tragic affair so much ; 3; ♡

Amós Batista

In this sitituation, and without his necktie, Jason looks like a teenager.

Spartacus

My advice is that taking the small selfishness and fighting for what you want anyway goes a long way. My fiancee taught me that. It ends up sending the message that you want to be in the relationship.

Tom @ Magic Chopstick Games

My god, this isn’t spinelessness, this is some bizarre anti-spine, growing downward from the coccyx and embedding itself firmly in the ground

Tessea

He's _not_ dead! I owe Smithers a Coke. But now Jason is the one not offering eye contact.

Emily Lamont

Men know what they're worth. Keep it up, boys.

Tessea

Ruth and Jason have the relationship that Joyce would have had with Becky. Sure she cares, just not in _that_ way. Ruth just has the lack of attachment to him that lets her justify using him to feel less lonely and maybe more capable of a stable relationship (ironically)

GundamBradley

Ruth wants a reaction, but I doubt she *needs* one.

5099 5618 v2.0

Prediction: If [ Jason | BIllie | Ruth ] find their way to a stable poly configuration before [ Joe | Joyce | Dorothy ] do, I will laugh myself unconscious.

5099 5618 v2.0

@AE Gonzalez ...said Billie, from within Ruth's head.

5099 5618 v2.0

@MST3K.fan The Cheesy Movie Essays All signs point to "Yes".

Ragtime

He was handcuffed to her door when they got together.

KiasyonSFM

I....forgot about this dynamic and I love it.

Tessea

It's not a great week for guys whose names begin with J.

Tesset

There's that old comic with the hover text about it being weird that Amber can do badass stunts & Walky can't, compared to their origins in the walkyverse. Billie & Jason having that same relationship is quite funny. I hope she has cause to kick his ass in defense of Ruth some day. Or she has misguided belief, however we wanna do it.

Grace Serenity

It's a step up from the mutual suicide pact she and Billie had

C

I wouldn't mind a somewhat healthier version of Jennifer and Ruth as a couple...just messy enough to be entertaining without hitting...well, the more problematic end of where they were last time.

Private me

almost every man in this comic just humbly accepts the unstoppable saphicc force.

Shane Wegner

Yes, the T just gets mapped to Toxic.

Shane Wegner

That’s just Jason sitting in the cuck chair marinating in a sublime blend of arousal and British shame while Ruth and Billie do some competitive hatefucking. So easy it practically writes itself.

ThatOneGuy

It does not, actually, require you to think you could win. It does require you to think she's worth fighting for, even if you believe you will lose.

Simon Magid

But does he, or is he merely resigned to it? :/

joe mcguire

You can think someone is worth fighting for but have enough self respect to not waste time fighting a losing battle. If he didn’t think she was worth it, I doubt he’d be there, but I’m with him in the sense that it makes little sense to get bent out of shape and “fight” a battle you wouldn’t win. You can’t control how a person feels, and trying or acting like you can is a master’s class in self-defeatism. It can be okay if their relationship is just about having someone you get along with and are reasonably attracted to, there have been worse platforms to build relationships upon; but Idk why he should be expected to invest more in the relationship than she is.

Harold

@Tessea: I don't know, Jacob's doing OK. Jalky, not so much.

thejeff

What would fighting for her even look like here? Dumping her, like she suggests?

Harold

"Now that I've said my piece, please kindly undo the leg iron. I need to use the loo."

Tessea

He's already lost, and he's aware of it. Ruth has said she's go back to Jennifer in a heartbeat.

5099 5618 v2.0

@Shane Wegner I wonder how Sal would take all that. I suspect she'd be torn between laughing and rolling her eyes so hard they fell out of her head.

Gale Tazzin

just realizing that Jason is a foil to Dina, with Joe in between them in terms of "self-respect in a one-sided relationship"

Gale Tazzin

wasn't it literally confirmed before Amber was confirmed to be Amazi-Girl

Downgraded my patreon for HRT

My only issue is where does Alice fit in this? That girl showed up, went "i want to fuck Billie" and has been learning about the last year in a way Ican only describe as a crash course

5099 5618 v2.0

@Sam Vimes.... I suspect she and Asma are headed for a collision, myself.

5099 5618 v2.0

@Grace Kieser More like a jump to the left, and then a step to right...

Sajuuk-Khar

Alice is eating Becky out so hard she evolves into a bird

Sajuuk-Khar

I don’t know that it’s as *bad* as a Churchgirls incident would be—the main problem with Churchgirls is the weight of unrequited expectations, the audience-cringing agony of knowing neither Becky nor Joyce will benefit. Ruth, on the other hand, is the self-identified Girl Who Sucks Plus She Got Depression, and so she expects only abandonment and pain. She has identified love as “trapping an innocent person”, and that’s super reflected here—she challenges Jason to break up with her for essentially emotionally cheating, and when he doesn’t want to she frames it as not wanting to fight for her—whiiiiich it isn’t, as he pithily notes. But he’s still here. Ya can’t get rid of the bloke that easily, Ruthless. <3

Harold

@5099 5618 v2.0: But it's the pelvic thrust that really drives them insane

Harold

Becky: "Welcome to Galasso's Pizza (and subs)! My name is Becky, and I'm the su--" Jason: "No, *I'm* the sub!" Becky: "It's me - hi. I'm the sub, it's me!" Jason: "I'm the bloody sub!" Becky: "Well, ya will be any second!" Jason: "Good, at least you're finally admitt-- OW!"

Jesse

This relationship doesn’t look good either.

Kal

yknow, i totally forgot this dude existed, let alone that they were together :/

George Simpson

I guess *threatening* to break up with her ineffectually? idk
