"IN FACT NEVER MARRY ME IN AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE" "wait what"

Lazuli

yeah, probably not, joyce

Patrick Duke

And absolutely never let our names be the title of a comic strip about our marriage!

C

Walky: *screams internally* Joyce: ...See? We can be friends! Walky: *Screams externally*

MDL

Honestly good for Walky. I remember in a previous strip Walky offhandedly referred to Joyce as a friend and it surprised me considering how openly hostile she's been and how she basically rubbed it in his face that she stole his girlfriend away from him. Glad to see W-man standing up for himself a bit.

Sajuuk-Khar

She might be one of the dumbest to ever do it

Logibear

I too greet people in the morning with the sound people make when passing stool

Fart Captor

d'awww, I think these two shouldn't kiss

Sajuuk-Khar

“I feel like in a short time I might be able to accept you as a sibling!” “I AM GOING TO BUY A SWORD, THERE WILL BE A DUEL”

Lazuli

"unspoken tension" just wow. joyce just completely thinking she did nothing wrong. truly remarkable.

Kelly (they-them)

I'm almost certain she disliked him before he started dating Dorothy, but I can't be bothered to check the archives

Harold

Walky: "I COULD NOT SUGGEST MORE VEHEMENTLY THAT WE WILL NEVER EVER EVER BE FRIENDS!" Joyce: "So there's a chance!"

Logibear

Or do? It might resolve Walkys tension.

Jamie (QueenofSodor)

she was mad about him thinking her plan to find a husband in college was stupid, and then they both met dorothy like five seconds later. they've basically been fighting each other for her attention since the beginning!

Harold

Dumbing of Age, Book 16: HNNG

voyager-ngc5195

New and Improved, Lesbian Atheist Joyce! Comes with a Girlfriend! Warning: May occasionally be more insufferable than Original-Brand Fundie Joyce.

Kazo

Yeah, someday Walky is just gonna deck Joyce and I'm gonna lol

Lazuli

in the last panel, joyce looking away and ignoring walky's frustration at her. its par the course for how shes acted lately. i wouldnt be surprised if walky makes an active attempt to never talk to her again

Maude Reads Things

I dunno, if they can learn to share it'd solve my shipping dilemma XD

Maybeeus

Love how the patreon comments have gotten just as bad as the main site stay classy yall.

Maude Reads Things

Yeah, I think whatever 'calling it a friendship because there isn't a good single word for it' was there is long gone, Joyce

Tessea

No, Joyce! Bad! No cookie! I know she's trying, but damn girl, give him some time.

AE Gonzalez

Funny enough, that’s the same noise he made when Dorothy sucked his dick.

Ragtime

This is the woman who openly gloated about stealing his girlfriend whilst removing her from a proper breakup, who then later barged into his room while he was with someone and acted like it was no big deal. Joyce is doing this on purpose she cannot be that obtuse.

Lazuli

@ragtime lowkey im waiting to see dorothy's reactions to everything joyce has done

MrShoggoth

So how long in-universe does everybody think it’ll take before Joyce gets the hint that Walky is now completely hostile to her? Ten years? Twenty?

Andrea Andrew

Maybe someday, if Joyce at least apologizes.

Astariel

Hmm, Walky doesn't really seem to be smirking like he was in the preview. It's good that Joyce isn't feeling agitated any more.

KiasyonSFM

You'll be lucky if he ever says a nice word to you again atp, Joyce 😂

5099 5618 v2.0

Yeah, that's a bit much, Joyce. Not impossible, in the long run, sure. But recent wounds have not yet closed, much less healed.

5099 5618 v2.0

@C "That's fair. "A touch indelicate, but fair." -Walky's internal vocal track, by way of Daniel Day Lewis in "Gangs of New York"

5099 5618 v2.0

@Logibear I suspect Dorothy would have opinions about that.

5099 5618 v2.0

@Andrea Andrew And injures herself while saving his life, sure.

5099 5618 v2.0

@MrShoggoth I suspect NRE will have to wear off, first. So, sometime around the next sighting of Halley's Comet, is my guess.

Shane Wegner

“Stupid babies need the most love!” -kind guy in The Simpsons

MrShoggoth

Worryingly she’s giving me vibes of someone I know irl with this exact personality and life path.

Shane Wegner

“You stole my girlfriend and then gloated about it!” “Sure, but what have I done -recently-?” “Naught but a few seconds ago you called my face both dumb and stupid.”

Mohmi

"Babe, do you think if we met in an alternate universe, we'd still be together?" "Hell no, we'd be mortal enemies at best."

Julian Williams

Joyce discovers 'getting even' makes you feel better but does not in fact make you friends

Ouri Maler

There's something darkly amusing about how Joyce, who deals with a ton of unearned guilt because of her fundamentalist upbringing and purity culture, seems unable to comprehend the notion that she should ever feel bad for how she acts in relation to Walky.

5099 5618 v2.0

@Shane Wagner "Stupid boy think that I need him I go cold like changing seasons I go red hot like a demon I go gross for no damn reason Stupid boy think that I need him..." -Joyce Brown, probably

5099 5618 v2.0

@Tessea Nah, this is gloating-adjacent. I foresee a day coming when she sees her mom in this tendency of hers. I suspect her mind will go full Red Ring of Death, that day.

5099 5618 v2.0

@Maude Reads Things "Enemy whose formidabillity I respect enough to be polite in mixed company" is still possible, tho even that will take some time.

T Campbell

[Buzz Lightyear voice:] CAN.

Harold

"But your face *is* dumb and stupid! I'm just stating *facts*!"

thejeff

I hope he doesn't. He really needs to stand up for himself. And this kind of thing can pass for their former hassling each other sort of friendliness. What I'm really interested in though, is whether he's willing to just blow off Dorothy the same way. Because he really needs to.

Harold

@Maybeeus: The comments here will NEVER be as bad as the main site (where, let's remember, one of us is now a full-time moderator because things had gotten so bad). Unless, of course, you're talking specifically about that one comment below where man-on-woman physical violence is being actively encouraged.

Harold

@5099 5618 v2.0: I'm now picturing a conversation that could incorporate my favorite DD-L line from that film: Joyce: "Walky, maybe you could help me with something. When I went to break up with Joe, he suggested that I could continue to date him and Dorothy at the same time. I never told Dorothy about this, and Joe now says I shouldn't, but I don't know what to do. Any advice?" Walky: "I don't give a tuppenny fuck about your moral conundrum, you meat-headed shitsack."

Packy Anderson

I find your lack of faith in Joyce's ability to be obtuse disturbing.

Tessea

Oof. I hadn't considered that she might have inherited some of her mothers personality. Looking at it from that angle, Dorothy might need to be the one to break those habits.
